I asked Remi if he wanted to be the model for this announcement. He said only if he can get a belly rub. 😅 Happy to finally be able to share a really fun project I’ve been working on! A little over a year ago I found myself annoyed that the only option for me to store my sweaty gym clothes after a workout was free floating among my other belongings, or a plastic bag. We’re all conscious these days of the impact single use plastic has on our planet, and the desperate need to rid society of it. I wanted a gear bag that wouldn’t transfer my sweat or stink to anything else in my work bag, and was fully reusable and washable (and looked cute too 😉). So my sweet, sweet mama taught me how to sew, and together we made the @busygettingsweaty gear bag. (ps: it’s really awesome for beach days and traveling too) We have so many ideas already in the works for little goodies that we’ll add next, but what I’m most excited about has nothing to do with the physical goods. As much as I love people getting sweaty in the gym, I love people getting sweaty in LIFE also a little bit more. I wanted this to be more than making things and selling them. I wanted to be able to recycle that effort and give back to grassroots charities doing incredible work to make this world a little better for all of us. Unfortunately they just don’t receive the funding that some of the bigger guys do. That’s why I’m donating 10% of every single purchase to them, every day no exceptions. Stiff neck syndrome? Blame the Levator Scapula! Scapulae elevates your scapula, aka the shoulder blade. Every time you shrug your shoulders, the levator scapula is working. Levator Scapulae also turns your neck on the same side. So if you want to look over your left shoulder, your left levator scapula is engaged. The Levator scapula also helps stabilize your neck. When you are looking down to read or write, the levator scapula prevents your head from flopping forward onto your chest. Common Causes: *Typing: One of the most common causes of levator scapula pain is working on a keyboard that is positioned too high. When typing, your shoulders should be down and relaxed, your elbows should be at a 90 degree angle, and the keyboard should be level with your forearms. *Text Neck: Looking down on our phones constantly is a major instigator of a recurring stiff neck. People tend to do it for much longer periods. It is especially concerning because young, growing children could possibly cause permanent damage to their cervical spines that could lead to lifelong neck pain. A recent study shows that 79% of the population between the ages 18 and 44 have their cell phones with them almost all the time—with only 2 hours of their waking day spent without their cell phone on hand. I solemnly swear I’m up to no good, but that comes with the territory of walking ~2,200 miles, right? . We now start counting down. We’re closer to Katahdin than Springer. But as I dream of what lies ahead, I must remember to stay grateful for each step that has brought me here and remain attune only to the few in front of me. . I’m a planner, meaning that I rarely pay homage to what was and get so wrapped up in the future that I lose the journey. The journey is why I’m here. Without the journey, both the history and destination are devalued. . I struggle to stay completely in the present moment (probably a learned defensive mechanism after tripping over too many tissues 😜), but taking a few moments every morning and evening to tip my hat to yesterday and only 1x view tomorrow, has helped me stay a bit closer to this experience and enjoy the twists and turns of the journey much more genuinely. It’s challenging for me, but I’ve noticed that instead of my hike looking like an incomplete paint-by-number, it’s beginning to resemble a red neck rendition of a Van Gogh masterpiece. Friends often ask me how I motivate myself to get out of bed in the morning to workout....1 - I am more of a morning person so I go to bed a bit earlier and naturally my body is ready to get up earlier....2 - feet to the floor Its so easy to convince myself Im too tired when I first wake up, but if I tell myself feet to floor then by the time I get up and start moving around, its a whole lot harder to convince myself to go back to bed and not actually get in that workout....3 - I remind myself how much better I feel (mentally AND physically) when I start my day with a workout of some sort. If I want to feel that way, I better get out of bed and make it happen. 💪🏻 Are you a morning workout fan? What helps you get out of bed for your morning workout?

We are obsessed with numbers. There are 250 cals in a glass of wine which is the same as a Mars bar. X did the #5K in 20 mins while XX did it in 15. J lost a stone in a month while P took 2. Indeed, its yet another way to start comparing ourselves. When I started my own transformation and put it out there it took a strong mind to not get caught up with how people felt I should look just a mere two weeks in. Getting off the treadmill of life, running your own race, setting your own goals and freeing yourself from these blinkin numbers takes time but SO empowering when you do. With Free, Fit and F-Fabulous its a lifestyle change. There are no numbers. You run because you love it and set your own goals on the way just like you have to do in life. You reconnect with your body and become more self aware. That way you reduce the potential for injury as you feel the twinges on the way and adjust accordingly. Im about to go to the library now for example, I will run as opposed to drive. I dont count calories, and although work in progress I just dont eat sh*t anymore. I am mindful of my thoughts and beliefs which helps to manage my emotions and also what I eat. Do I still have what others will call lapses? Sure I do. I just dont see them as such. Its feedback. I also still have a glass a wine when Im out and may well order dessert. I just dont over do anything. We were born to run. To feel the wind in our faces, be outdoors in nature and feel free. We were never built to put ourselves under this severe amount of stress and pressure. And we sure wasnt built to consume the amount and the type of food the world shoves in our faces. I will not live my life by numbers. 🏋️ The Goblet Squat 🏋️‍♀️ • There is no one size fits all Squat pattern. • Its about moving your Hip, Knee and Ankle without moving anything else. • In other words, Your Spine should not be changing position. • The distance between a joint and the centre of gravity is called a Moment Arm. • In the case of the Squat it’s over the middle of my foot. • The longer the Moment Arm, the greater the amount of force required; think of using a crowbar to open something compared to a knife - its a question of levers. • The Goblet Squat moves my centre of gravity forwards, normally it would be where my head is but by holding an object in front of me it’s now a combination of me plus the load Im holding. • This results in a more upright position than I would achieve in a Back Squat. • And this upright position changes the Moment Arms to my Knee and Hip. • In a Back Squat I will see a greater Moment Arm to my Hip than my Knee, and so we can say a Goblet Squat (or Front Squat) is more Knee Dominant than a Back Squat. • Which in turn means it will challenge the muscles of the Knee more than the Back Squat will. • Its not about one being better than the other, its just about recognising the demands of different positions and matching them to the demands we wish to make on the body. • I have long femurs (thigh bones) and this tends to make Squatting to greater depths harder. • It not only increases the length of my Moment Arms, it also requires a more acute joint angle in order to keep my centre of gravity over the middle of my foot. • Some people have shorter femurs, longer torsos and longer tibias all of which make Squatting easier. • As a result they may well Squat lower than me without losing their Spine position. • If you’re someone like me you may find a heel raise allows for greater depth to be achieved, contrary to popular belief this isn’t just because it compensates for poor ankle ROM but because it increase the length of the tibia which changes the ratios and angle created between the leg bones and the torso. • The takeaway is that no one best Squat position exists for all people but I still want you to Squat as low as possible without losing your Spine position
