Spinal segmentation sped up 1.5. . Can you control your spine 1 vertebrae at a time? Try and see! If you find an area that moves as a ‘chunk’ spend some time there and dial it in. . Your foot has 26 bones! That inherently means it’s supposed to have a lot of mobility. We treat orthotics the same way we treat a knee brace...specific use at a specific time. The muscles in your feet are likely not as efficient as they could be with the type of footwear that is common...that needs to change! See if you can even simply spread they toes out, or lift just your big toe? If you can’t, ask us what you can do! When I was in school I didn’t know what to eat, or how to train... ended up putting on a bit of weight, grew a pair of boy tits and got very insecure about it! - This lead to me dropping my shoulders forward so my pointy nipples wouldn’t show through my tops, meaning I developed my rounded shoulders. - Fast forward to finishing Uni (doing the same throughout) even a few years on, I eventually started learning how the body should work, how it’s actually designed to move... So the past few years I’ve spent trying to undo the 10-15 years of bad habits I put my body through. - After doing ok with it all and making progress, I met this fine young gentleman @primalmobility who has a vast knowledge in movement, the physiology of the body and even more so the #Kinstrech and #FRC patterns. - You can see me struggle quite a bit in this video and it’s so much harder than it looks, but I’m getting there and this was a big step for me (as I couldn’t do anything like this because of my poor posture). Slowly but surely I will regain full access to my body’s capabilities and beyond that! - The body is an amazing piece of kit and designed to be challenged daily. The Next 3 days are all about HIPS. Your hip is one of your 4 major centres of rotation. However, clinically I see hip rotation disappearing. If you loose rotation at your hip you are going to steal it from neighbouring joints = back or knee. Ouch! Have a little respect for this beautiful awesome ball&socket joint and keep it moving. . Tips: 🔶First off, if you can’t get into the 90 90 base position talk to your healthcare provider. This is basic hip mobility. If you look like a pretzel, your knee hurts or your leg is cramping it means YOUR HIP IS TALKING TO YOU. You should LISTEN. If you don’t take time to listen now you will be taking time for an injury later. . If this position is not accessible you have options: ➡️ Block under the lead leg knee ➡️ Block under the lead like hip ➡️ post your arm out to the side ➡️ Close your knees into Shin Box . 🔶force is the language of cells but it still takes 2 minutes to communicate with the nucleus of the fibroblast to really induce biological change. Passive stretching yields passive results so add some internal load = PAILs or lift offs ( more options discussed in The Mobility Challenge). . Let’s make sure you feel it in the right place, otherwise it’s worthless. . ✅ How it’s done 🔹Start by setting up in the 90/90 position as explained in the video. 🔹Think ‘tall spine’ first. 🔹Now, imagine trying to hover your belly button over your front shin while reaching the shoulders forward. 🔹These cues should help you to achieve a slight ANTERIOR TILT OF YOUR PELVIS. 🔹To understand what that means, think of your pelvis as a bucket...you’re trying to spill water out the front of it. 🔹Doing this will elicit a deep stretch of the glueal tissues and hip capsule. 🔹Hold the stretch for 90 seconds - 2 minutes. This is the minimum time under tension for a stretch to be effective 👌 . ⚠️ Do not fold the upper body by rounding the back. This does absolutely nothing for the hip. Working on some 175lb box squats with my triathlete this morning 🏃‍♀️ Im so proud of her its crazy 💖 . . We work on box squats to target her 2nd drive phase which is the range of motion she uses for running. We dont always go this high but when we are looking for power and acceleration specific training, we sometimes stay within the range she uses during a race. . . She can go ass to grass with her squats - it just depends on the GOAL of our workout. We paired this with a 1st drive phase exercise to train her full ROM so we are not causing any issues with her function - and we dont overtraining this or ANY position. Variability is the key to injury prevention/mitigation! . . By definition Rehabilitation means: Bringing someone back to the level of function they were before. You get injured, you go to physical therapy, get rehabilitation,treat whats wrong, get back to the level you were before then and go back into training. Pancake progress!! . Wrapping up the last week of @coachzachdeck #remotekinstretchmembership and I have to say this is some damn good progress on my pancake! My forearms never made it to the floor before and while its not full split its def the the widest my straddle has been. . The progress isnt just in my pancake Ive had big improvements in all my mobility. And my joints are feeling much better! . I even doubled up this go round and did both the regular and advanced memberships and it was well worth it! . Also wanted to give Zack a big shout out for all the knowledge he drops during class. No way would I have been able to teach my first workshop and kinstretch class this past week had it not been for taking all his classes. PAILS/RAILS for shoulder external rotation. . . Don’t neglect shoulder mobility for pre-gab, rehab or in general. It is a must, especially among combat athletes, punching, throwing elbows, grappling, all are heavy tasks for your shoulders so if you’re a fighter or BJJ player in any regard make sure you take care of your joints. Obviously that goes for all weightlifters, gym goers and people in general. And that goes for all of your joints, their health is Important, and down the line you’ll regret not taking care of them. . . 2 minute passive stretch, face down, don’t look at the kettlebell, then PAILS ramping up full body tension as you push ⬇️ into the KB, ramping to 100% tension over 10 seconds then holding at 100% for another 10. . . Nothing worse than your strength taking a hit because your joints said “not today” This drill here has really helped to open up the tightness in the forearms and to help gain some more strength at that end range where the pain usually shows up! . Keys to remember: 1. Keep elbows, shoulders and wrist in a straight line. Don’t let shoulders and elbows flare 2. Take the stretch to YOUR limit 3. Build the right amount of tension for you! You want your forearms to burn for the whole 10 count each way! 🔥 . Give it a shot especially if you crossfit or do a lot of pressing motions! 💪🏼

Since then, she’s registered for the FRC course here in Tampa/Largo next month, and has been pouring over the online lectures trying to truly understand how to fix her own body. ⠀ She’s also a full-time ICU nurse and part time yoga teacher. I haven’t talked about it much on social media but this last trip to India was definitely the best one but at the same time, the most challenging one. I had rotator cuff strain that I rehabilitated for 8 weeks after coming back and have been feeling the strongest I’ve been since. The practice in India can be like a fantasy, the adrenaline, the temperature and motivation inspires us to work hard but at the same time—there needs to be a level of intelligence when approaching the practice. Over the years, I’ve worked with incredible therapists and teachers who’ve helped me to be able to assess and rehabilitate myself and I will definitely give them a shout in my next few posts. Starting with @deegekd for being an exceptional sports chiropractor that I’ve been working with for over 5 years now. I’m sure I would be a little bit of a mess without him! Thank you Kevin.

🔥Improve your Overhead Mobility🔥 - - ⛄️If you’ve been yanking on bands, smashing every muscle in your shoulder or stretching your lats religiously thinking you’re improving your shoulder mobility, you’ve been approaching mobility all wrong. . ⛄️Why? Because Mobility (active range of motion) is the product of both flexibility and end range strength (control). . 🎥 Here’s a couple ways I like to mobilize the shoulders and thoracic spine as well as learn how to control those end ranges and build more strength. Trust me, these are way harder than they look and you might not be ready for some of these, so try them out and see which exercises you can do without compensating and then gradually add in more of these as you progress. - - 👌🏼I’m a big fan of doing mobility before stability, so make sure you use a few of these to open up those shoulders and spine before your next workout!💪🏼 ______ Comment. I’ve had some issues going on with my knee for some time and have been mostly training hip IR for it, which is great but it’s not hitting everything that needs to be targeted. I notice when I don’t take my carnitine supplement but knee feels shittier, so I’m bring more structured focus to training my knee and the joints nearby who either give good or shitty information to my knee. I’d say both, due to their limitations, do the latter.⁣ ⁣ Today I started a 3 week program training hips, knees, and ankles. The goal is to increase ankle dorsiflexion and to close the gap between my passive and active hip and knee flexion. I’ve always been very quad dominant and have had next to NO hamstring strength, despite my 300lb deadlift. I had no idea how to use my hamstrings. ⁣ ⁣ I’m sick of my lack of dorsiflexion limiting my ability to feel good doing anything that requires it. I think most in the #FRC community would agree it’s one of the most stubborn joints to effect change. I’m not going to let that intimidate me and am under no guise that any of this will happen in just 3 weeks. ⁣ ⁣ This first 3 weeks is the pre-trial and is a short enough period that won’t overwhelm me so I can stay focused and committed. I will make adjustments to the program and go again in 3 week increments. I WANT MORE DORSIFLEXION. I want to be able to squat, worry free. So here’s where I’m at right now. Have a lot of work to do but I’ll post updates as I go along.

Seated Spine Controlled Articular Rotations Traditional spine CARs are primarily executed using the thoracic spine as the main driver of motion. With this seated modification, you can place more emphasis on the lumbar spine and improve lumbar segmentation. Notice my lumbar spine going through flexion and extension but through changing angles of thoracic rotation. This is also a great variation for patients or clients who sit all day and need to find an easy way to plug in spinal mobility. The 90/90 hip stretch is arguably the best bang for the buck stretch for the hips. . Let’s make sure you feel it in the right place, otherwise it’s worthless. . ✅ How it’s done 🔹Start by setting up in the 90/90 position as explained in the video. 🔹Think ‘tall spine’ first. 🔹Now, imagine trying to hover your belly button over your front shin while reaching the shoulders forward. 🔹These cues should help you to achieve a slight ANTERIOR TILT OF YOUR PELVIS. 🔹To understand what that means, think of your pelvis as a bucket...you’re trying to spill water out the front of it. 🔹Doing this will elicit a deep stretch of the glueal tissues and hip capsule. 🔹Hold the stretch for 90 seconds - 2 minutes. This is the minimum time under tension for a stretch to be effective 👌 . ⚠️ Do not fold the upper body by rounding the back. This does absolutely nothing for the hip.
