You can read Monas story which she shared on our site at Fight for the fatherless.org. ———————————————————— So when it comes to Mona’s Fact file, we have to admit that finding out that her weakness was being a little impatient was a big surprise. It was a surprise in that if you know Mona’s story, you’ll realise It must have taken everything in terms of applying her strengths to overcome her weaknesses to achieve everything that she has in her career. ———————————————————— At Monas first Commonwealth games at just 17 years of age she had expected or at least planned and hoped to win a medal but things didn’t quite pan out that way. Not to be deterred, she trained hard and planned to do so at her second attempt four years later, again that didn’t happen. So onto her 3rd attempt just four years after that where again she failed to medal. Finally on her 4th attempt she managed to fulfil a long term ambition placing 3rd and winning the bronze medal. ———————————————————— Now If that’s not one of the greatest examples of perseverance, persistence and patience in the history of Olympic Weight lifting then we don’t know what is. It just goes to show that, yes we all have weaknesses but the key for you guys like Mona is to aim to overcome them knowing that without doubt that you have God given strengths that allow you to do so. ———————————————————— Gods plans for you to have a successful life by no means include a promise for you to have an easy life but if you choose to believe that he is always with you it’s a promise that with him Nothing is ever impossible. Friday workout! . Crazy day so I got to the gym with maybe 50 min to work with and got ‘er done in 35. I was a mom on a mission! Had to pick up my son’s bday balloons 🎈 on the way home! . I kept everything to 2 sets, just tried increasing weight where I could. All adjustable pulldowns were in use so I had to do regular grip instead of parallel grip. Went too heavy on incline db press, so I’ll def have to stick to that weight next week. Didn’t feel like sticking around for calves - there were balloons to pick up and Friday traffic to fight! . If any of these sound like you then you’ll likely benefit from improving your hip rotation 🤸‍♀️ mobility! __ 📌 Hip rotation refers to our ability to turn the hip ⬅️ in (internal rotation) and out ➡️ (external rotation.) If you’re confused 🧐 what that means then check my post from yesterday for a visual. __ 📌 The average person should expect to have approx 45 degrees going each ↔️ direction - though how much you can or should have will vary a little by your anatomy which I’ll explain 🗣more in future posts. __ 📌 How can this factor into pain? Well, if you lack the ability to rotate through the hips then the surrounding joints will have to pick 💪 up the slack. Most often the knees become the victims 😢 here, but the lower back also commonly picks up that slack. __ 📌 If your pain is aggravated 🤬 most by twisting at the knee or rotating at the back there’s a good chance you fall into this category - but for a definitive answer you need to consult 👨‍⚕️ with a good PT. __ 📌 What about performance? Well, hip drive is vital for a -ton- of sports 🤽‍♀️ including baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball and golf. It’s pretty straightforward - if we lack the range of motion to rotate through then we won’t 🙅‍♂️be able to drive through our hips optimally. __ 📌 Good hip rotation is also important for a variety of other athletes - like basketball ⛹️‍♂️ or soccer players. In these athletes the motion is important to be able to cut and change directions in a way that optimally absorbs and 💪 generates force. __ 👫Have a friend who could use this? So I started a new 20 minute program as you all know. TRUTH bomb it’s not really something I love. I went into it knowing it wouldn’t be my “thing” because I’m not a cardio girl. But I’m going to FINISH IT! 💪🏻 Any exercise is better than no exercise. Even if I have to modify I’m still moving my body and burning calories! 😬 Exercise doesn’t have to be perfect. Just because you can’t do the moves and need to modify you don’t give up and call yourself a failure. You push through! That’s what makes you stronger! 👊🏻 Nobody is perfect. And nothing is ever a failure until you stop trying... that is the only way to fail!

430×3×5 work sets, set 8 overall. I saw this post by @steficohen on why some people just stop getting stronger, and it made me reevaluate somethings. One of the points that really got me was how we tend to avoid exercises we hate doing. Im going to include exercise variations in that group. I used to mix up my conventional and sumo pulling quite frequently, but after a few back injuries I elected to focus on the sumo technique to take some pressure off my low back. Sumo has always been a better setup for me, because to be honest its much easier to move more weight. The better strength building exercise is the conventional DL, but I avoided it out of this unfounded fear of hurting myself. If were being honest, there was probably an ego component in there too. This is one of the first times Ive done a conventional setup in ages. Time to start doing the things I hate for the purpose of becoming better.

When I think about it I guess I do this because I got addicted to doing better. When you have a goal, and the only thing between you and that goal is your decisions, its time to be ready to dig deep. If its for extra money to support your passion, more knowledge on it, results from it. Youre going to have to do the things that are not easy. The extra hours, the extra reps, the investing in your future when youre tired after working the hours that are supporting your present. When you put everything you have into it, every day counts, and to make it count you have to do better than the last.
