Jagdish Temple Location: Udaipur, Rajasthan(India) This Beautiful Jagdish temple near famous ghat of Udaipur (India), Gangaur Ghat which is barely 100 metres away from the temple. Jagdish temple was made by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651. Maharana Jagat Singh ruled Udaipur for 25 years from 1628 to 1653. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (the preserver of the universe). It is the largest temple in the city. After 28 years of the construction of the temple, Mughal ruler Aurangzeb wanted the temple to get destroyed and sent his army to do so. But the army of Maharana Raj Singh (ruler of Udaipur back then) didn’t let him do so. And so, Jagdish Mandir was saved from getting destroyed. #mytravellingsoulnivida #rajasthan #udaipur #jagdishtemple #neargangaurghat #templenearcityoflakes #tourism #rajasthantourism #padharomharedesh #MyRajasthan #indiatourism #visitindia #udaipurtourism #rajasthan #photography #photorupt_rajasthan #travel #travelblogger #travelphotography #indiantraveller #ancientmonuments #temple

Trivia Rajasthan! Part 5 The Great wall of India, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan! ** Kumbhalgarh Fort, a World Heritage Site is a Mewar fortress in the Rajsamand District of Rajasthan. It is one of the hill forts of Rajasthan sitting at 1100 metres above sea level. It was built during the 15th century by Rana Kumbha and was enlarged through the 19th century. ** Legends say that in 1443, the Maharana of Kumbhalgarh, Rana Kumbha, repeatedly failed to build the fort wall. When a spiritual preceptor was consulted, he said that a voluntary human sacrifice would solve the problem. He also advised to build a temple where the head would fall. No one volunteered for a long time, until one day, a pilgrim volunteered and he was ritually decapitated. The main gate of the fortress, Hanuman Pol contains a shrine and a temple in the honor of the great sacrifice. ** The perimeter walls of Kumbhalgarh fort extend up to 36 km, making it the second longest wall in the world, after the Great Wall of China. Within the fort there are over 360 temples, 300 ancient Jain and the rest Hindu. ** From the top of the fort, one can see the seemingly endless Aravali range. Even the sand dunes and Thar desert are visible from the walls. So, this fort is not only a historical place but also promises a great view. ** Visitors should beware that this piece of history, while alluring and well-preserved, is not well-trafficked. That remoteness and the potential to have miles of ruins all to oneself is appealing to plenty of off-the-beaten-path travelers, but the walls are tall, the stone hard, and while many of the traps and defensive mechanisms along the wall and fort have been deactivated, that does not mean accidents cannot happen. Trivia Rajasthan! Part 4 Chand Baori Stepwell - Abhaneri, Rajasthan! ** Chand Baori is one of the oldest and most attractive landmarks in Rajasthan. It was built by King Chanda of the Nikumbh dynasty between 800 CE and 900 CE, and was dedicated to Hashat Mata, Goddess of Joy and Happiness upon completion. ** It consists of 3,500 narrow steps over 13 stories and extends approximately 30 m (100 ft) into the ground making it one of the deepest and largest stepwells in India. ** The state of Rajasthan is extremely arid, and the design and final structure of Chand Baori was intended to conserve as much water as possible. At the bottom of the well, the air remains 5-6 degrees cooler than at the surface, and Chand Baori was used as a community gathering place for locals during periods of intense heat. ** Chand Baori has been used as a filming location for a number of films such as Bhoomi, The Fall, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. It was also the inspiration for the The Pit prison used in The Dark Knight Rises. Trivia Rajasthan! Part 3 THE CURSED GHOST TOWN OF KULDHARA, RAJASTHAN! ** Established around 13th century, it was once a prosperous village inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins. It was abandoned by the early 19th century for unknown reasons. ** Legend has it, this village with a population of 1500+ people abandoned the village overnight! According to this version, the lecherous minister Salim Singh was attracted to a beautiful girl from the village. He sent his guards to force the villagers to hand over the girl. The villagers asked the guards to return next morning, and abandoned the village overnight!!! ** The local legend claims that while deserting the village, the Paliwals imposed a curse that no one would be able to re-occupy the village. Those who tried to re-populate the village experienced paranormal activities, and therefore, the village remains uninhabited! Trivia Rajasthan! Part 1 TANOT MATA TEMPLE - LONGEWALA BORDER ** The story of Tanot Temple at the Longewala border in Rajasthan is a miraculous tale when the local deity Tanot aka Awad Mata didnt let any Pakistani tank bomb explode and Indian soldiers who were certain of martydom and defeat went on to crush the Pakistanis in both 1965 as well as 1971 wars. ** Legend has it that in both wars more than 3,000 bombs were dropped in the vicinity of the temple, but none exploded.
