August 19 / October 9 I figured I would start sharing more of my journey. Every step of the way. I think it’s important to inspire others and share your knowledge on how you attained you goals. I could not have been where I am now without the inspiration of other girls on their fitness journey! So much information out there now, highly recommend watching YT videos. I was in a really bad place earlier this year. It seemed so impossible to me. I’ve been trying to lose weight since I was 14. Trust me when I say I know it’s hard, but anybody can do it, it just comes down to self discipline. Seems like every year we tell ourselves that Jan 1 will be ever changing for ourselves. Why wait? The best way to get to where you wanna go is to start now. I used to tell myself oh I’ll start Monday, or I’m pmsing so hard rn I’ll start in a couple days. Excuses will only restrain your growth. Make it a pact to make NO excuses under any circumstance. Your having a bad day? Would you rather have 20 minutes of happiness or everlasting happiness? I don’t know about you but as I’m eating McDonald’s LG sweet tea, fries nuggets, or a fatass bowl of pasta, if feels good while your eating it right? But immediately after you regret it and feel so gross and bloated. Feed you body with healthy nutritional foods. Salmon, chicken, lots of veggies. Lots of water and only water! You’ll feel so energized, feel way better than you ever have I promise. Just copped a new copy of one of my all time favorite books. Before I read this I was at my largest weight since high school, ultra lethargic, ultra lazy, ultra disorganized, and just kind of coasting through life by making big push efforts when my back was against the wall and then going back to being lazy. Instead this book taught me that every action, decision, and habit is a meaningful micro-addition to whatever you will become (be that good or bad) and that we need to always tailor those micro-additions so that they serve our vision. It literally changed my entire approach to life. I highly recommend it for anyone that needs to kickstart their progress toward any specific goal or to just becoming a more goal oriented person in general. Hardy knows what the hell is up. I didn’t wanna work out tonight. I’ve been on/off all week being a mess. One minuet I’m keeping myself busy and preoccupied, the next - I just want to curl up in a ball. I knew I had to workout though, I couldn’t let my girls in the #turnupsquad down. Their my team and we have each other’s backs no matter what 💜 I am doing the hardest thing imaginable in 14 hours. It’s probably going to break my heart but it’s what’s right. I got home work, got some doggy loves 🐶💕 put on my favorite workout tank top, played some NF as loud as possible, danced around, stop-drop-selfied 🤳🏼 and did about 673 burpees for our squadsquad workout tonight. I finished that workout feeling proud and a bit of weight lifted off my shoulders 💜 I’m strong and a good person. Doing hard things is never easy, but how you carry yourself through them defines your character.

I’ve ran 103 races since I started running in 2012. I’ve gone sub-4 in the marathon once (out of 8) and sub-2 in the half marathon three times (out of 31). I love my runner numbers just as much as the next person (I have a spreadsheet and everything 😂), but those numbers don’t fully capture who I am as a runner and I refuse to let those numbers define and limit me. Those numbers don’t tell the story of races ran with others, a defeated mind, a beat up body, or races ran just for fun. Wherever you are in your running journey remember that strength isn’t always reflected in race times and that running has highs, lows, and plenty of plateaus. Just keep showing up 💪🏽 #ChicagoMarathon
