When I first meet a lot of my Clients they are concerned as to how theyll fit in exercise every day of the week and theyre worried that if they miss a day itll negatively impact their results 💪🏻 BUT the great new is, this isnt true 🚫🚫 in fact if youre just starting out with training and exercise youre better off aiming for just 3-4 workouts per week with plenty of rest in between to let your body recover 😴 (secret: its the rest that lets you actually make progress! 🤫 ) . . However -- if your goal is weight loss I would recommend you keep active on your rest days -- add in things like a lunchtime walk or trying to hit a daily step target ❤ . . Because in 2015 I reached the best condition of my life before stepping on stage to compete in @wbff_official. At this point in my life I was on comp prep, so my goal was based on aesthetics. Therefore I had to restrict myself from food/s, social events, and gym workouts were a top priority! - 📅Fast forwards to now, my goal is holistic health. I eat with balance, I have a social life, the gym/working out is just part of my life- my life doesn’t revolve around it! Yet I still look pretty much the same (except I defo have more muscle mass on my legs!😄) - 🤩THAT’S why its a GREAT thing. The fact that I’ve managed to maintain a well conditioned physique whilst living an actual life means I now have the best of both worlds. - ☝️That said, it’s important to note that I had to go through the level of commitment in 2015. Not only to get to that conditioning, but to know how to maintain what I have now, and prove it’s possible to live life, look good, & feel great! - 💁🏽‍♀️Thing is, most people who want to achieve their ideal physique go in half heartedly or give up half way... Conquering the day by getting up at 5 AM! __ I am so thrilled to be challenged in a new way before the end of the year! I decided to start waking up really early just so I can get my workouts done in the morning and not drag them out until later and then not even show up. Yall that was such a HUGE struggle for me when I was working at my office job. My health was getting pushed in the back burner and I HATED doing them after work because I was sooo exhausted. So I had to make a change and figure out a way to make the TIME in order for me to still stay on top of my health. 🙌🏻 __ I know what youre thinking, I am not a morning person. Theres no way I can get up that early! And I hear you because guess what?! I wasnt either! Its taken some time, practice, and a lot of trial and error to find the sweet spot! Happy Tuesday 🤗 . En route to train my Gosforth morning crew followed by sports massage, training and a return to Gosforth to round off the day👊 . I thought Id share an exercise with you to give a go and show you a variation to the standard squat🙌 . Heres a dumbbell squat with rotational press. The squat press is a great exercise without the rotation as it uses the full body and particularly targets those glutes and quads as well as the upper body🏋️‍♀️ . So, Why add the rotation? We rotate in our day to day lives constantly, reaching for things, turning around to see, lifting up things...many sports also use rotational movements...so why not strengthen the movement in the gym? 🤔 . Rotational exercises activate the core and also incorporate the obliques which can get neglected from time to time! Core muscles are essential for our day to day posture and comfort so using exercises that incorporate the core should be an essential for all programmes👌 . Core exercises dont have to mean endless sit ups and crunches. Weighted exercises are great core activators and there are many variations to keep you from getting bored. The added press to this move also requires stabilisation in the upper body with added control in the back, so its a great strengthener all round 💪 . I just wanted to have a #proudtrainer moment and with permission from the wonderful @mortane share her recent post where she bravely spoke about her mental health and the strength she has found through the gym 🏋️‍♀️ . Abi came to me at the start of her fitness journey and hadnt been able to leave the house let alone step into a gym...she has since trained with me twice a week and her story tells the rest...well done Abi, you legend 🖐 #Repost @mortane (@get_repost) ・・・ 44kg/97lb ➡️ 50kg/111lb - progress 😊 going to the gym and weight training has helped so much with my anxiety and I’m so glad I started, my mood has improved massively and I feel a lot calmer than I used to. Anxiety ruined my appetite and caused me to become agoraphobic and I barely left my flat 😔 now I go to the gym 4/5 times a week 😃 and I WALK there and back. (In the morning when it’s quiet lol) 🚶🏻‍♀️ I tried for years to fix my anxiety and low mood which was caused by being bullied my whole life ☹️ and some other personal reasons and being diagnosed with a personality disorder last year made me feel even worse, I thought I’d never get better. I tried gradual exposure and walking a little bit each day but tbh that never really helped I still had panic attacks and hated the entire process, what CBT therapy I did get didn’t help me either and no one else in the mental health system has really wanted to help me since so it’s been a battle, but I am on a waiting list now 😊 What helped was finding something I really enjoyed and wanted to do and that’s the reason I can go to the gym most days, it’s difficult to force yourself to do things when you’re unmotivated or don’t really have a reason to do them but now I do so if anyone else is struggling there is hope and you can do it 😄I still have social anxiety and struggle massively talking to people so that’s the next thing I need to work on 🙃 and im not 100% recovered, I still have panic attacks (even in the gym) but they are easier to deal with 🙂 #anxiety #mentalhealth

What motivates you on the wall? I love when routes get awkward and you’ve gotta think slightly out of the box to get it. The hang was unintentional but really relaxing 😁This route had all of that from crunch my body into the crack to some pretty big leg moves. Fun climbing last night. Really pacing my climbs right now, a few climbs with lots of breaks is just about what I can handle. Quality over quantity right now and loving the fact that it’s all about enjoyment right now. M O N D A Y 😴 and it’s “back to the daily grind”...or is it? 🤔 (buckle up, buttercup - issa a long one this morning 📝) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t reallyyyy like this saying. I don’t like it because it implies that your day-to-day is HARD. That it’s a CHORE. That it isn’t what you would CHOOSE to be doing. That goes for your job, your workouts and maybe even your eating habits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I told you that even after this (fairly indulgent) weekend I’m looking forward to re-establishing my regular eating, fuelling my body with the healthy foods it loves 🥑 and (weirdly) get back to my pre-9am workouts, would you believe me? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because; “where’s the ‘grind’”? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is none! Because my motivation behind all of these things is ME 🙋🏼‍♀️ I love my job, I love eating nutritious and wholesome food and I love challenging my body in the gym. All of these things makes me feel physically AND mentally strong 👏🏼 There’s no external or ulterior motive. I’m doing it for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That ‘BIG switch’ from external motivation (e.g. for aesthetic goals/validation from others/fear of being punishment) to internal motivation (eating well, exercising and generally looking after yourself day-to-day becomes if FEELS good) is much more empowering and much less of a ‘grind’. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hand-in-hand with a 80/20 approach to your diet, the weekend become a bit less ‘all or nothing’ and your Monday’s a bit less full of rules and guilt (but maybe I’ll rant about that another time) 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And if you *are* using this saying because it’s legit how you feel; what positive change in behaviour/mindset/goals could you think about making to take the ‘grind’ out of your Monday? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have a happy day 💛 • • • #monday #mondaymotivation #fitness #healthy #healthylifestyle #motivation #lookafteryourself #balance #weekend #fitnessjourney #balanceddiet #fitfamuk #strengthfeed #goodforyoucreations #livewell #intuitiveeating #nutrition #nourish #nourishnotpunish #strongisnotasize #positivity #wellness #realtalk
