Its crazy to think Konway will be 4 years old tomorrow! 😭 . Hes bigger. Im smaller. . As I sit here holding back tears, reflecting on our transformations, I am just in awe of the physical and mental changes that have happened in my life over the past few years! I remember when I never thought I could look and feel the way I do now and I am so proud that I can be a positive example for my kids. . In September 2015, we had a Royals themed party for my little mans first birthday and I remember being pumped I could wear a t-shirt that would be loose around my waist (after stepping inside of it and pulling on it to stretch it out) as well as covering up my upper arms and I always paired my tops with a fitted/stretchy maternity tank I wore underneath all my tops even a year after being pregnant because I thought it helped suck me in. 🤦‍♀️ I was VERY self-conscious and uncomfortable in all my clothes.. I had to keep pulling my jeans up because they kept falling under my gut. On the left, I was over 240lbs, a size 22/2XL and miserable. . I have been consistently following at-home fitness/nutrition programs since January 2016 which have given me REAL, long-lasting RESULTS! Ive lost as much as 112lbs and on the right, I am wearing size 3 jeans with a Small shirt!! I have learned how to live a healthy and active lifestyle that I LOVE and can sustain! Its much more fun to go shopping for clothes and I just straight up FEEL so much better in my own skin now!! Therefore, I want to pay it forward! Fly your right leg high and sweep your right knee to your right wrist, shin parallel to the front of your mat (this will all depend on flexibility, don’t force it) Extend your left leg back long and press the top of your foot down into the mat. Lengthen your spine by taking a deep breath in and exhale your air as your fold over your right leg. Extend your hands out in front you and let the weight of your body just fall into you mat. (If your right sit bone is coming up at all, stick a towel underneath to bring the mat up to you) Stay in the position for 20 breaths. To get out of the pose, bring your hands underneath your shoulders, press up and back into downdog and take a counterpose. Fire hydrant is really good to counter here. One day it clicked again...I had moved a few months ago and to say that I’ve been trying to find my rhythm would be exactly right. I think that keeping my food in check was the only reason I didn’t gain, but I wasn’t losing those couple of pounds I wanted to and I wasn’t building lean muscle consistently. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . Now, having gone through my 4th Whole30, I am ending it with the strongest conviction I’ve ever had that real food is medicine. It’s healing. It’s what fuels and drives your body to accomplish more. When I don’t stay focused on this lifestyle and find time to exercise, it shows in every aspect of my life - from how much I feel up to doing with the kids, to how much energy I have to be focused at work, to my mood overall. Food and exercise are no new recommendation for a healthy life. There is a reason it’s so strongly encouraged for a better you...because it works. 🙌🏼 . Ok yall. Real Talk!!⬇️⬇️ hang with me! . . People have always known me to be a pretty confident person. But really, I was struggling after I had my 3rd baby. [ Of course I love my littles more than life itself, I am blessed to be their mama ]. But lets be honest , it takes a toll on your body. & after 3 babies I was pretty sure that was my new normal..... . . I hardly have any full body pics of me from before I started this journey. Honestly I hated them. Even pictures with my kids and my husband, everything was a selfie or super close up. Or I just didnt get in the picture at all. I remember the picture on the left like it was yesterday. It was Dec 2016. My mom came to town and wanted pictures of me and my siblings . We took them but I never posted them. I felt awful about how I looked. At this point my youngest was almost a year old. I knew after seeing those pictures I had to do something to make myself feel good again. I wanted it so bad and I was willing to do whatever it took! . . Fast forward almost 2 years later & Down 70 pounds. Yall , if you would have told me 2 years ago this is where I would be...to be this passionate about something, I am not sure I wouldve believed it! I have taken 100% ownership in my progress. I know my results are up to me. This is why I choose to eat the way I do and workout at 4:30 a.m. everyday . It works for me. Its my routine! Will I hit bumps in the road , oh I am sure of it. But we will keep on pushing thru! You live & you Learn ! . . I just want others to know that anything is possible if you are willing to work for it. Really work for it. Will it be easy ..nope, some days are HARD. Will you still make mistakes , sure. I know I do!! But that is ok. We arent suppose to be perfect! Crazy how 5 years ago I moved to Dallas from the beaches in Malibu & Marina del Rey. 😭 I had recently divorced after 11 years of marriage... I was sad to leave California; a state that I loved... Mamas back is so much better, so we are celebrating by making cookies! 🍪 Of course we opted for healthy ones...none other than @lauraleabalanced Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies. These cookies are made with plenty of protein, fiber and healthy fats. I took this picture & instantly felt ridiculous for taking it. “What in the world? What are you trying to prove? Who are you trying to show that you love yourself?! Could you possibly try any harder??!” . I get so caught up in worrying what other think>> I have to Remind myself WHY I take pictures in the first place. I take pictures because I’m happy. I am living MY life, FOR me. I work hard, for my goals, every dang day. . During today’s podcast, the message hit me like a ton of bricks. When you get that phone call to tell you that YOUR DREAM has become your reality>> do you know what that dream is? So many of us GRIND, we use the hastags, we take hundreds of pictures to get the perfect angle, we post our lives on a daily. But can YOU tell me what that dream is for you? What are you working so hard for? What are going to be celebrating?! Is I going to be the job that your family thinks you should get? Is it the earned family vacation? Is it the loan you’ve been working on finally paid off? Maybe it’s the call that your husband gets to leave his job that he hates. Or maybe it’s the call YOU make telling your daycare you get to stay home with your daughter. What if it was the bank, telling you your debts are free and clear? . No one gets to decide what makes YOUR dreams yours, no one gets to tell you what you SHOULD be working towards. Because at the end of The day, if that dream that your working towards isn’t going to be the phone that changes your life, then girl, you’re doing it wrong. . Stop quieting your dreams in fear that it intimidates someone else. Quit hiding your light because others don’t like it bright. Stop deleting those silly in the moment pictures of Yourself. #Transformationtuesday .. .. .. there was a time that I was embarrassed going out because of my weight #true .. .. I gained 60 lbs during my pregnancy and I did not just bounce right back. I wanted to workout and diet but at the end of the day I was just exhausted. Although I’m not missing that muffin top at all, looking back, the embarrassment wasn’t so much about looks as much as it was me just having low self esteem from not taking care of myself at all, while I endlessly tried to “do it all”. .. .. Person on the right, I still try to take on more then I am probably capable of #MOMmentality BUT I make self-care a priority and #lovemyself on good days and bad. It’s not always convenient and there are days I skip workouts and eat donuts, but I have B A L A N C E and that is SO important! I am grateful for the opportunity that I have and work on myself a little bit each day, and stay consistent on a plan that fits into my life and it has made such a difference in my energy level, the way I physically feel and look, my happiness, my confidence, and has made me a better ✨mom✨wife ✨daughter ✨friend ✨person .. .. This is a great way to wake up the body and a common way to start any yoga practice - lengthen, lateral bend left and right, flexion forward, extension backward, and rotation! ****** Move down to the lower body, engaging hip flexors by driving the knee up, and priming the hip joint with rotation. You’re adding in some balance, so focus on keeping your core engaged! ****** Put it together with a lunge sequence to activate glutes, hamstrings, and the lower leg.
