Haven’t really posted since returning from vacation due to, to put it frankly, subpar workouts. Nothing gets me more agitated than sandbagging my way through a long work day, going to the gym pumped to train and then feeling as if something is off. For me, once this occurs, one thing leads to another and I’m left with nothing other than agitation. However, today (and the end of my hamstring dominant leg day yesterday) have me looking forward more than ever in regards to training. Amazing Delt/bicep workout at the home gym yielding not only a better mind muscle connection, but also better form and more load per movement. Here’s to growing🥂 . Count ‘em up! Haven’t lost my back squat mojo after my long hiatus. This isn’t going to be a permanent change to the program, just switched it in because my right shoulder was feeling really extra tight from the trash upper session last night (no post or video of it, it was really awful). When i started sharing my fitness journey, I made it a point that however slow or undesirable my progress may be, Ill be sticking to a natural and sustainable growth. Ive been including powerlifting in my routine lately. It gives the explosive strength one needs, especially for obstacle course racing. One year ago today, @ibamsey and I had an EPIC feast at the Taco Bell Cantina in Las Vegas for my birthday🌮 I felt absolutely terrible afterwards but we continued to eat like crap, because it was my birthday! One year later, almost 20lbs down, I’ve found a love of amateur bodybuilding, 2 weeks out from my first fitness competition, STILL smashing fast food, but this time in just one glorious cheat meal 🍔🍟 after wrecking my “special” leg day 😂😂 (I almost cried but felt AMAZING afterwards, thanks @radiantlt!!👏🏼👏🏼) Ian sat me down tonight and told me how proud he is of how far I’ve come, and I’m honestly so proud of myself as well- and I’ve never felt better than I do on a high protein diet with heavy lifting! My biggest life obstacle on top of everything right now is getting more productive time management skills. I’m capable of doing more and doing better in just about every avenue I’m walking down right now but I’m lacking in the structure and self enforcement to take care of business consistently to my best capacity. I’ve been filling my plate with more commitments for my time than ever and I’ve not made significant changes to my lifestyle and daily life to accommodate those commitments. It’s not that I’m incapable of doing these things. I haven’t put the effort in to try and break my well set habits to change with the changing demands of my life. That needs to change. It’s no ones fault but my own that I have had trouble with 100% follow through on the changes that need to happen. And I’m going to make it happen. Somehow Ive stopped doing lots of pressing and started focusing on flys. I like cables because of the constant tension throughout the movement. Dumbbells u lose that last bit of squeeze at the top of the fly unless you press the weights together.
