I love running. Logging the miles and the hours in training. Entering a race and making it your focus, dreaming of putting in your best performance and coming away with the win. Sharing the experience with your friends, family and other competitors. Its brilliant. I raced the @beaconsultramarathon on Saturday. It started as I hoped, I felt good alternating the lead with a few others and knew I was in the required shape to do it all again on the second lap and fight it out for the win. Alas a freak strain in my abdomen scuppered that. If it wasnt for a kind man who saw my pain and distress on the side of the trail and given me some painkillers I would of been forced to DNF. . I learnt lessons again. I still came away with 🥉and Ive had a lovely time in the beautiful Brecon Beacons with @kellyjaynejackson . Its all just fuel for the fire. . 📸 @brahmastudios

The thrust is a MUST! My favourite Glute building exercise and the best! Have replaced heavy squats (Quad focused) with heavy hip thrusts (Glute focused). I am reaching full extension of my hips as my quads are bigger it looks as though I am not at full extension. DO NOT hyper extend the hip just to get it level with your chest. This exercise requires focus, control and max effort in each rep to feel it in the glutes. Chin tucked into chest and looking forward into the mirror to make sure I’m reaching the height at which my glutes are reaching full tension. > 105kg for 15 reps, 4 sets. W/ 8kilos of resistance from the band. Everyone’s their own worst critic. I always convinced myself that I’d never look or feel good. The first photo was about 3.5 years ago (2015) and the second is today, same shorts. When I found the first one earlier this afternoon I was honestly in shock. That day was my first time doing a color run and my god was I out of shape...I was exhausted after jogging less than half a mile out of 3 miles...also, that first photo reminded me of how unhappy I was. Physically, emotionally, and mentally. I was only eating one meal a day and the majority of them were fast food like McDonald’s or wingstop. I slept in like crazy, even up to 4pm on some days. I was going through a very low, very negative point in my life where I honestly felt numb towards everything. I stopped caring about my well being, I stopped caring about my future, I stopped hoping that my life would get better. Many other, MAJOR factors led me to depression, excessive stress, and anxiety that I wish I could’ve prevented from hurting me (which I still struggle with from time to time). The pain I went through ended up fueling my lack of faith in people and in myself. It was until I hit rock bottom that I knew I needed to pull my ass up and find myself again. I missed feeling excited for adventures and taking on challenges. I missed being loud with my friends and bonding with new ones. I missed feeling confident in myself. ———————————————————-———————— Now it’s 3.5 years later, and I can really say that I’ve transformed as a whole. Still need improvement all around, but I can say I am fucking happier now. I have goals. I have values. I have myself back. To all my friends who struggle with self-identity, anxiety, and depression, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. NEVER ALONE. When you feel like the world is against you and you think no one understands, know that you are STRONG. That this WILL pass. The sole person that can really help you back up again is YOURSELF. Use all your might to fight against those inner demons and trust me you’ll feel like a warrior. Do, not, give, up.

It’s quite simple. If you make a commitment then you show up every damn day to honor that commitment! YES even {and especially} when you don’t want to🙌🏻

Day 5 #intothedepths challenge: Who do you spend the most time in your life WITH, thinking ABOUT, talking TO or fixating ON? For each of these relationships, what needs attention first and is there a common theme to conflicts you experience with each of these people? ✨ This is my crew. Yea I have a lot of great friends and family, but most of my time is spent with and working on building the best relationships with my hubby and kids. ✨ What needs to be fixed the most? ME. It’s always me BECAUSE for my entire life I’d blame others, but the reality is others are my mirrors. The past year or so I have taken a different approach. So when I’m annoyed with my husband it’s because I am lacking. When my kids are acting self righteous and I feel triggered it’s because I am fearful they will be how I was, selfish and ungrateful. They say when you point the finger, two point back at you. And while it may not always be ME I do know that life mirrors back to you what you see, feel, believe about yourself. I have come a long way and would like to think if I change myself, then the rest will come more easily and naturally. ✨ When I feel annoyed or question things about my relationship it’s usually when I’m feeling at war with myself. When we are aligned,and often times we are so much so on the same page it’s scary, things go smoothly and we are so much more playful and fun. ✨ I have been trying to point the finger back towards myself so that me and my amazing family can work together to just flow, and simply be. Mind over Matter..... Each morning I wake and struggle to rise knowing the challenges of the day ahead of me with this current and thankfully ‘not permanent’ disability. Those words ‘not permanent’ are what I need to remind myself of, to push through my day. I’m not even half way through this process and I still wake up each day struggling to accept that I won’t be putting on my running shoes to go for my training run. I’m struggling to accept that each day the fitness that I had worked so hard to build, is crumbling. I struggle to accept that I’m not self-sufficient and have to reply on others to help me. However deep down I know that those struggles are only temporary and are only making me stronger. Instead of letting those struggles consume me, I’m working hard to use them to set new goals and focus on becoming a better me! Those struggles are teaching me patience and acceptance.
