Where the goblins at? This is the most unique park that I have been (havent seen Monument Valley yet). These mushroom shaped stones are made of entrada stones. There is a whole valley of them. Fun to play in natures playground.

One of the best nights camping ever. Hitting the road with @bigcrit77 to a location we knew little about and ended up meeting @parker_burkett @outofthewoods @jesseroos @protik_photography and many others. Our first night was a mixed bag with clouds rolling in and out. However on night two, we had nothing but clear skies. Unfortunately the wind stuck around so reflections weren’t that good. This is my second time trying star trails, and first with this new camera. Trying to squeeze in as much as I can before summers over. But my favorite season is right around the corner!! 🍁 ****************************************************** #pnw #cascadiaexplored #washington #travelwest #washingtonexplored #pnwshooters #adventurevisuals #travelphotography #roamtheplanet #photographer #ourplanetdaily #sunset_madness #instadaily #goatworthy #hanksville #optoutside #northwestcreatives #depthsofearth #hot_shotz #neverstopexploring #adventurevisuals #travelmore #rsa_night

Hi. 👋🙋🏻‍♀️ Taken from the top of “The Tanks” (on top of the ginormous rock walls in the gorge) while hiking through Capitol Gorge in Capitol Reef National Park. I had to slap a filter on this picture because the sun was so incredibly harsh (and HOT) that it washed away both my face and the magnificent colors of the prehistoric rocks behind me. I tried to then soften the filter a bit...but this is about as close as I can get to what this area truly appeared to be to my eyes 👀. The hike through the gorge is not difficult in terms of the land. It is insanely hot however inside those rock walls, and you will be trudging through an evaporated river bed most of the time...so that means lots of red sand (IN YOUR SOCKS) and unstable rocks. If you want to get on TOP of the gorge walls at The Tanks, you’re gonna have to scramble up the rocks, my friends! The good thing is that Mother Nature created a lot of natural rock steps for you to get up. However many of those rocks are smooth and could be very slippery for someone who does not have the correct footwear. I would say this rock scrambling was easier than it was inside Arches when we hiked the Devil’s Garden Trail, but only because the rock steps were there to help you most of the way. But keep in mind you ARE going almost straight up the entire way. So if your knees are bad or you don’t have great glute muscles to push you up, be prepared to be a little sore the next day. Although I’ve grumbled (all of my life) about how much muscle and fat my legs tend to hold and how they are nearly impossible to shape without looking way too skinny elsewhere, I thank these thick ol’ thighs for their ability to power me up mountains, mesas, and over difficult rocks.

One of the most breathtaking mornings I’ve ever had... waking up, rolling over and seeing the sun rise delicately from behind a slight haze of smoke.... I grabbed my gear and headed out. Working my way down the wall, the spot I’ve been wanting to see was in front of me.... I made my way down, set up my gear in a very precarious location and decided to wait for that perfect light. The haze calmed down and I was ready. Patience has never been a virtue of mine, but it’s certainly getting better with each trip. . . . . ***************************************************** www.parker-burkett.com ***************************************************** #canonusa #hot_shotz #theoutbound #neverstopexploring #thegreatoutdoors #jetsetter #igrefined #rei #canon5dsr #adventurevisuals #travelphotography #roamtheplanet #photographer #ourplanetdaily #sunrise_madness #instadaily #goatworthy #hanksville #optoutside #northwestcreatives #utah #headed_elsewhere #america #jaw_dropping_shots #travel #gitzoinspires #adventurenthusiasts #rei1440project #roadtrip #weareutah

Incredible rock formations off the side of lonely Hwy 24, just outside Hanksville, Utah. It is one of the most scenic trips we’ve ever taken through Utah. Unbelievable desert beauty! Massive mesas, mountains, ancient rock formations, petrified everything...this is what you’ll see drive down through south-central Utah on the way to Capitol Reef National Park (or Lake Powell). It was about a two-hour drive from Moab if you are not poking around too much along the way. Pack lots of water and food. Not much in the way of amenities along the way. (There ARE fruit orchards inside Capitol Reef if you get there before 5pm! Plus a little place that sells fresh fruit pies and ice cream! But again, everything closes early.) Hanksville has a few things, but nothing appeared to be open late on our way back from the park. Park photos coming later. I still have loads from Arches, too. 😊 And I am still queasy this morning from heat exhaustion/illness. Despite loading up on sublingual salt, electrolytes, sports drinks, water, proper snacks...the desert sun still kicked my ass. This isn’t beach heat at sea level. High desert (and plains) heat is the devil. It took all I had not to throw up my insides last night. Still a great weekend, worth the sickness. I climbed massive gorge walls, giant dinosaur-era rocks, ran my fingers over petroglyphs and petrified EVERYTHING, and explored one of the most desolate and last-mapped parts of the US. The nausea and skull-splitting headaches were worth every second. 😅

#hanksville #movielikescene

———————————————————— My first trip to the moon. 🌙 ————————————————————

When I was little, someone told me an easy way to remember to spell the word, “dessert” was to spell with two s’s because you would want more dessert than you would want a desert, so “desert” only has one s. Now after seeing so much beauty in such a hot and vast landscape, I can only think that I want more of both, and that eating dessert in the desert would be the biggest win of all. 😜🌵🍦🐫🏜 . . #utah #beautahful #utahisrad #utahgram #moab #goblins #hoodoos #sanrafaeldesert #goblinvalley #greenriver #hanksville #sandstone #erosion #entrada #jurassic #mushroomcaprocks #desert #lifeelevated #utahoutdoors #outdoorwomen #hikelikeagirl #hikeutah #wildernessculture #bpmag #livebravely #parksproject #adventureisoutthere #optoutside #exploremore
