So I have had people comment recently on the fact that I wear a knee brace, well the truth is between roller derby, scoliosis, running and life I have put a little too many miles on my poor knee. But telling someone who just finished a 13 mile run, see that is why I dont workout. Is like telling someone who just got into a car accident see, that is why I dont drive cars. #mondaymotivation 💪 * * After having 2 kids, I became really self conscious about my body. My tummy especially. So I decided that eating healthy, hiking & staying positive were going to be what helped me get my pre baby bod back. It was surprisingly easy for me, but...my skin was still stretched in some areas & not the same in others (I had a c section so I have a scar). Then one day it hit me. That scar is proof that I accomplished something that some women are too selfish to give thier body up for. I created, carried & gave birth to a life. Twice! My scar is beautiful & [email protected]$$ and my body...is still beautiful. & to the mom that is self conscious about her body....yours is beautiful too. You know what else helped me lose the weight? Coffee. Copious amounts of home made coffee. & youll never see me without a mug...especially on #mondays

❗️2018 NPC NATIONALS MIAMI❗️ (Read!) ———————————💎. 💎. 💎. ——————————- 👉🏾Not even in my wildest dreams did I think I’ll ever be on the NPC stage competing at Nationals. 👉🏾After last years Natural Olympia I told coach, I know I can compete against the best NPC amateurs as I’d like to take on that challenge. So I won my class at the badger state in Wisconsin and qualified. 👉🏾And this past weekend I competed and took 4th at my first National show. Truthfully I was shocked when my name was called for 1st callouts because there was a lot of huge and muscular guys. I’m sure there’s a video somewhere of me double checking my number when I heard it called😳😆🤷🏾‍♂️. Now I knew I’d be smaller than most guys coming in, but I also knew I had great symmetry and posing. And quite frankly, size didn’t seem to play a huge factor in judging like I thought it would. 👉🏾👉🏾Everyone including the winner of my class were competing for the 3rd, 4th or 5th time at Nationals. So while I didn’t place 1st or 2nd like I came to do, trust me I’m proud of my 4th place accomplishment. 👉🏾I only know of 1 person that’s competed at nationals and won their pro card at their first try. It’s not easy and they don’t just hand them out. You gotta earn it. 👉🏾Honestly none of this would be possible without the best support system in the world: My girlfriend Jamie, my coach @timjohnsonifbbpro , my bros Brian and Ahmed , thank you so much. Also my Sister, May, Andrea, Mr & Mrs Giwa thank you! 👉🏾Also a huge thank you to my IG family! Lunging into Thanksgiving week! . . . Here are some lunge variations demonstrated by @torifroemke . The first is a lunge into a high plank. Starting in a lunge position with your back knee up off the carriage, push up off the floor with the forward leg, swinging it back into a high plank. For less of a challenge, rest both feet on the carriage momentarily while you plank to help find your balance. . The second variation involves even more of a core challenge. Stretching should be incorporated into every exercise program. Stretching can be considered a form of exercise where a specific muscle or tendon is purposefully flexed or stretched to improve the muscle’s felt elasticity and result in a comfortable muscle tone. . Static stretches were emphasized years ago amongst gymnast, track and field participants, and skaters. In these particular sports, one requires a great deal of flexibility to perform the tasks of the sport. In sports such as hockey (goalies excluded), rugby and football, this extreme flexibility is not necessary. Every sport has a certain set of skills that require flexibility. Exceeding this flexibility is no guarantee of injury prevention; however, if one doesn’t have the adequate flexibility necessary to perform the sport, they are more prone to injury. . Static Stretching is to be used after your workout or activity to cool your muscles down. Never before your exercise bc it can hamper performance, strength and speed. You want to do dynamic stretching as that can help warm up your muscles essentially you want to mimic the muscles that will be worked! . Day 3 of #GroundingAndGratitude is to show gratitude for my yoga practice. This one is big. Yoga changed my life. I took my first class at 15. At 17 I taught (untrained) at a local legion for tips lol. I lost my practice after that for a few years. Then at 25 I decided I needed a change, and got back into yoga and signed up for my teacher training. I had gained a bunch of weight, stopped putting time into myself, and knew I needed this. It was the best thing. A lot changed in my life after that. Just my self and body awareness. My health, my diet, my mood and energy. Even my acceptance for what I can and cannot change. I’m very grateful for my yoga practice. And also for where I live.
