And if they do, you probably ate a little too much, and it’s costing you your daily calories. Managing hunger may become a problem . On the flip side, you can use these foods as an advantage if you are in a surplus of calories, trying to develop muscle. When weekend nights end like this, you know you did something right! ❤️ 😟 I am honestly saddened when I hear people (especially women) who complain about eating too much food in the weekends so they need to workout more during the week. You can’t do that without expecting to fail at some time. You can’t keep eating whatever you want on Saturday and Sunday and then return to boring salads on Monday and pretend the weekend meals didn’t even exist. 🥊 stop lying to yourself about working harder the next week. And don’t skip meals the next week just because you did ‘something bad’ on weekends. It doesn’t work that way. If you skip meals, you’re gonna put your body under a lot of stress and the next time you’ll eat, you’ll eat more because your body went in survival mode. 🐞 as with pizza, ice cream and so on, you don’t have to only enjoy it on Saturday and Sunday because you’ll make a habit out of it and you’ll wait for the weekends only to get your hands on meals like that. And it’s gonna be mentally exhausting for you. You’re gonna eat more just because you’re waiting for the last 2 days of the week to indulge 😜 now I don’t want to tell you that you should eat pizza or ice cream daily, but you have to make a healthy habit out of it. If you’re strong enough, OK, eat that foods on weekend, but if not, try listening to your body and give it what it needs. Well, our body always craves fatty foods or carbs if we don’t have a balanced lifestyle, but make sure you’re following a decent way of eating. And here’s another tip: STOP saying you’re going on a diet from Monday on. Instead, try eating less foods that are ruining your lifestyle ⭐️ #flavnutrition

How do you pick out a good melon? I’d love to hear your tricks and I’ll share mine as well 😎😎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Melons are so great because they are pretty much just water disguised as food. Because of this, you get lots of volume for little calories. Both these bowls were around 500g worth of fruit and right around 200 calories. I am a boredom eater and during April-June I find myself on the couch watching the NBA playoffs often. It’s almost like I have some psychological need to eat while I sit there because if I don’t have food, I won’t watch the games. Melons are great because they provide so much volume for few calories and I can spread if out over an hour or so 👍👍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s how I pick my cantaloupe. They have been really good this year so I definitely recommend buying one next time you’re at the store. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔸Find one that is heavy for its size 🔸Make sure there are no major blemishes. 🔸Press on the butt and if it is soft, it’s ripe. If it’s firm, not yet. The butt is the opposite side of the stem. I don’t know what the actual name is but it seems like a butt to me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How to pick a good watermelon 🍉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔹Find one that is heavy for its size 🔹Find one that has a large sun spot. 🔹Find one with those brown marks on it that feel and look kind of like tree bark. Another fitness myth that needs to die!

Calories do not change dependant on the time you eat them. So if you are set to eat in a deficit with a calorie goal of 1500 per day it doesnt matter at what point you eat these calories. As long as you stick to this calorie goal (and youve worked out your deficit right) you will lose weight.

Now... where a lot of people fall down is that when they eat at night they tend to pick high calorie, processed snack foods that certainly will destroy your goals for the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can give you all the tips & advice in the world but a lot of this still comes down to your own discipline. I cant be stood at the side of your fridge slapping your hand away ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So dont let this mythical time stand in your way of eating. If you need to eat late thats totally fine. Just stick to the meals you would normally eat and not snacking on that bag of crisps and dip or tub of B&Js at the back of the freezer ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

👊🏼Creatine👊🏼 - Creatine is probably the most studied and safest supplement on the market - and one of the few I take religiously every day - Creatine provides energy to your muscle cells during prolonged muscle use. This can delay fatigue and all you to train longer - leading to increases in strength and performance. - Creatine has also been shown to increase the recovery rate of muscle cells - reducing the rest period between workouts. So you may be able to train more often. - Similarly to your muscles - creatine can have a positive effect on your brain function. Some studies have shown the creatine supplementation improves I.Q., attention span and working memory. It has also been shown to reduce mental fatigue. - The simplest way to take creatine is 5g per day, everyday. A loading phase can be done (20g a day for 7 days then 5g daily) but this isn’t necessary. Timing is also irrelevant as studies have shown no increase in muscular uptake when taken pre/post workout. Some studies have shown increased uptake when taking with a carbohydrate and reduced when taken with caffeine. 1-5 Reps VS 6-12 Reps By @musclemonsters _ Are you having a hard time gaining weight and building muscle? Do you want to Bulk Up Fast without getting fat? Conversely, the more muscle you build, the stronger you’ll become. That said, however, if the main goal is strength, then the principles may differ slightly than if the goal were to maximize muscle growth…. but not by much. _ It’s an irrefutable fact that we can gain strength faster when using heavier loads when compared to lighter weights, so it makes sense that if the main goal is to get stronger, you should be lifting relatively heavy. This, however, doesn’t mean you should only train with heavier loads in the 1-5 rep range—it simply means that heavy loads should be the focus of your training. _ If, on the other hand, your goal is to maximize muscle growth, then the majority of your training should be in the 6-12 rep range. This is true for a couple of reasons. First, one of the most important variables for gaining muscle is volume; this is easily achieved when we’re doing more total reps. Second, this seems to be a sweet spot for both mechanical stress and muscle damage—two of the main mechanisms of muscle growth. That said, heavier loads (in the 1-5 rep range) should still be a part of any bodybuilding program… not just for the mechanical stress, but for the increase in strength that will then allow you to push more weight in the higher rep rangers (thus resulting in more total work). _ Although you can gain strength without aiming to build muscle, hypertrophy will likely be a byproduct of lifting progressively heavier over time. You burn fat by being in a calorie deficit and moving more. However, a major part of any diet is food choices. There is only one way to reduce belly fat and flatten your stomach. There is only one way to have visible abs (if that is your ultimate goal). You have to be in a calorie deficit. You have to expend more calories than you are taking in. You cant exercise a specific area on your body and lose fat in that area. You have to lose body fat overall. The easiest way to do this is to start with your nutrition. Use a calorie deficit calculator to get a good starting point. Remember to be honest with your answers. The calculator will ask for your sex, age, weight, height and activity level. Batch Cooking Sunday ... anybody else do this? Makes the rest of the week a breeze! When the fridge is stocked up its much easier to make good food choices (especially during the holidays!) and also make sure youre eating a 🌈 And remember we are encouraged to eat colours because each colour contains a different health benefit. This is what Ive made: ➕Cauliflower roasted with turmeric, black pepper and olive oil ➕Roasted beetroot, then chopped and I added a tablespoon is aged balsamic vinegar to it ➕Sweet potatoes roasted with paprika, salt and olive oil ➕Courgettes with an Italian seasoning and pink salt ➕Mushrooms with garlic salt and black pepper ➕Steamed broccoli ➕Roasted carrots ➕asparagus cooked dry in a pan - get a nutty taste to it when cooked like this 😋 ➕Quinoa cooked in some bone broth and then I added left over chopped herbs that I had in the house... It takes a little of effort on the weekend but honestly its just chopping and roasting and a little bit of boiling but it makes the week so much easier and you have less prep to do. You just need to plate up the veggies and quinoa on a bed of greens, then I usually add another protein source (hummus or chicken or fish or eggs) half an avocado and some fermented food (kimchi or sauerkraut) so that youre also getting some probiotics in for good gut health. It’s completely vegan and gluten-free for those who have dietary restrictions. 🌟What to Eat Before You Workout🌟 ( IN LAST CLASS I LEARNT THIS TOPIC 🔥 ) ⠀ 👋🏼 Hi hi! Are you in need of some meal/snack ideas to eat before your workout? I gotcha covered 🤓 ⠀ 👅Truthfully, you can eat whatever you want, but in my experience, a combo of protein, carbs and caffeine usually works pretty well. ⠀ 💩My go-to is usually coffee and a banana or protein bar, cause I’m usually on the go and don’t have time to make a legitimate meal. It’s totally up to your preferences, but I would recommend eating carbs, which are great for giving you energy for your workout 🔥 ⠀ If you’re a numbers person, here’s a general range to aim for, depending on your goals: ⠀ ✅ Protein: 20-35 grams ✅ Carbs: 20-50 grams ✅ Caffeine: optional but very helpful ✅ Timing: 1-3 hours before your workout ⠀ 📖 Keep in mind, these are just guidelines. The best advice I can give is to listen to your body. Usually your body will give you signs during your workout if you prefer a bigger preworkout meal or a smaller snack. You don’t want to feel like you’re gonna throw up, yet you want to have enough energy to get through the workout. ⠀ ⏰You can always adjust portion size depending on when you consume your pre-workout meal. Since the inception of protein powders and supplements, protein has become inherently linked with those looking to build muscular physiques 💪 However, in more recent times there has been a bigger shift toward diet related products and even many health foods are marketed as being high protein due to the importance of it (many of them are not high in protein) ⬇️ UK government guidelines suggest that 0.8 grams of protein per kg of body weight is sufficient. However, theres a wealth of evidence concluding that this is not an optimal amount, particularly for those who frequently engage in physical activity. ⬇️ Achieveing a calorie deficit is key to losing weight, but the type of exercise and the type of foods that make up your calories play a crucial role in how you lose weight - in simple terms we want to maximise fat loss and minimise muscle loss. This is where protein plays a key role. ⬇️ Evidence has shown that increased protein intake helps to reduce muscle loss whilst on a calorie restricted diet, even in the absence of resistance training. ⬇️ 1.2-2 grams of protein per kg of body weight is what you should aim for - towards the top end if you are frequently engaging in heavy resistance training. So, if you weigh 75 kg your protein intake should be somewhere between 90-150g of protein per day. ⬇️ Aim to achieve this through your food intake, but if you find that difficult a simple whey protein is a good option.
