#TransparentTuesday *Long Read • • When living your best life catches up to you 😂 August was not my best month, and September isn’t looking much better 😅🤦🏻‍♂️ I can honestly tell you guys that I’ve let go of my discipline and my self control A LOT ever since I went on vacation. The sweets and goodies that I used to say “no” to without hesitation became a lot more common day after day, and my cheat meals kept getting bigger and bigger. I didn’t think much of it because I was training sooo much and figured that I would burn those calories off, and for the most part, it was true. But then, I got hurt, and all of my high intensity training slowed to a complete halt. I kept eating junk food without control and here we are. I firmly believe that fitness isn’t a destination, it’s a lifelong journey. I want to share this part of my journey with y’all because for 1: I want to show you that I’m not perfect nor do I think I am. And 2: That we all make mistakes and it’s perfectly normal to “fall off” of your discipline for a little while, but you can’t let it derail you completely and give up on your goals. • • I’ve put together a plan to get myself back into the best shape that I can while I’m healing and before I go back to training in Crossfit. Here’s what it looks like.. - -ACTUALLY using @myfitnesspal and tracking my calories and macros -Cardio 30-45 minutes a day (no exceptions) -Training legs twice a week (especially since its one of the only body parts that I can train without a lot of pain in my rib) -Progressively training more things and pushing my comfort zone everyday throughout recovery -Going to sleep earlier, waking up at the same time every day -Drinking as much water as I can every day -NO “CHEAT MEALS” FOR A MONTH -No junk food, little treats, or even a bite of someone else’s food -Reminding myself everyday that I’ve done this before, and I can do it again!! • • Reaching a goal is always fun and exciting. For the last 2 weeks we have started our next phase of training with the wrestlers. In this phase body weight training is more of the focus. As you can see we ended a upper body workout with ‘Wheel barrel’ walks for a burn out. We also are increasing our circuit based training. We will be doing this program leading up to the season. Taking out the water in dried fruits concentrates both the nutrients and calories. Therefore when sticking to appropriate serving size, the calories, macros and sugar content of the two varieties does not differ significantly. Having dried fruit may be very advantageous while on the go (easy accessible calories and refuel for your body) but it is a disadvantage for those trying to lose weight and calculating macros and restricting calories 🤗 I personally would choose fresh banana but only because fresh fruit offers more volume and water, which keeps me feeling full for longer 👍🏼 Then why there is such a difference in calories in 100g of each product in my pictures? It’s simply because you see banana chips on the left (looking exactly as dried banana slices), most probably deep fried to achieve the crunchy texture and so that reach in fat (mostly saturated fat) and calories 😌 Be mindful of what you’re grabbing from the grocery shelves especially when in a hurry (me on Saturday hence banana chips instead of dried banana 🙈) and read the labels 📝💁🏼‍♀️ #nutrition #banana #macros💪🏼 - #regrann

Grilled Salmon with Avocado Greek Salsa and Orzo Follow @beautifulquickly —— Ingredients: 1 cup dry orzo 4 (6 oz) skinless salmon fillets 3 Tbsp olive oil, divided, plus more for brushing grill Salt and freshly ground black pepper 2 small Roma tomatoes, diced (1 cup) 1/2 of a cucumber, peeled and chopped (1 cup) 1/3 cup chopped red onions 1/3 cup chopped kalamata olives 2 garlic cloves, minced (2 tsp) 1 medium avocado, peeled and diced 1/2 cup crumbled feta (2.5 oz) 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice 3 Tbsp finely minced fresh parsley 1 Tbsp finely minced fresh oregano —— Instructions: Prepare orzo according to directions on package, drain (I recommend tossing with just a little olive oil). Preheat a grill to medium-high heat (about 400 degrees. Meanwhile chop ingredients for salsa). Brush both sides of the salmon fillets with 1 Tbsp of the olive oil and season both sides with salt and pepper. Brush clean grill grates lightly with olive oil then place salmon on grill (close lid) grill until cooked though, about 3 minutes per side.
