YOU GUYS!! I DID A THING! 🤪 You know how I’m always talking about pushing out of your comfort zone and trying new things? Well today, I took some of my own advice and started hitting some pads with my good friend @chriswademma who just so happens to be a professional MMA fighter and a BADASS. I was completely terrified, like, sweaty palms, hands shaking, heart racing, call your best friend on the way over to distract you terrified, but I’m SO glad I did it! It is an AMAZING workout and super fun to change things up!! I’m so grateful to you Chris, and I can’t wait to share more of this experience with all of you!! (Clips in my story! Hopefully they will be my “before” videos someday 🤣)

Over the past (almost) 3 years I have lost 18 lbs and 3 pant sizes. More importantly, I’ve gained a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. I still drink wine and eat pizza, french fries, chocolate, etc.. but I no longer feel like I have to throw the entire week out the window and restart on Monday after I eat something “unhealthy” or skip a workout. A healthy diet is important, but so is a healthy mindset. 🙆🏼‍♀️

#PWR 2.0 week 16, this week I’ve felt so tired during my workouts, like I just don’t have any energy to give so I had a day off and yesterday I had so much more energy! Sometimes instead of just going to get your number of sessions in you have to listen to your body. Once again, thank you to my amazing fam for pointing out the progress that had gone unnoticed in my eyes. In 6 months I had not taken a single transformation photo, and really had hardly weighed myself bcz I knew the journey would be long and I wouldnt like what I saw. Well sometimes Im wrong🤷‍♀️ it turns out I made some wicked progress, and although Im not at that ideal weight, Im happy for the changes that have been made. If you think the external transformation is stellar, my internal transformation is even better! Im so thankful for trusting a friend and trying the 3 step Thrive Experience, and using it consistently for 6 months. Without it, I didnt have the energy to exercise daily, eat whole foods, and get solid rest each night because my brain fog and exhaustion was so heavy. I dont even know how I got through my days, bcz looking back it was just a big exhausting blur. I had come out of an insanely stressful situation 6 months to starting Thrive, and my body just couldnt recover from the damage on its own. The 3 step process Thrive offered was super easy, and showed me results on the first day, that had amplified by day 10. By filling my nutritional gaps (we all have them) my brain fog had lifted, I quit drinking the 4 cups of coffee each day, was able to have the energy to get my workouts in, and have the momentum to eat healthy-ish. I went from saying Im so tired literally every 5 min to going non stop all day every day from 5:45 when I wake up to 9:45 at night. My kids have noticed the biggest change, primarily in my mood (increased happiness and patience), and in my ability to remember all of their activities and necessities (no more forgetting about the added basketball practice or field trip form that was due last week). I had tried several (no really, SEVERAL) other methods to help rid that horrible brain fog that was holding me back, nothing short of seeing a doctor and having various tests done to make sure nothing was critically wrong with me, and nothing....NOTHING worked until I tried thrive. I remember saying I would eat bark & squawk like a chicken if it would make me feel better, Im just glad it didnt come down to it!

Workouts three this week - back and biceps! ◼ besides Glutes my favorite workout ! Yay! Today’s back and biceps workout from #pwrweek10 done 💪🏻! My third resistance session in a row this week. 🦄✨ I got a little biceps pump! It takes so much willpower to workout after a long day at the hospital but it is so worth it! Once I arrive at the gym my body already starts to throw out endorphins and I get excited and super happy! 🏋🏻‍♀️ Exercise is therapy 🧘🏻‍♀️ - makes you strong - Happy - Increases feeling of self worth - Is good for your mindset and mental health - Lowers cardiovascular risk profile I was so sad about not making progress and very small visual changes but it is a long slow journey. Back and shoulder day done 👊 3 months since I started weight training and committed to @kelseywells #pwrprogram and it’s honestly one of the best things I ever did ❤️ After joining the gym and hitting the cardio hard for a year I lost 19 kilos but then plateaued and began to struggle. Personal trainers at the gym told me I needed to introduce weight training to see the results I wanted and I completely wimped out. I couldn’t afford one on one sessions with a PT, was terrified by the thought of weight training and had no idea where to start. I used to feel so intimidated by the gym outside of the safety of attending classes, and convinced myself I would be laughed at if I tried. How wrong I was! PWR is not only improving me physically but it’s also given me my confidence back, I wake up each day raring to go and gunning for results... and to my surprise they’re appearing already! The only thing I’ve lost since I began is body fat and my tan (the latter I can’t blame on Kelsey 😂) Kelsey you’re a goddess and a truly phenomenal and inspirational woman. SELF CARE Self care! Especially in this holiday seasons we all need it. So what is self care? Self care is ways you cope with life, basically. All aspects including physical and mental. Self care means knowing what your limits are and doing things for YOURSELF. It means finding ways to decompress from your day. It means fuelling your body with the proper nutrients. Self care is also a time of self reflection and learning yourself better. SELF CARE TIPS If you are exhausted, rest! It’s okay to cancel plans! drawing a nice bath doing some reading Taking a night off from technology There are lots of essential oils that help with relaxation. So whatever you do to make yourself happy and yourself relax and recharge- DO IT! For me it’s actually cooking, having some coffee and reading. Just sitting here feeling grateful. In the beginning of sharing my fitness world it was extremely difficult and often terrifying. With each post then, and even still, my heart beats and I just get so nervous to put my thoughts down on “paper”, sometimes with images of “before” that I typically would have died if anyone would have ever seen. But I have met amazing kind people in this community. Women who are feeling like I am or was, who have the same questions and doubts I had and who are in one way or another experiencing the SAME stuff I have. Since opening up about my life, doors have opened, I have tried new things, pushed limits and am continuing to meet people, all while learning more about myself and in general every day. #pwrprogress slowly starting to lean out and build muscle 👍🏻

Me, the claw hand and elf ear making another public appearance. We’re all very happy together. Finally made it back to the gym for the first time in a month last week (this was obviously a before photo 😒) and couldn’t have felt better for it! Went all in with an hour of cardio followed by a very productive legs session (I even hit a lil PB for squats; yes my glutes are paying for it still). Nonetheless I did find I’d lost some of my strength and had to drop my weights down by around 10kg for leg press. But I’m okay with that, as it’ll just take a bit of hard work to get back to where I was before my little hiatus. This is something I’ve gone on about previously - we’re so quick to torture ourselves when we miss workouts or pass up exercise for a little while, but you can always get back to where you were before as long as you start up again, as soon as physically and (often more importantly) mentally possible. I did a mini abs session too and tried some new moves including using TRX (for the first time ever!) for knee tucks - anyone else who uses TRX please hit me up with some great exercises as I’d love to use them more. Yesterday I told my husband I was heading to the gym. He jokingly responded with something along the lines that I needed the workout. His joke a year ago would’ve made me crumble to pieces. Glad that I went and glad that it was over 😂. Last reps with shaky spaghetti arms 😂. Chest&triceps are not my strongest part. But hey, a year from now and Ill be so much further! Fierce leg day by @kelseywells! At one point the song “Humble” (scrillex remix) came on in my headphones and it goes “B!itch be humble....” by Kendrick Lamar and I thought to myself, “when she wrote 3.0, she had this as her anthem!” Haha! Completed a killer #glutesandhamstrings workout! I have terrible hip mobility and struggle with Sump Squats. When I first started the power program, my hips couldn’t handle any weight, not even barbels! Today, I finished off the 6 reps with 50kg/110lbs 😁😎 Couldn’t be prouder!! Progress! This year has been ROUGH. So much disappointment and so much heartache but one of the major silver linings has been my blossoming relationship with fitness! I used to workout to try and look my best and now I workout to get stronger and feel my best! The gym has literally been my safe haven and my therapy! I went from being able to do ZERO pushups in the 1st photo and now I can do 12! From doing only cardio to now having to find a couple days to squeeze in cardio after strength training! I’m so grateful to @kelseywells @sweat PWR program for inspiring me to be persistent and fearless and to pick up those weights and lift! Getting physically stronger and pushing myself in the gym has helped me to do the same outside of it! So as rough as this year has been I’m grateful to be stronger inside and out and I can’t wait to continue getting stronger and stronger in 2019!

It’s been a hot second since I posted. I was traveling for almost a full month, then it was thanksgiving, and I’ll be traveling again in the next couple of days. I promised myself when I started bbg/sweat that I would not fall victim to holiday weight gain this year. Have I indulged a little more than I should have on certain occasions? Diary: Achievements 2018 💥 I bought these jeans at the end of March this year and they just about fit me back then (I was actually so happy I finally found a pair that were remotely comfortable). And this is how they look on me 8 months later ⬆️ can’t really wear them anymore (#problems right?) . I was a bit hesitant posting this, because I didn’t start working out because I wanted go down jeans sizes. I was always a standard M and I was completely fine with that - I’m not very obsessed with numbers, really. My personal goals were: 1️⃣ to do something for myself (fully achieved and super happy ☺️) 2️⃣ to gain muscle (I slowly started...) Don’t misunderstand, I’m chuffed with this result - it just wasn’t my original one 😅 Next year is all about getting stronger for me 💪🏼 bring on 2019 💃🏼 . I work out every single morning (well, 6 days a week). Days like today where I have to go in the afternoon, it is HARD to get my 🍑 there. I’m in the throws of the day. The kids club doesn’t open until 4 which brings me right up to the kids dinner time. I dislike very much working out in the afternoon. But I NEVER regret a workout. Just have to get my 🍑 in the car. My headphones on. Music going and 💥 ✅

Go to bed! Rest is SO important when it comes to being healthy and when it comes to the busy holidays. You have SO much to do and only 24 hours in a day. But GO THE F- to SLEEP. Like the book! Poor sleep is associated with weight gain. Poor sleep is associated with increased caloric intake and hunger. If you sleep less than 7-9 hours it triggers your cortisol levels in your body to retain fuel in your body, and slows your metabolism. If you get a good sleep, your brain is more active, you have better muscle recovery and you FEEL better. You are also less likely to binge on “comfort” foods like cookie dough. Tips to get more sleep! Try to get what you need to get done earlier in the day or as soon as you’re home from work if possible. Less 1 am cleanups and emails! If you are caffeine sensitive, try to avoid caffeine after 1 pm. Although you might be tired, caffeine may keep you up at night and jittery. Stay away from your phone at least 30 minutes before bed. The lights from the phone can be very stimulating and activate your brain to stay awake. Also you might get sucked into a vortex and all of a sudden it’s 3 am and you are researching conspiracy theories on Santa Clause. Relax yourself! Whether that is taking a nice bath before bed, breathing exercises and meditation, or my favourite is diffusing lavender! I listen to relaxing nature music as well sometimes. There’s lots of good playlists on Spotify. If you are tired, go to bed! It’s okay if your body is telling you to sleep! Listen to it! Happy Tuesday!

S A M E ⚡️ W E I G H T This time, 4 years ago, I was searching this app I hardly ever used (Instagram) for inspiration to hopefully FINALLY get my weight in check. I was searching for weight loss workouts and skinny girls to “inspire” me. OH HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED 🙌🏼 If you told my past self I could look great and weigh 158lbs, there is no way I’d have believed you. In my mind, beauty was 120 pounds with bones showing. I’m a product of the 90s beauty and it has taken me 3 years and constant reminding that weight is not a measurement of beauty or success or anything at all really. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I started this journey to lose weight. It was a GREAT reason to start, any reason that gets you up and moving is a good enough reason to start. But it was not a reason that would keep me going for 4 YEARS! 💥 I’m so happy I used this little app and became involved in the fitness community here. Through it I’ve found the a real reason to keep going. BEING HEALTHY MAKES ME HAPPY. My goals have changed from wanting to be someone else to just wanting to be me. I want to be the strongest, healthiest, me I can be. I am now the girl who eats a whole pizza and still feels great.
