Ending the week with sharing my fav workout of the week. It involves a lot of jump roping so you know it’s going to be good! 🤗 ⨯ Start by jumping for a 3 min warmup then do the first move 3 x before moving onto the next move BUT jump rope 1 min between the move. So you will do the first move, jump, do the move again, jump, do the move one last time, jump. Then rest 30 sec and go onto the next move. Want to look great naked?. What if I told you that working to get 10 clean, chest-to-the-floor push-ups or deadlift 1.5 times your body weight could help you that? 💪 Before I go any further I just want to put it out there that this post isn’t going to touch on nutrition at all, but in order to reach any aesthetic goal your nutrition has to be on point. With that said... 💪 Weight loss is hard. Building muscle is hard. It takes a lot of patience and quite frankly it’s easy to get wrapped up in what the scale says or how long it’s taking to make progress. This is where I feel performance goals can seriously help. Going in to the gym focused on getting just a few pounds closer to that body weight squat, or a rep closer to 5 chin-ups is unbelievably satisfying. It’s something concrete to see improve, which can keep you on track when you have an “ah-screw-it moment.” Consistency is key to progress and, interestingly, seeing progress helps with consistency! 💪 In addition, those toned arms and legs you’re after? Those firmer glutes and that 6 pack? Those capped shoulders and back that looks stunning in a tank top? That’s muscle, baby!!! Putting in the work to achieve these performance goals is gonna build that muscle🔥🔥🔥 💪 Last, but far from least in my book, is that working to achieve these kinds of goals builds so much confidence. You want to feel like a boss? Start busting out sets of push-ups and pull-ups! The confidence you build in the gym spreads to literally every area of your life. I’ve experienced it in my own life on a massive scale. I’ve seen it in my client’s lives (it’s actually one of the coolest parts of my job😀) There is just nothing else like it. Nothing! I usually don’t get too personal on here but as many of you know, my wrist gave out on Monday while on my last few attempts of #h2h ‘s. I squeezed visits to my pcp, x-ray, my sports medicine doctor, an MRI, and a hand specialist/surgeon all before today’s flight. — What would you do if you had to choose between - Option 1) a cast from above your elbow to hand 🖐 with your palm fixed facing up for 6 weeks. This would ruin your 18 day trip to Hawaii to acro/work remotely and a 16 day vacation to Austria to ski? (I’m not sure how anyone survives with a cast? I can’t even sleep with the splint and rip it off while I sleep) - Option 2) skip the cast and risk instability and the possibility of never returning to an activity you love. —- My diagnosis is dorsal dislocation of the ulnar head. Since I’m not “grossly unstable” I don’t need surgery however I still can’t flip my hand over or rotate it. After some tears and panic the surgeon👨‍⚕️comes back and gives me a 3rd option, a wrist brace that goes around the ulnar head. I’ll see him in 4 weeks and go from there. — I’m so thankful my sports medicine doctor 👩‍⚕️called several specialists to fit me in, the surgeon who made time and gave me a choice but I’m still so frustrated and upset that it happened and it was right before my trip. (Of course I was warned) My wrists and body had never felt stronger. 🤬🤕😡😪 ~~~ Thomas will get to deal with me and thanks to @adri_carioca for dealing with me at work this week (well always) and @_vatra for keeping me safe. My doctors all enjoyed having this injury on video🙏 ❤️

A recent article in the Chicago Tribune discussed how many people feel intimidated by strength training and all the seemingly complicated contraptions and training methods and therefore shy away from the activity. Ive heard about this feeling from many people, along with their concerns about not having enough time. Have you ever had similar feelings? Read on. The article discussed research done by a team of U.S and British strength training experts. The subjects in the study performed nine exercises, once a week, for ten weeks. The subjects were split into three groups who each performed concentric (muscle shortening) and eccentric (muscle lengthening) muscle contractions for different lengths of time. However, all three groups each exercised to “momentary failure”. They found that all three groups made significant strength gains, with no difference between the groups. The takeaway? Strength training can be relatively simple and you dont need to spend a ton of time doing it to get stronger. The key is to progressively overload the muscle to momentary failure, where you cannot perform any more repetitions. Just be sure to stay in control of the movement and breathe. Strength training is an integral part of our health and improving our overall function. Don’t be afraid to get started strengthening! Single-Arm Bicep Curl Machine (Finisher)⁣ ⁣ I like to do this workout towards the end of my workout. When my muscles are fatigued, I find my dominant arm compensating for the weaker arm in workouts that require both arms.⁣ -⁣ This workout also allows me to really isolate the bicep and get quality contractions as I keep the muscles under constant tension.⁣ -⁣ I like to keep the weight somewhere light to moderate so I can get a decent amount of reps. EZ Bar Barbell Curl⁣ (Standing) Made a mistake doing this exercise last for biceps. Barbell Step Ups (135lbs)⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ New addition to my leg workouts. I gotta say that although this targets a lot of quads I really felt it on my glutes as well. (My booty was burning)⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ My left leg was definitely exposed in this exercise. I was slightly slower stepping up on the left side and I will be working on evening both legs out.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ My focus for this workout is to increase my individual leg strength. Dumbbell Lateral Raises (Drop set). ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I did 4 sets of this workout and I did all drops sets to really hit my DELTOIDS. (30lbs to 15lbs)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I like to keep my chest out, pinch my scapula down, slightly bend my elbows, and initiate the movement with my elbows to really hit the delts.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ What I like doing for this workout is to start heavier and not focus on strict form initially. HOWEVER when I drop to the lighter weight that’s when I put an emphasis on form (not swinging) and keeping tension on the delts despite being fatigued.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Also, I can’t figure out why my left arm goes higher than my right. Standing Overhead Press (Military Press) 4 sets of 6-8 reps. ⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ My go to SHOULDER workout. Really hits your anterior deltoids and really engages your core. (I feel it on my triceps as well on the lockout)⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ As I said before, big movements lead to big gains and this is definitely one of those exercises.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ If you have not tried this before, I would recommend starting off with just the bar in order to get comfortable with the form. Bench Press Drop Set! (Been awhile since my last bench post)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was aiming for 4 sets of 5 reps (205lbs). On the last set however I was able to push myself and get 8 reps with 205 and 11 reps with 135.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ I like to utilize dropsets a lot on chest day on my last sets of my exercises.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ I find that it has been a great tool for me to further push my muscles when they are ALREADY fatigued. I believe this has been beneficial for me in terms of hypertrophy and muscle endurance.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ Felt pretty comfortable with this weight and I’m slowly creeping back up to heavier weight. A little frustrated I’m still weighing 132lbs but I can live with it as long as I continue to get stronger.⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ Back to lifting 225 next week! No cables? No problem!⁣ -⁣ Here’s a variation of flys using resistance bands.
