Exploring Votes For Women @museumoflondon today! Seeing the suffragettes’ medals, awarded for incarceration and hunger striking was incredibly humbling. Such bravery. Also, a reminder that I’ve had Emmeline Pankhurst’s memoir sat on my shelf far too long. #bookstagram #votesforwomen #feministreads #museumoflondon #suffragette #vote100

Football may not be coming home, but the waistcoat is! Englands manager Gareth Southgate lucky waistcoat is being sought by the Museum of London. First introduced by King Charles II, waistcoats have been around for 300 years, with an influence on male fashion that seems to still be going strong! I can safely say today was one of the proudest moments of my career and my life. One of my pieces Suffragette from my collection The Power of Her is currently being exhibited in one of Londons most renowned museums and I couldnt be happier. The cherry on top, having my supportive, amazing parents and boyfriend accompany me to see it and seeing them just as proud, I couldnt have achieved what I have without them. A specail thank you to @museumoflondon for displaying my work and being such a joy to work with from start to finish. To catch you up if you didnt see yesterdays post. Im being indulgent and mudlarking six tides in six days in six locations. Since I often get asked how much I come home with on every trip I thought Id post everything I come home with at the end of the day (I leave a fair amount where it is too so thats not included). A little reminder that everything I find is found without digging, scraping or a metal detector. It was all just sitting on the surface. Location 2: I love this location, its hard to get to and Im always alone there. Finds can be a bit hit and miss, but today was definitely a hit... • Orange glass bead • 17th century trade token for The Fleing Horse (flying horse) in Charterhouse Lane • Hooks and eyes • Late 19th - early 20th century fly button • Bone button for my collection of bone buttons • Bone button form for my bone button form collection • Single riveted medieval mail loop • Large handmade pin head c.1400-1800 • Ivory veneer from a domino c.19th century • Writing slate pencil late 19th - early 20th century • Headless Queens guard lead soldier late 19th - early 20th century • Legless lead soldier (can anyone identify the uniform, looks World War I to me) • Toy cannon barrel c.late 19th century • Peny ink pot 19th century • Glass and metal syringe late 19th - early 20th century • Clay pipes 17th and 19th century • Fossilised sea urchin • Corked lip from a handblown apothecary bottle c.17th century • Glass stopper late 19th - early 20th century • Shard from a willow pattern plate late 19th - early 20th century

Late Medieval Border Ware cistern bunghole, c. 1340-1500. Found on the River Thames foreshore, London. A cistern was a jug for holding liquids. The bunghole allowed the contents to be removed and would have contained a stopper when not in use. Swipe for complete example from the Museum of London collection. . It possibly ended up in the Thames as part of rubbish used to extend the bank into the river channel. . #pottery #ceramics #earthenware #archaeology #medieval #cistern #jug #bunghole #history #london #mudlark #mudlarking #beachcombing #seaglass #metaldecting #metaldetectingfinds #foundobjects #riverfinds #dirtfishing #historylesson #museumoflondon

At the end of the visit I learnt something about swinging London fashion (I wish I could still buy at BIBA, it looked so cool) and I had a chance of see the 2012 Olympics cauldron. #edsflipbook #museumoflondon

But my favourite part was the Victorian Walk and the Modern London Galleries. There were so many pretty things and funny costumes. I also watched some old movies. #edsflipbook #museumoflondon

Then we arrived to Stuarts and Georgians. I saw how Shakespears theatre looked back then and I tried on an old firefighter hat. #edsflipbook #museumoflondon

Hello, Im Verka the Party Monster. Paloma has lent me her account so I can show you my visit to the #museumoflondon. There were a lot of interesting things. Here you can see how Prehistoric Londoners lived.

And then the Romans came. Paloma knows a lot a lot about Romans and she explained to me. Did you know they called ingots pigs? Thats from her favourite book. #edsflipbook #museumoflondon

‪I’m staying on a friend’s beautiful old Dutch barge at the moment. Within sniffing distance of the Thames and the perfect place to finish writing my book. It may be hotter than a floating bean can, but I think I’m in heaven!‬

If you find something that looks like a little horseshoe, its not. It comes off the heel of an old boot like this. They prolonged wear, in days when a new pair of boots was a luxury few could afford and children often went unshod.

4/6 Super exposition au Museum of London sur la façon dont les photographes ont donné à voir la nuit londonienne, du début de la photo a aujourd’hui. Worth it ! Et à part deux messieurs qui étaient là en même temps que moi, j’avais presque l’expo pour moi !! Photos strictement interdites donc je n’ai pris que l’affiche. #museumoflondon #londonnights

I always seem to capture a photo of one or two of the children. Very rarely I manage to get all three together. Especially in focus and looking at the camera at the same time. Life seems be passing in a blur at the moment and Im quite sad about that. I feel as though I am missing out on so much. With the summer holidays approaching Im on a mission to tick off my to do list, switch off during the day and make the most of the days we have together. No big plans made, or holidays booked just days out here and there to occupy us. But also looking forwards to lazy days at the beach, the park and woodlands walks. What do you have planned for the summer holidays? #siblingsproject #museumoflondon #victorianwalk #epig #Roo #Tigger #Piglet #childhoodunplugged #childhood #lifethroughalens #lifethroughmylens #pixel_kids #candidchildhood #lifecloseup #fiercelittleones #capturingmoments #capturingmemories #schoolsout

People often ask if I collect anything. I collect these, kiln spacers, squidges of clay that were quickly fashioned to support and space pots in kilns and date back as far as the 17th century. They were thrown out with the rest of the kiln waste onto the foreshore and are quite easy to find, also to overlook! I like them because they are disposable and seemingly unimportant, but each one is a moment caught in time, the exact moment the potter or kiln master pressed his fingers or hands into the wet clay and left a piece of themselves behind to travel through history. Through their thumb, finger and even whole palm prints I can quite literally hold hands with history. These are some I found last week.

Roman London Ware bowl sherd, c. 70 AD-200 AD. Found on the River Thames foreshore, London. . London ware was a local form of tableware produced in south eastern Britain commencing a few decades following the Roman invasion. It mimicked the more expensive imported pottery, samian ware - especially the ovolo decoration as seen in this example. . It emerged following the supression of the Boudican revolt in which forces loyal to the Queen of the Celtic Iceni tribe, Boudica, burned Roman Londinium. The form remained popular across the subsequent Flavian period which saw the furthest extension of Roman power across the British Isles. . #romanpottery #roman #romanbritain #ancientrome #romans #archaeology #romanarchaeology #museumoflondon #mudlarking #mudlarkingfinds #metaldetctingfinds #metaldetecting #beachcombing #potteryshards #pottery #ceramics #ancienthistory #gaul #london

Glinting in the sunlight last week, I found a huge jewel! I suspect it’s a fairly modern garnet, but I’m dreaming it might be a ruby!

A very large old section of elm water pipe. Probably excavated in Clerkenwell in 1902, and adapted shortly after as a jardiniere with a metal liner. Elm water pipes carried water from Clerkenwell round pond to the City of London in order to supply fresh water. The pipes were made from tree trunks, mainly elm, bored through from end to end. The pipes were first laid by Sir Hugh Myddleton in 1613 and the last in 1797. This section measures 64cm across at its widest point. #antiquesforsale #design #collection #interiordesign #treen #unique #history #cityoflondon #museumoflondon #excavation #medieval #water #peace #love #christies #woodworking #elmtree #dendrology
