Our human body hosts 40 thousand different species of bacteria, 5 million species of fungi, and 300 thousand species of parasites, in fact we have more bacteria cells in us than human cells. We have about 20 thousand human genes, but up to 20 million bacteria genes making us less than 1% human!! This is our microbiome. We are a beautiful complex ecosystem. The microbiome impacts everything about our health - Digestion, nutrient absorption, how we feel, our mood, our energy, our cravings, our sleep, our hormones, our immune system, how medications affect us, literally every aspect of our health. Maintaining a healthy microbiome is essential to our well being and longevity. Everything we do affects our microbiome, from the foods we eat, through the chemicals we are exposed to, to our stress levels and even our thoughts. I get asked the question a lot... what do you eat when you go out? I try to eat about 90% at home because there are so many hidden ingredients when going out to eat. I ate at a very upscale restaurant in the area last week - and we were sat where I could see the chef cooking my food. In something I thought was pretty innocent was very eye opening for me- I watched the chef POUR 2 ladles of vegetable oil into my dish alone. Over a cup of oil! And this is not the healthy oils. These are the oils that cause inflammation in our bodies eventually leading to dis-ease (think heart disease). I’m talking about soybean, corn, canola, etc. You don’t want to consume these oils raw and certainly not heated! . . This is an option I choose when I need something quick or didn’t plan in advance- The Green Goddess Cobb at panerabread. It comes with chicken but I usually upgrade to the steak. And instead of using the dressing I ask for olive oil on the side, squeeze a few lemons and salt and pepper. . Instead of bread, I go for an apple 🍎 . I don’t normally post photos at the gym because as soon as I take a photo, I’ll find at least something that I wish I could change in the photo of myself. I barely do it because the gym is my happy place. The place where no negative thoughts should be consumed. But also somewhere that we can feel most vulnerable. We’re the first to judge ourselves. We’re the first to see the smallest detail in ourselves. We’re the first to say something looks bad on us. We’re the first to say “I need to workout” “I need to stop eating so badly”. But the truth is, nobody else sees this in us. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen girls (myself included) look at themselves in the mirror of the change room and then automatically alter their expression. I think social media is great but I also think that we compare ourselves physically more than ever now. To be honest, I don’t often get these thoughts but lately it’s been creeping up on me. I think it’s pale life setting in and also not being in the clearest mental state during these colder months. I’m not looking for any attention for this, I just want to be honest and raw and hoping you guys can relate. 💛 we’ve got this! This is something I get when I eat certain foods as they do not sit well with me or eating large quantities. . Things I try to avoid, Dairy and Gluten are my main issues but I also find some good foods do also cause me to bloat, oats, sweet potato and even zucchini. . A good way to track this is to see how your body reacts after eating a certain food and keep track of this is and see if it is a regular occurrence when eating particular foods. D I G E S T I O N// In my journey of learning about health and wellness I began with food. I studied its effects and benefits and then experimented with what my body loved and hated. I didn’t know it was all internal and that I had digestion problems until my mentor turned me on to the digestive supplements that turned his life around. Por ejemplo: siempre tienes que desayunar y comer en 20 minutos por el trabajo, por lo tanto ya cualquier comida la harás de esa forma, se ha creado un hábito. 🗣Son muchas las personas que comen de forma rápida y descuidada. Sin embargo, la manera de masticar y el tiempo que se le dedica impactan directamente en la salud. Recordemos que la digestión empieza en la boca, en la masticación. 🔴¿CUÁNTAS MASTICADAS SON SUFICIENTES?🤔 La mayoría de los estudios sugieren hasta 40 masticadas. En mi opinión creo que no hay que obsesionarse con esto, simplemente masticar hasta notar que la comida está triturada, hecha una pasta.
