When it comes to weight loss we must adhere to a calorie deficit but more isnt always better. - I almost always recommend a slow approach somewhere around a 10% deficit. The main reason for this is adherence and sustainability, whats the point of creating a greater deficit if your unlikely to stick to it. A small deficit will allow you to have enough energy to move/ train but at the same time allow you to enjoy yourself socially. With a small deficit with adequate protein and resistance training you should be able to maintain a large amount of your muscle mass. - If you create a greater deficit you begin to run the risk of creating an unsustainable and strict lifestyle. You may be tempted to cut the calories quite a lot to reach your goals quicker but what happens when you get there? Do you continue on low calories? What do you do when your mates are out enjoying themselves with a less restrictive lifestyle? It will also be a lot harder to find the energy to move/train with muscle retention also being an issue. Fat loss food by @thefashionfitnessfoodie - As convincing as 292,600,004 articles on google are, there really isn’t such a thing as a ‘fat loss’ food.⠀ ⠀ All food we digest contains energy, which means all foods contribute to our calorie total for the day ⚡️This isn’t a ‘bad’ thing - it’s how you survive, live your life and have the inclination to read my excessively long Instagram captions.⠀ ⠀ Fat-loss simply occurs when across time, you are eating LESS calories (energy) than you’re using through activity (such as living said life, scrolling down my captions etc.)⠀ ⠀ That being said; at the cost of actually making this tiny square useful beyond ‘lol everything ! ! !’, eating in a calorie deficit with a diet which;⠀ ⠀ 1. is relatively high in protein (to promote mostly fat-loss vs muscle loss.) 2. is fairly micronutrient dense (so you don’t feel shitty and get ill. Cus that’s not conducive for fat-loss.) 3. is still inclusive of lower protein, less filling, less micronutrient dense foods you love. Just in appropriate amounts (so you are still nailing 1 and 2, but within your deficit.) 4. is bloody sensible. Cutting your kcals stupidly low will make standing up feel as exhausting as 4 sets of deadlifts. Let alone having energy to do 4 sets of deadlifts.⠀ ⠀ There’s no universal ‘best’ food for weight loss. It’s too simplistic to say low calorie foods or whole foods are best. Impressed by America’s attempt to not hide calorie intake. 🍔 I have to say one thing I’m super impressed by since being in the States is that literally every type of food wether it be packaged, from a menu or even take away all have the calorie intake and amount of servings clearly labelled. This has made it super easy to count calories while I have been away, not that I am religiously as I think you should enjoy your holidays but it certainly made me more mindful with my selections. This is something Australian restaurants/ chains could be more consistent & open too! without a doubt I have struggled to find ‘healthy options’ in some areas while on the go but not once have I not been able to find exactly what I am consuming. For someone who has done study on Nutrition I can usually calculate or have a rough idea of how much would be in most foods but for the general population I think this can make a huge difference on calorie awareness and also simplify food choices for someone who is trying to keep themselves at a good body weight. Investigate ⬇️⬇️ Next time you are in a restaurant (In Australia) try to find the intake amount on each food, I can almost be certain you cannot find it on the menu or if you ask the staff they probably will not know either. The reasoning behind this is because they don’t want us to know! I was on a team call tonight listening to one of my Coach teammates tell her story. I’ve heard it many times and always have new takeaways. Today’s takeaway was “Trust the process”. Yep. Seems pretty simple. ⁣ ⁣ It’s a little long.....stick with me 😊. ⁣ ⁣ A few years ago I gained a bunch of weight. We’re talking equal to the weight of the average fifth grader 😮. I felt sooooo tired all the time. I’d get really tired in the middle of the day. I started taking naps on the weekends because I just couldn’t make it through the day. I developed sleep apnea and had to use a “snore machine”. I also developed borderline high blood pressure. I wasn’t headed in a good direction. ⁣ ⁣ I’d try to run/walk a couple times a week and tell myself that was going to result in dropping a bunch of weight. Run/walking 2-3 times a week wasn’t enough to undo the weight gain. Especially when I wasn’t changing my eating habits. I’d still tell myself I was making progress though. ⁣ ⁣ Why? Why was I so tough on myself that I refused to follow a simple plan to help me reach my goal? ⁣ ⁣ I just had to learn to “Trust the process”. Bingo! (My teammate is really smart!). ⁣ ⁣ Thankfully, my online fitness groups helped me lose over 50 lbs and lose the snore machine! I have gained confidence and energy!!!! ⁣ ⁣ We check in daily for accountability for workouts & nutrition. It’s a great support system! Ready to trust the process and join our group? ⁣
