I love improving people’s quality of life but its very rewarding when you know you’ve played a part in keeping them alive as well. 6 months ago Bryan had to have open heart surgery with a double bypass and his doctors told him he had to get his health sorted otherwise his time would be up and that’s what inspired him and his wonderful wife Lisa to invest in their health and fitness. Fast forward to today and both of them have completely transformed their fitness levels and vastly improved their health markers. The doctors are stunned at Bryan’s recovery pace and gone are the days where Lisa or Bryan need their workouts altered just so they can participate in them. They now excel in them. Yes, there’s been some hard sessions, tough lessons and humility required to have some punk 30yr old trainer shout at them to push for more - but their results are testament to the amount of time, effort and consistency they’ve shown during this time. This was my 9:30pm meal... 🍽 Why did I eat a meal at 9:30pm? Because I was at an 850 calorie deficit for the day. Sure I could’ve just skipped it and had a significant deficit, but it was post workout and if I skipped it I wouldn’t have fed my body the nutrients it needs to repair and also, to not send my body into starvation mode. This meal was still only 175 calories but it filled me. I almost couldn’t finish it. I’m not counting calories per say. But when I see that big of a deficit I know I need to eat something. I’ve more so been focused on my macros. While I’m balancing them, and eating until I’m full.. I’ve noticed I’m not even reaching the minimum daily caloric goal on 1200 calories. Not even 1000. Which is horrible for how much I’m on the go all the time between work and school, but now I’m adding 1.5-2hr long gym sessions. I’m definitely going to have to work my appetite up to get proper nutrition. So starting my strength block this week with 140kg 4 x 6 Squats. After doing weeks and weeks of traditional hypertrophy work it’s time add weight and lessen the reps to build strength. Which is HEALTHIER?! 🍫 NEITHER. But... 🍫 They’re definitely not one in the same. 🍫 To the untrained eye some might think these are the same. Similar size, both sold at the more boujee grocery stores or in the “natural” sections of regular grocery stores. They both have lots of “natural” flavors and boast being free from chemicals or “BS”. 🍫 But is one better for you? 🍫 My answer: it depends on who you are and what your goal is. 🍫 If all you care about is taste and texture, the Perfect bar is the way to go. If you want something that will fill you up on the go but still fit into a lowered calorie diet, the RX Bar is the winner. 🍫 Why? 🍫 It’s all in the labels. If you have any type of weight or body-related goal, you likely won’t get there by just going off what tastes good. You’ll have to, at some point, know and control the amount of food you put into your body. 🍫 The Rx bar has a moderate amount of each macro, and is lower calorie overall. So it’s great for a filling snack to go and it won’t break your macro or calorie “bank”, allowing you room to eat other foods you enjoy and need. The perfect bar, while perfectly tasty and slightly higher in protein, has more fat than many cuts of steak. And for what’s pretty much glorified peanut butter rolled with some chocolate chips, it sure has a lot of carbs and sugar. I am feeling super good about my cut 2.5 weeks in 😁 My mindset is completely different than any other prep and it’s a game changer! - I’m super pumped because I got a squat PR today of 165x5 for 4 sets - first video followed by different angles of my front squats...I’m going to keep adding weight each week. 🙌🏽 (I’m just waiting to see how many people comment on my biceps from the last video 😂) - After my workout I taught @morfittrainingcentres downtown and dropped off a gift to one of my clients who graduated my habit based coaching program. Then I spent the afternoon with my niece, nephew and @karen_klip which was lovely. I then dropped off one of my @katyskleanbars orders and got my car washed. Should you avoid gluten to lose weight? There is absolutely no evidence that simply getting rid of gluten will result in weight loss. Eating gluten free only causes you to eat more whole, unprocessed foods where the options you have left are basically fruits, veggies ,lean meat, legumes. This basically tricks you into consuming lesser calories overall. . . For eg- Youd avoid that double cheese burger and fries and rather consume a chicken salad - which basically avoids a lot of calories. Eating lesser calories than usual, overtime results in weight loss. . . Bottom line : Gluten free diets are and should be consumed by only those are unable to tolerate gluten on a biological level. Which doesnt mean, one shouldnt quit gluten if they wish to. There is no harm in avoid gluten but neither does it make any sense spending on expensive gluten free food when your goal is weight loss . . You lose weight when you expend more calories than you consume - NOT BY AVOIDING GLUTEN.

STRONG MINDSET: in all honesty, I almost deleted this post considering I don’t find the videos flattering and my physique is not currently up to the standards I hold for myself. Nonetheless, I aim to show my truth and acknowledge that although I am pretty freakin strong, I’ll use this as motivation to lean down a bit. Anyhow, here’s a lil warmup I did today in my backyard using just a medicine ball and bodyweight. These movements won’t build strength but if you’ve had a stationary day, a little bit of activity is better than not at all. Try to squeeze in these simple exercises next time you need to get that blood flowing!

#Repost @marcinevin ・・・ It’s safe to say that by looking at the foods listed here, we could all agree that they are “healthy.” Well unless you’re asking keto zealot, then maybe not the rice and banana. # But regardless of how healthy and even nutrient dense the foods you’re eating are, if your goal is fat loss, you still have to pay attention to portion size. Especially when you’re eating more calorie dense foods like avocado, peanut butter, nuts, dried fruit, etc. # In isolation, the calorie difference between the two serving sizes in these picture seems minimal. But if you’re eating an extra 20 calories here and an extra 50 calories there, and doing so over multiple meals, eventually it’s going to add up. And these seemingly little oversights can be a reason why your weight won’t budge. # What’s tricky about eyeballing portions is that the variance between a small and a medium or an extra ounce or lick is often nothing more than a few more bites, which is hardly noticeable when you’re actually eating. # If you’re used to eyeballing your portions, keep in mind it’s easy to underestimate how many calories you’re actually taking in. Or, if you are  tracking your foods in an app but only using generic metrics like small or medium rather than exact amounts, there can be quite a bit of discrepancy. # This isn’t to say you must always be 100% precise with your tracking. If you’ve been seeing results simply eyeballing your portions, then keep at it. But if you’ve found yourself at a plateau that you just can’t seem to break, try being a little more meticulous with your measuring by using a digital food scale to measure your portions. The difference in what you think you’re eating and how much you actually are might be shocking. And the very reason you’re staying stuck.
