Learn to land! This is why learning to land is so important. Jumping is avoidable but if you leave the ground you will always have to land! Teaching someone to jump without first teaching someone to land is like getting on a plane with a pilot that hasnt learn how to land the plane. Dump! A long term, ultimate water goal is about 15 cups for men and about 11 cups a day for women. _____________________ Secret Weapon #4- Sleep Associations between sleep duration and weight loss are well established. Evidence suggests there is a strong relationship between sleep duration and healthy weight. Hormones that help regulate our appetite called leptin and ghrelin will fluctuate out of range when we do not meet our sleep needs and therefore leave us feeling hungrier. It is found that 7-8 hours of sleep each night is the sweet spot! _____________________ Secret Weapon #5 – Food Journaling Visuals speak loudly! Try writing down what you eat and drink for at least a week. I promise something will jump out at you about your nutrition plan. Journaling helps us stay accountable and motivated. All our winter wood (and then some) in easy to handle slabs. All oak. Though its a little green yet, it took less than HALF A DAY worth of time hauling. There are benefits to having a sawmill 3 miles away 😊. I love the annual work of putting up firewood (so much.), but it would have taken a solid work week (or 2,) to cut and haul this from our property, and this is a year for practicality, not romance. $15 a bundle, just a little under a cord in each bundle. Ahhh... I pondered the theme of the day as I snuck out for a sneaky coffee this afternoon and it goes something like this.... -Ditch soft drink. Altogether. Drink water. -Before counting calories, start with wholefoods -Instead of ditching dairy, take the sugars out of your tea and coffee -Dont blame gluten for what the Big Mac did to your belly -Please, please dont keep fretting about that piece of cake you ate 3 days ago at your own birthday party -Dont give up that glass of wine you enjoy 1 or 2 nights per week, only to binge drink once a fortnight in desperation.... -Forget about eating diet food for 2 meals a day and then being so hungry by 4pm you have to stop at the servo for a block of chocolate. -White potato is not to blame for all of your problems. -Exercise is not punishment. Its a privilege. -Just because your friend is Paleo, doesnt mean you have to be. Its also ok if she wants to be. #Basicsfirst. In the Exercise 101 handbook, the plank would probably be in chapter 1, paragraph 1. It’s such a ubiquitous exercise that it is often overlooked. 😐 ▪️ The plank should be the foundation of all core training regardless of what you do physically. It is so versatile an exercise and can be progressed in so many ways. 💪 ▪️ Before you can do the fancy stuff, you have to know how to do the basic version well first. The elbow/low plank. ▪️ In video one, you will see the common mistakes: ▪️ 1. Shoulders either too far forward or behind the elbow. 2. Hands/wrists together. Meaning we are spending yet more time internally rotated in the shoulder. Not a great position but more on that in another post. 3. Under active around shoulder blades (known as the scapular), which means they wing out. 4. Sticking the bum in the air (known as an anterior pelvic tilt). Which in turns makes it hard for the core musculature and glutes to engage, effectively creating a sag in the midline. 5. Legs not tight (especially the muscles at the front of the leg known as the Quadriceps or quads), meaning we get soft in the knee, which leads to loss of tension. ▪️ Swipe to see video two. You will see what I consider a strong elbow plank position: ▪️ 1. Shoulders over elbows. 2. Hands/wrists apart. 3. Actively pushing the shoulder blades apart (known as protraction of the scapular). 4. Tale tucked between the legs (known as a posterior pelvic tilt). This brings the top of the hips closer to the bottom of the ribs, meaning the core muscles can engage effectively. Once in this position, focus on pulling the belly button in towards the spine. 5. Quads muscles fully engaged giving a tight knee. ▪️ Aim to be able to complete 5 rounds of 60 seconds holds, remaining active throughout. ⏱ ▪️ This will stand you in good stead for further progressions and help you learn how to activate your core for more complex movement patterns. ▪️ Don’t skip the basics. Learn how activate before you complicate. ‼️ ▪️ Don’t let your gym buddies skip them either. Falls ich mich also mit Tipps zur Ernährung und Training zurück halte, liegt das primär an deinen Gewohnheiten, die du vorher fixen darfst. Es hat überhaupt nichts damit zu tun, wer du als Mensch bist. Ich glaube wir sind alle großartig und perfekt, auch wenn wir uns selbst zu wenig wert schätzen. Also... wer immer du bist, ich finde dich großartig und perfekt. Das gilt jedoch nicht für deine Gewohnheiten. Da gibt es mitunter erheblichen Handlungsbedarf. Fazit: Halte ich mich beim nächsten Smalltalk und bei Trainings- und Ernährungsfragen zurück, nimm es nicht persönlich. Es macht keinen Unterschied ob du fastest oder 5 Mahlzeiten am Tag isst. Solange die Basics nicht passen, sind das nicht deine Themen... Und nochmal: Du bist großartig und bist nicht deine Gewohnheiten. I am absolutely loving this deadbug variation 🐞 Deadbugs can be made as simple or as difficult as required for your clients ability but a great core killer overall. 💥 Transverse abdominals (TVA) are sometimes overlooked for the hunt for ABS. The TVA is always a go-to for me when testing as it is dysfunctional in most, activations your TVA is key to spinal stabilisation!
