Bakasana. Definetly an arm balance & it tones and strengthens the abs and arms. So, knees wider than hips,lean torso forward between the inner thighs, stretch your arms forward & bend your elbows a bit,hands on the floor and back of the upper arm against the shin, shins into ur armpits, lift the balls of your feet and lean forward even more taking the weight of the torso onto the back of the upper arms. Always trying to press the inner hands firmly, try not to compress the back of the neck. Remeber that we are all different and yes i can give you instructions into how to get into the asana but what’s most important here is for you to listen to your body. If you feel a bit worried about hitting your head on the floor place a pillow or a block infront of you, if your wrists are hurting curl the finger slightly but if it hurts alot get out of the asana. Little by little try to keep urself tucked tight, keeping your buttocks and the heels close together, it takes time take it here first and then you can see what else your body can do, after all this is what is all about to get to know ur body and you will be amazed. Breathing is often ignored, and it fundamental to stay alive...we cant go more than a few minutes without air 🎈Being a good breather means being able to use the diaphragm and breathe how were supposed to as humans. This allows us to relax all of the other accessory muscles to breathing around the neck and shoulders 🎈Being a good breather allows you to tackle stress head on. It gives you the ability to control your nervous system to get you back to the parasympathetic branch whenever you shouldnt be ramped up and in fight or flight mode 🎈Being a good breather means less anxiety, depression, and more clarity. It means less muscle tension and less pain. Better sleep, digestion, and overall quality of life. Better performance, more stability, strength, endurance etc. 🎈 Sounds crazy, but good diaphragmatic breathing day to day can literally replace hundreds of medications that simply cover up symptoms. Regrann from @optimize.physiotherapy - The breathing series part 7: Using cold exposure to train your ability to breathe diaphragmatically 💪 🎈 Cold exposure is a stressor, just like any other stressor in your life. Exposure to cold will trigger a sympathetic (fight or flight) response in your body. This will include elevated shoulders, shallow neck/upper chest breathing etc. 🎈knowing this, you can use cold exposure to train your body to maintain and return to a parasympathetic state (rest and relax branch of the nervous system) through deep breathing 🎈 Simply expose yourself to cold in the form of a cold shower, ice bath, or going outside in the cold weather. Then focus on calming your breath down and breathing deeply and slowly using your diaphragm. 5 seconds in, 10 seconds out (or whatever you want) 🎈If you do it properly, you will be able to relax fully, breathe calmly and deeply, and completely ignore the cold (ie. stressor).
