Reviewing the 90 Day Plan Goals 30,000 feet in the air ✒️📘 . 7 days away now from finishing the 100 Day Plan and starting the 90 Day Plan, so this week I’ll be reviewing my goals further and making any final adjustments that are needed before we head into October and Q4. . I remember talking to @hutchinsonmark a while back when he mentioned how he usually gets out his journal on plane journeys whilst using the flight time to clear his mind and set goals. . So yesterday, although it was only a short flight back from Southampton to Manchester, the first thing that i had planned for the flight back was getting my journal out to review the goals that i’d set earlier that day. . I spent the majority of the flight with my headphones in and zoned into the goals I had set. Also reflecting on the overall Southampton trip and thinking about things to come in the near future, heading into year end. . There’s something so powerful about handwriting out your goals 30,000 feet above the earth 🌏 . It’s definitely the first of many more trips to come in the future. But in the meantime, it’s time to use these next 90 Days to get to work and level up ✒️📘

When looking at setting your fitness goals you may often hear the term “Find your why” and I agree, finding out why you want something will absolutely help you stay focused on your path to achieve your goals, but are you also asking yourself if your goals are actually yours? You might be thinking “of course they are my bloody goals, who elses would they be?” take a step back and consider the following using the example of “I want to be a size 8” When did this become your goal? I really want you to think about this, when you first wanted this, start thinking of a timeline back to when this desire was initially triggered, this may be way, way back to early teens. In our example of wanting to be a size 8, they could question if they personally thought another person of that size looked fabulous (this would be your goal) or because it been pinned up in the media as a perfect size or is it because they have seen larger people, or themselves criticised for their size (this would make it someone else’s goal) What moments in your day make you think about your goal? Is it sparked by negative feelings, not living up to others expectations, not being attractive to others? Or is it sparked by excitement of what you and your body are capable. 🙋TRAINING TO FAILURE🙋 by @fit_with_science _ 🙋🙋Training to failure is perhaps one of the most debated topic among beginner lifters. _ 🤔🤔Does training to failure leads to more muscle mass? _ 🙆🙆Yes, training to failure stimulates maximum muscle fibres and leads to better growth from one single training session but growth doesnt occur from just one single session, but rather as result of adaptations from several sessions. As we know Volume ie sets x reps x weights is the prime driver of hypertrophy and training to failure greatly reduces the amount of volume one can do in a session. _ 🤐🤐Also even though training to failure increases muscle growth marginally per unit volume its effect on fatigue is disproportionately high and so is the risk of injury. This higher fatigue negatively affects ones performance on the rest of the exercises for that day and potentially other scheduled workouts in that week. So the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. _ 🤔So does this mean we should never train to failure?? 🙏As Dr Eric Helms says we should stoping thinking in terms of black and white or right and wrong whenever it comes to things related to fitness because context is very important. Training to failure can be useful in certain situations like using it as a tool to measure ones progress by performing a set of AMRAP or to test a 1RM.
