MAINTAINING VS GAINING . A bit of a rant on the way. . Loads of coaches (bad ones), fit pros and general fitness models are out there showing off lavish lifestyles that promote suboptimal fitness and muscle growth behaviours. . They are seen with limited gym time, lots of flexible eating and yet still looking insane or so it appears on social media. . A great person to see the authentic process of this is Jamie Alderton aka grenade Jay. . He is 100 up front with his lifestyle and physique consequences this comes with. . He will then do a mini cut of some variety to which he looks shredded in 6 weeks. . He explains how he was able to do this by having the foundations in the first place. . Hes grafted for 20 years to achieve his physique he is also genetically gifted which he admits too. . However, other influencers are not so transparent and live a life of leisure only to maintain an amazing physique year round. . Dont be fooled, these too have years of building foundations and grafting like a mofo but keep this secret as that doesnt sell! Theyre likely on the juice too 💉 . Do not follow your favourite fitness influencers lifestyle, training program or nutritional intake. . Understand the science behind building your own foundations and work your ass off for it! . Building muscle takes years. This is a long game so DO NOT expect results in a matter on months. Be consistent, be patient, maintain the right mindset, always have your goals aligned and YOU WILL achieve your dream physique. . Do you! . Not them. . Not the best pic but oh well… Booty gains!🍑 I’ve been working hard, focusing on my lower body a little more, going a little heavy but mostly more reps. (It’s scary sometimes for me to go heavy since I damaged my back and it really hurts so I go as heavy as I can without damaging more my back) I’ve been eating more vegetables and cutting carbs at night as much as possible (it wasn’t as hard as I thought it’d be so AND I’m actually enjoying veggies veggies 🥦🥬🥕and you know I used to HATE them so YAY!) I do have carbs for breakfast and lunch, the good kind thou and I do allow myself to indulge because depriving yourself isn’t a realistic lifestyle, it’s all about BALANCE!🙏🏼 I feel stronger everyday 💪🏽✨

Winter break leaves me with plenty of alone time, as I go to visit my dad and he works during the day. This usually results in needless anxiety and overthinking, but this year is quite the opposite. My moments of silence I’ve been using for gratitude for all the wonderful people in my life and the opportunity to grow and change as I please. The power of your mindset should never be underestimated. You create your reality, you’re more in charge than you think. Happy Tuesday everyone!! 🥰 ⁣ Today was my first day back in the gym in about a week and it was GREAT. Last week I was super sick and couldn’t even leave the house let alone workout, (and finals 🤦‍♀️) but it made me realize something. I feel that it is normal for those of us who regularly go to the gym to become nervous that some time off will affect your gains or ruin your progress, when in turn sometimes it is needed. I went into the gym today and had the best leg day I have had in a while. I felt motivation that had been gone for the past couple weeks and actually hit two new pr’s.🙌 Sometimes a rest is needed, and no I didn’t lose my progress or gain weight back. I felt better than I have in a long time and noticed that my body needed the rest. It is important to keep in mind that balance is key 🔑 with your fitness journey and that listening to your body is important! ⁣ ⁣ I hope everyone has a wonderful week & for the other students out there, killed their exams!! ❤️

When training, we must be thinking about how to develop the muscle in its entirety, not simply going through the motions. Different angles and placements naturally work the muscles differently. . . . Reverse Single arm rope hammer curl. . . . When the upper part of your arm (elbow and up) stays behind your torso, youre going to better target your outer bicep. Using a hammer grip (how your hand would be if you were holding a hammer) is also known to better target the outer bicep. This combo = yas! . . . #EndGymConfusion
