Strengthening our backs one pull-up at a time 💪🏼 It has been a LONG week with exams, and board reviews, but that is no excuse to not set aside that time for YOU. We’re in 32 credit hours this semester, getting acupuncture certified, got a job outside of school, and we are studying for our Part I national boards which is in January. If WE can do it then you can too 😘 People will try to pull you down, and sometimes it’s not always easy, but that should only make you want to push harder and be STRONGER. This simple move from back in time has so many benefits. So we will start our first “exercise” post out easy 😜 Benefits of just doing a pull-up: 1️⃣Muscles targeted: Latissimus Dorsi, rhomboid muscles (major and minor), Biceps, triceps, serratus, pec (minor and major), and abdominals. 2️⃣Improving that GRIP strength. 3️⃣Maintaining balanced strength throughout upper body 4️⃣Increases heart rate for cardiovascular benefit 5️⃣Strengthening your back helps strengthen your core 6️⃣Cross-over ability—practicing pulling-up will help you with reverse exercises such as push-ups, etc. Pull-ups can also be a great stress reliever, like any exercise obviously, however, being a harder move to master really makes you PUSH. I see myself so differently than everyone else sees me. People tell me, “you’re jacked” or “you look so good.” But I see myself completely different, whenever I look at myself I can’t see the progress I’m making. I am my worst critic. I feel like most people in the bodybuilding/ fitness industry perceive themselves as something else, and they aren’t able to see the progress. Everyone has some form of this, wether it be in fitness or not. This is why I force myself to always take progress pictures, this really helps me see changes in myself over a long period of time rather than looking at short term changes. Muscle takes forever to build. I’ve been doing this for almost 3 years... practically every single day sometimes twice a day. It’s taken me forever just to see the slightest changes in my body, and that’s okay. When you’re down about not being in the place you want to be, keep working hard and take progress pictures! Stop comparing yourself to others and start comparing yourself now, to when you first started. Tell yourself that you’re proud once in awhile and give yourself props for all the hard work you’ve put yourself through. Believe it or not, this is the ‘before’ photo. Wait till ya see the ‘after’ 🧘‍♂️ . . . This is a forearm stand with splits, but as you can see I have TIGHT hamstrings and therefore cannot create a straight line with my legs in splits. My body needs two things To happen for my hamstrings to continue to open. 1. I need to strengthen and open my hips, 2. I need to strengthen and stretch the hamstrings and lower lumbar. Also, I need to maintain core strength to protect the lower back. . . . Who said learning inversions was easy? I don’t do inversions because they are easy, I do them because they challenge my body which forces my mind to focus on the present challenges. This focus (my mind) and challenge (in body) create connections and neurological pathways, mind and body connection. This is what inversions mean to me. In order to properly train each muscle, you are going to have to work in different planes of movements targeting different functions. For example, the latissimus dorsis functions include primarily shoulder adduction and extension Thats why you would focus on vertical pulling movements like pull ups. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The mid-back/upper back refers to the traps, rhomboids, and even posterior deltoids (although those are shoulder muscles). Thats why you would want to focus on movements that allow scapular retraction. *Think pinching a grape between your shoulder blades.* Movements including horizontal abduction, like a barbell row flaring the elbows would likely activate these mid/upper back muscles more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The low back mainly refers to the spinal extensors. These are trained when you lift your back like in a deadlift and its variants. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your back training should consist of a variety of these movements. Sağ kol ile sol bacağı biraz kaldır ve indir. Sonra sol kol ile sağ bacak için aynı şeyi yap. Yüzer gibi görünene kadar hızlan. 2. Bacakları çırpmaya devam ederken, dirsekleri gövdenin yanına yaklaştırıp sonra tekrar ileri uzatmaya başla. 3. Bacakları yerden biraz yukarıda ama sabit tut, direnç bandını yakala. Kollar uzun, omuz genişliğinde açık.
