Give this one a try 👆 • I am a firm believer that if you want a truly body that looks fit and functional you must incorporate functional methods into your training. • What do I mean by this? If you spend all your time doing strict isolation movements or standard resistance exercises in the gym you may build an appreciable physique but it will not carry a athletic functional look to it, but worse yet it will actually not function to it’s max ability and will likely be prone to injury. • I’m not saying you need to juggle kettle bells while standing on a Swiss ball but try and incorporate some dynamic, multi directional movements into your training some of the time, the body is capable of an incredibly wide range of movements and I suggest you explore them. • Do you incorporate circuits into your training? This morning at PCent was a blast! Lots of Agility with some plyo and body weight strength moves, plus buddy work! 🙌🏽

Ok so here is my entire routine in video form. 🔹 1) Low Bar Squats: 3x5 - my 4-5th reps could be better, but that is why I video, to learn. 🔹 2) Narrow Bench Press: 3x8 - treat your grip like a push-up, elbows out to the side, not tight to body as in Tricep Pressing. This grip protects rotator cuff and you get better chest pump as you are not shortening the angle by going wide. I am carrying rotator cuff injury on my left side, so slightly compensating in my right as you can see with bar movement.🔹 3) Cable Rows: 3x12, one of my favourite exercises, can really engage the mid-traps and minimise momentum in this position. 🔹 4) DB Military Press: 3x10 with Lat Raises: 3x10 - love a shoulder combo and the little twist at bottom of range is again protection for rotator cuff. On your Lat. Raises demonstrate control, swinging of forcing the reps involves more upper traps and neglects the lateral deltoid.🔹 5) Tricep Push-Up: 3x12 on Powerplate, really focus on armpit to hip straight line and hands underneath your sternum to concentrate on chest development and alleviate stress on shoulders. 🔹 6) sprints: 15mins of HIIT up to 20kph (video is 20kph). Today I did 30mins as I forgot my HIIT yesterday. Thursday’s bootcamp was 16 exercises- either body weight or with dumbbells. I had them all written out on pieces of paper to draw out a random order for each round. So that meant every round was different! After each round, I would just mix all the exercises up and then pick again, laying them out so I could yell what was coming next. I also had 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 written out on pieces of paper to draw randomly the length of time in seconds for the work period for each new round. I would draw an amount of time and then I would set it to the side so once we did that entire round with that length of time, we wouldn’t repeat it. This was such a fun style of workout because not even I knew how each round would turn out! Sometimes we had a lot of cardio in a row or a lot of lower body or a lot of upper body!! And sometimes we had a 20 seconds for an easy lineup and a full minute for a hard lineup. Happy Saturday 😀 It’s rainy and damp and generally a bit yucky here but it’s not cold and the wind has died down so pretty good running conditions really! Not been able to do any speed training for 4 weeks due to the dodgy hamstring but this morning I felt it was ready to try again. I did 6x3 min intervals at TH off 90 seconds jog recoveries, missed my pace for rep 5 though by a long way,don’t know what happened there🙄😫 Hopefully back at the track this week so can start working on it again!! My daughter joined me straight after for a 5k and then we did a short CrossFit session for time consisting of 20KB deadlifts then 10 burpees then 18 KB deadlifts and 9 burpees all the way back down so you finish on 2KB deadlifts and 1 burpee! I think I was just over 10 mins it doesn’t sound much but omg it’s hard work! Tomorrow I am aiming for 8-10 gentle miles, weather is not looking good though it’s gonna be a wet run 💧💦
