Ana (@myabarbosa) from the gym didnt have any specific issues coming in. So assessing movement always clues me in on what I can do to help her move better. Her arms were having difficulty in the overhead position, and came down during the squats. Assessing with the arms down showed a good squat. On the table, her left thigh would rise off and lacked left hip external rotation, and right hip internal rotation. Treatment: So for the shoulders, softened up pec major/minor, upper traps, subscap, teres minor, and lats. Wake up the mid/lower traps, and upper erectors. For the left hip, the quads. Sometimes all it takes is one person to change the way you think or feel about pain, movement, mindset, healing, nutrition, etc. Many times over for me that was Dr. Perry of @stopchasingpain, if you don’t know the man or his work get familiar - life changing, crazy path, unicorn voodo 🦄 ✨ Over the last three years I have spent a lot of time contemplating the changes I needed to make personally to be the best me I could be, but as I walked the path that lead to my journey one thing became clear - I wanted to help those who felt the way I felt when I began. I wanted to be there for those who felt broken and defeated. I want people to know that they can believe in themselves and others will believe in them too, because we are all worthy. I admit though, I had no idea how I would do that, or how I would reach the people that needed and wanted me. I considered chiropractic care, functional medicine/nutrition, lifestyle coaching, yoga teacher training and more. Naturally I gravitated to the professions of those I looked up to and while many of these may be still be options for me in the future I decided the best fit for me currently was to become a fitness professional. In September I started taking courses to get my NASM certification in personal training and if all goes as planned I will be certified by the new year! Reluctantly I have created this instagram account to share some of the things I have learned along the way, in hopes of reaching those who find inspiration and education on IG, because that was me! Week 2 of meso-cycle 2 tryna catch some gains! I decided to drop my straight set approach and move over to pyramid sets of goal reps and rep ranges. I always leave 2 or 3 reps in the tank, and increase reps weekly, while building intensity very slowly.
