Enjoyed my last run in Ohio this morning... got in 20 miles total while I was here. I really enjoyed a break from the heat because it is most certainly still summer in Georgia. . Adding in a little speed which makes me feel like death during but great after. 5 miles total with 2 x 10 min at 8 min/mi. Pace wasn’t perfect on the second set today but I ran through town so I’m ok with it. #tuesday. So about that race on Sunday morning....set a brand New PR! Wooooo! Official time 2:21, 10:46/mile! Take that injured knees and pouring rain!! 💪😀 * * This was the inaugural Appletree Half Marathon in Vancouver, Washington and it was a very nice and flat course! The knees held off on hurting until it started pouring rain at mile 7 to mile 9 and then really hurt miles 11 to 13. But I wasnt going to let that stop me and pushed my way to the finish. Yeah! * * Im proud of myself to get a new PR while injured. The next half is in 3 weeks where hopefully my knees are healed up completely and I can try for another PR! If only you could have experienced the sensation of the slightly torn patch of skin, ripped from her body after fusing to her shirt, slowly and surely become saturated. The humidity was thick and the perspiration, stagnant. Alongside the pumping repetition of the arms, which she could hear her coachs voice echo, One, two, one, two, one, two, the thin layer of derma stood no chance. It slid like a pendulum until finally, stay it no longer could. Now, as blood and sweat commingled, the injury burned as a burn is expected to burn. Sometimes you just have to put your blinders on and focus on your own journey! Because that is what it is- YOUR JOURNEY. It isn’t mine, it isn’t your siblings, your husbands, your wives, your friends, or anyone else’s. It is YOURS. • I tell my challengers all the time to focus on their progress and don’t play the comparison game. Everyone is different- has different goals- challenges- and strengths. The only one you should ever be competing with is the person you were the day before. Are YOU stronger? Are YOU happier? Are YOU more confident? • Focus on your daily steps forward and put your blinders on to everything else. • For me working out while preggo {even at 39 weeks} feels good! It’s my energy boost and how I get through the day keeping up with my 2 kids. 🏃‍♀️ This might have been my favorite workout Ive done since working with @amandaspinler. I have always loved speedwork because it is fun and goes by fast. These cruise intervals challenged me and were good for my self-confidence which Ive been needing. > Speedwork = 🍅 face > I am trying to get educated on what to eat when in regards to performance and recovery because Im an old lady and I need to take better care of myself. I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF THIS PHOTO because of what it captures: the raw reality of marathon running & the story one photo can tell. ✨ I have a lot of great race photos from my marathon, but this one captures the GRIT behind running 26.2 miles in 3:48. ✨ You train for 4 months ... & then you wake up on race day at 3AM ... pacing — rain or shine that gun goes off and you take off. ✨ The first couple of miles hurt and feel good ... adrenaline + warming up. ✨ The next couple of miles solid. You then begin to chafe, ache and mentally shut down UNLESS you overcome those demons ... you push & pray you don’t have to poop. Trust me, this crosses your mind a lot. ✨Miles 20-26.... it’s like running in your dreams. ✨You feel almost nothing ... you push and pump and even yell out loud ... you hear the announcer from a distance as people are crossing the finish & you run harder or so it seems & then you cross the glorious finish line — RELIEF, I can finally stop — the taste of sweat .. crowds cheering .. you take it all in... ✨ This photo captures my cellulite covered legs, my not always toned arms, no posing, a smile of relief and joy... it captures my love for running. It captures the runners body. It captures happiness.... it’s what makes me & it’s the world of running. I guess after a really good week of training last week I was due for a run that would rock my world. I could not for the life of me find my rhythm this morning. Cut 6 miles down to 4 and walked way more than necessary. I just couldn’t find myself. Decided to call it around mile 3 and run the last one home to get to 4. Thoughtful coffee and welcoming people are what I’m all about. All too often I’ve walked into a shop and have felt intimidated by it, and I know it’s not just me (hi, raise your hand if you feel me 👋🏻), whether it be unfriendly people working behind bar or how unwelcoming the other patrons seem to be. I found the complete opposite of that, and had one of the best coffee experiences I have probably ever had at @communalcoffee while in San Diego. The baristas were ridiculously friendly, the coffee was phenomenal, and all the pups on the patio wanted love. The staff chatted with me about the pros and cons of coffee trailers, and kindly answered all of my obnoxious questions surrounding them. All while making a killer cortado. . . . . Now I just want more. I want less DC hustle and hurry, and more slow, intentional chats. The bar has been set pretty high from here on out.

PACING, Lets talk about it because I suck at it, usually go out to fast and I am dying at the end. This training cycle I have to pay attention, recognize where I am at so I can properly execute my training runs. Todays workout was 6 progressive miles (3 easy pace, 3 faster negative split) , I nailed this run, it wasnt easy, I had to fight for that last mile, I was drowning in sweat but damn it was worth it! On a side note I know I havent been posting my strength workouts but I am doing them, unfortunately #momlife gets in the way and I forget to post but I have to give @coachrunnerfitmom a shout out because I wouldnt have great runs without her help! tempo tuesday ✔️💕. . last tuesday morning, i rode the struggle bus attempting my tempo run, i just didn’t have it. this morning, my body woke me up at 4:25, & refused to let me go back to sleep. i gave up a little before 6 & headed to the gym earlier than planned. this tuesday morning, i had it 😎. . no crazy splits or fast miles for me, just a nice gradual tempo run. i’m still nursing my ever present blisters, so i made sure not to push it too hard. it felt good, & i definitely put in the work though, because i was soaked at the end. a sure sign of a great workout ☺️. . 5 tempo tuesday miles in 47:38 || 10:00 | 9:47 | 9:36 | 9:17 | 8:58 || pace 9:32 🙌🏼😜✨ #sammrunsnyc

Morning run done so now coffee in hand! ☕️ I’ve been using the @nikerunning app guided runs lately and absolutely LOVING them! This morning I followed a 40 minute @headspace guided run and then kept going once it was over to reach my goal of 4.5 miles for the day. Came back sweaty and now ready for my day!

Took my warm up mile seriously and started slow and easy trying to make sure my calves got a good warm-up. Although they werent 100%, my legs felt better than they have lately and I did my whole workout! I trained for it. 🚴🕶✨ @leeana_j Just smashing it through the Italian countryside on day 4 of @radrace Tour de Friends Over the 4 days there were some fast bits, some slow bits, there was easy bits and hard bits... but luckily there was never a point where I wanted to give up... I trained for it.. and just got the job done.. still stoked that we smashed it on day 4, averaging over 30km hr for 140km with heap of crazy headwind.. even after the 195km through the Dolomites on day 3.. fuck yeah 💪🏼... 📷 @derekrebel_

Strength is built in the dark. Make no mistake that what you do in the darkness when nobody is watching matters, builds character, and ultimately decides the person you going to become. Some of the strongest people I know build strength in the darkness, whether it’s getting up before dawn and pounding the pavement or putting in a sweat fest at the gym, or having the restraint to not click on that website, video or image, or how about actively switching your thoughts when lying in bed at night when the world is sleeping. Good morning & Happy #TransformationTuesday ! On Sunday I put my 34th half marathon in the books! 🏃‍♀️💪 It wasnt my fastest (it was hot/humid & I rolled my ankle wrong late in the race) but I pushed through in the end & refused to give up! Today, Im taking a look back to the day it all began; the day I stepped way out of my comfort zone & conquered my fear! The day I ran my first race; a half marathon! I finished in 2:25. I still remember that post race #runnershigh & how proud I was of myself! Here I am 118 races; 14 marathons, 5 #BQ s 💛💙 , 34 half marathons (PR - 1:38) and many other distances later feeling so thankful that I made that decision to try! Running has changed my life in so many ways & has helped me through some of the toughest of days! It has shaped me into the strong woman I am today! Dont be afraid to step out of your comfort zone & try something new - it could change your life! I know running changed mine!
