Getting that first strict HSPU! __________________________ Video 1 - Building vertical pressing absolute strength. This can be done through a number of exercises but for me, I progressed through 3 weeks of feet on box A-frame push ups! It helps you get used to that inverted position, whilst stacking your shoulders and wrists with correct form and range. Stick to a challenging eccentric tempo and correct positioning! - can build to deficits too. Video 2 - Get comfortable in the full Handstand/ wall walk (nose to wall). We want to focus on bracing the midline, stacking your hips and shoulders over your wrists, and ‘gripping’ onto the floor with your fingers for balance and stability. Video 3 - Ready to kick up to a ‘back to wall’ handstand. Either place your hands on the floor (to really ‘nail’ in your placement), or walk into the kick up. Same as vid.2, practice ‘stacking’ your shoulders, elbows and wrists. Video 4 - Introducing the ‘eccentric’ HSPU. Keep the reps short and build through the sets here, with 90-120sec rest in between. Set yourself a tough, realistic tempo and stick to it! E.g. 5sets 3-4reos @ 5 sec eccentric. We can progress on this by adding a deficit to build that extra strength in a bigger range of motion!
