It can be tough to count calories when you’ve suffered from starvation diets in the past. It’s difficult to break that loop that can turn into obsessive counting, restricting, and even competition with the self to see how little you can eat or how much weight you can lose. I do think it’s good to track calories if you’re working to rewire and keep track of your nutrition, especially if you’re working to break a cycle of overeating or under-eating. . In the past I was overweight, then I suffered from anorexia and bulimia, and now I am overweight again. Very overweight. I do have to mind my habits when counting calories and take stock of my thoughts while doing so. I feel that I’m in a good enough place where I can count calories to get ahold of what I’m putting into my body. I’ve been out of control with eating, maybe my whole life, but especially lately through my chronic illness. It’s been an unfortunate event that I was not prepared to deal with, and I’m, unfortunately, wired to use food as a solve-all. I’m working to change that. Counting calories this time around has been an enjoyable teaching that makes me feel like I have more control over my health. The idea of feeling “control” when it comes to eating is something I need to examine more, but it is one more step in the direction of mindfulness when it comes to my health. . . So results are in. Landed early hours Saturday morning, 6lb gain. Had a relaxed weekend which included a Macdonald’s, Domino’s and a chinese!! 🐷 Weighed again this morning to wipe the slate clean and it’s an 8lb gain altogether which could have deffo been worse after eating my body weight in baklava. First day back on plan today. I know what youre thinking. Youre thinking: SHAUNA what is going on with those roast potatoes they look amazing. Par boil potatoes in chicken stock. Put them in the actifry with one crumpled up stock cube and a few sprays of frylite. I added a little water every 10 mins for 30 mins. I didnt make this recipie up I saw it on someones Instagram and for the life of me cannot remember who. The original recipie is for the oven so I just tweaked it to suit the actifry . 1.5 cups of low fat cottage cheese, and 5 servings of croutons for 420 calories. Breakfast was 360 calories but forgot to take a picture. So Im at 780 calories total so far today and its just about 2pm. And I already have my dinner planned just have to figure the exact calories!

I know it’s been tough at times and sometimes you probably woke up feeling like a failure, but to us you always have and always will have a cape on your back. I’ve never counted you as a single mother because you’ve done so much for us both with as little as you had to offer. You’ve been my rock since I was around 8 years old. You’ve been there when my mental health has taken its toll, through heart brakes, tantrums and tough times and you’ve never once turned your back on me, for that I’m so thankful. I love you beyond words. ⠀ ⠀⠀ I’m a strong independent women because a strong independent women raised me. 💜

(Not me) I am so greatful the positive thoughts my parents instilled for me, that conflict between what is healthy, good, and what will hurt me physically and emotionally. I am not pro ana, I am not pro anything. I hope that whoever is reading this, and wishes to Change themselves, to rethink about whether it is necessary/good for them to lose weight.
