Helllloo shiny happy people, happy Tuesday and happy lower body day! What’s lower body workout @alexia_clark , will my 🍑 look just like yours now, because with all of that I feel like it should do 😂 So I woke up still not feeling good BUT I know that getting myself moving will always help (unless I’m actually unable to leave bed then I stay put) so I got my gear on and out my crown on to tackle, what I though would be, a quick two circuits. I couldn’t have been more wrong..... C1 was butt death. I followed the circuit notes and only increased by 1kg going from the single leg thrusters to the standard ones. Considering I normally stack up to 35kg - 40kg I was a bit unsure but boy did that butt thrusting burn!!!! I LOVED the single leg step up hops but boy they burned too. On the last round I tool the hop out and did a crunch opposite elbow to knee because I just couldn’t hop 😬 Then C2 with some super new moves. The goblet squat side lunge looked amazing fun but when I performed a squat, my lower back hurt. Good old totm always brings on lower back ache so I took the squat out and performed side lunges. The mini band dead lift step was so so SO much fun followed by the donkey kick with a long band. It seemed to take a long time and when I realised I’d been working out for 45 minutes I knew it was time to call it a day. If I’d have been on top form I would’ve loved this work out even more, I probably would’ve gone for another circuit too, but today is not that day. Me and they boys are snuggled up watching Harry Potter. Youngest one is napping on me today, apparently only I will do. I’m going to do some gentle yoga later to have a stretch. I felt so sorry for myself last night I had some ice cream and chocolate.... I didn’t eat it all though which is a total win. I may have eaten my feelings but a small victory in that I didn’t binge, I just enjoyed a treat for my soul. How did you find leg day?? As a mum of a 3 year old and and a 13 year old...This is a typical morning for me. . 5.45am - wake up, get dressed, set up for workout. 6.00am - start workout 6.30 ish - moo wakes up and joins me down stairs .. I pause my workout we have a cuddle , I make her some breakfast and set her up with a cartoon to watch. 6.35 ish - return to workout 7.00 am - pause workout get Charlie up for school 7.05 ish - return to workout whilst Charlie gets showered and dressed 7.20 ish - Charlie comes down stairs .. my workout ends and it’s on to packed lunches, and getting C organised for school. Whilst recording my post workout IG stories in the kitchen hahah 7.45 - 8.15 spend time with the children before C goes to school 8.20 Send Charlie off to school. . . To some of you this will seem like an odd time to work out full of interruptions and family pressures... but to me.. well I don’t know any different and neither does my body... I don’t ever look at it like there’s a perfect time or a good time to workout.. it’s just a non negotiable part of my morning like packing up lunches and emptying the dishwasher.. if I waited to find the perfect least stressful opportunity id be waiting forever. I don’t let my day to day circumstances dictate my workout it happens regardless. As for the interruptions.. my body only reacts to what i did, the way I did it! It has NO IDEA what it didn’t do.. or the way it could have done it. . . No running, exercising, or school work took place. I mean sleeping barely took place if I’m honest. So, instead of this Monday being a fresh start to the week, it ended up being my catch up day. WHERE TO PLACE YOUR FEET FOR SQUATS?! If you are just beginning to squat and are not sure where to place your feet, here is a great guide to start with. This is not to say this is the only foot position, but one you can fix and mold to your liking. When squatting we want our knees to drive out over our mid foot, and make sure we are pushing from the heel all the way to our big toe. #wholefoot Form matters first and controlling our tempo when first beginning is crucial for future development! I’m back. Took all 10 days off while I was on vacation, but still had all the same aches and pains as when I left. I spent the last week getting into some routines that focus on rehabilitation, activation, stabilization and just overall correcting my movement patterns. I’m starting up weaker than I was for sure, but I feel taking a few steps back was necessary to keep moving forward. This is a 1RM Wide-Stance Poor Man’s Safety Bar Box Squat w/ Mini’s @ 225#. Kept the box higher at 18” to work on staying more upright as I come up, and really focused on keeping my entire foot on the floor. Looking at my form I’m pretty sure I’ve entirely forgotten how to deadlift BUT I was able to do this with no knee pain afterwards which is new (well, since the last 1.5 years). Combined these deads with my lower body programme and finished off my session with some hanging work. Happy days.
