Ive been feeling SO much this weekend and I’m trying to get my thoughts in a row. I feel unmotivated, uninspired, unaccomplished, and so on. I feel like, since May, since my diagnosis, I’ve made so many changes. I grocery shop, which I barely did before, I count calories, I eat so much healthier, I take diabetes medication three times a day, I gave up so many of the things I used to eat and drink, I workout all the time. And yet it doesn’t feel like it’s enough. I haven’t lost even a pound in months and now I feel like I’m not even doing this right. I need a fitness program, I need a nutritional plan...what I’m doing is not enough. ••• It’s incredibly discouraging. ••• I didn’t work out all weekend and I have overwhelming guilt about it. Like, I can’t focus on anything - like reading a book or working on my novel for #NaNoWriMo - because I’m so preoccupied by this guilt. ••• I don’t want to feel like this. I don’t want to compare myself to others and to feel like I’m making these changes out of guilt or obligation. I want to do it because I want to do it, because I want to be better and healthier, because I am committed to doing it. I went to the gym four times last week and I’m sick with guilt right now because I haven’t gone since Thursday. That’s just...it’s not okay. I’m not okay with it. ••• I want to get back to what it was about originally - getting healthier, bringing my body to a healthy weight, getting my blood sugar under control, making sure I’m doing the best thing for my diabetes. I want to be the girl who was motivated, not the girl who feels immense guilt if she’s not perfect in her eating and working out habits. Since today’s leg workout was too good🍑🔥 I wanted to share with you my top 5 tips to get the most out of every workout! . 1️⃣ Don’t skip a warm up (or cool down)🙅🏼‍♀️Even just 5 minutes of dynamic stretching and lightweight exercises helps a TON! 2️⃣ Stay hydrated💧when you’re sweating lots you need to be hydrating extra to make up for it! 3️⃣ Challenge your body🏋🏼‍♀️ you can’t lift the same weight, the same way every workout and expect different results. Switch up your exercises often, add weight and do different rep/set schemes! 4️⃣ Plan your workouts ahead of time📝 And/or hire a coach! Having visual accountability of what you need to complete during that workout removes the guess work so you don’t even have to think, just go in and do what you have on your plan! 5️⃣ Have FUN!!!🥳 make a new pump up playlist, get a cute gym outfit, go to your favourite gym in the city... enjoy the process of putting your health first! .
