Nick Dacres is one of our qualified personal trainer at NRG GYM, also Mixed Martial Arts Student and former fitness model. Here is his top tips for improving your fitness when in the gym! Trade Steady-State Cardio for Interval Training The road to a leaner body isnt a long, slow march. Its bursts of high-intensity effort paired with slower, recovery efforts. Fifteen to 20 minutes of interval training performed like this can burn as many calories as an hour of traditional, steady-state cardio. And unlike the slow stuff, intervals can keep your body burning long after the workout ends. Trade Machine Exercises for Free Weights Machines are built with a specific path the weight has to travel -- one that wasnt designed for you. If youre too tall, too short or your arms or legs arent the same length, that fixed path wont match your physiology, and youll increase the likelihood of injury and develop weaknesses. Trade your machine exercises for dumbbells, barbells and medicine balls to build strength in ways more specific to your body, while also working all the smaller stabilizing muscles that machines miss. Increase Your Range of Motion Add more work to each rep and increase the efficiency of your workout by increasing the range of motion -- the distance the main motion of the exercise travels to complete the rep. Squat deeper. Drop the weight until its an inch or two above your chest. Raise the step for step-ups. Elevate your front or back foot on lunges. Get more from each move and your body will thank you. Dont Stretch; Warm Up Static stretching done just before activity can reduce your power output and increase your risk of certain injuries. Instead, perform an active warmup that gets your body ready for exercise with exercise, increasing your heart rate, firing up your nervous system and getting your muscles used too

The worst thing about excuses is that often they’re valid! However, you can’t let them get in the way of what you want/need to do! . These are the 3 excuses we here the most that supposedly prevent people from exercising regularly. . In regards to the money and time, often if you care enough about exercising, you’ll find a way to make it work! There are plenty of time and cost effective options, such as walking. A 10 minute walk here and there soon adds up. But also, don’t be afraid to invest the time and money in yourself, people don’t invest enough time and money into themselves! . In regards to not liking gyms, this is a very generic statement, there are plenty of good gyms out there! Do your research. Regardless, you can still exercise outside of a gym! As previous, walking doesn’t require any equipment. . Don’t let excuses like these prevent you from bettering yourself. .
