(1) Speaking to those people who dont get sustainability by speaking *their* language rather than ramming it down their throat in a self righteous way. Everyone thinks they are right, so youd just be at loggerheads unless you become less preachy (@khandiz from @untaintedmag) . (2) The fact that we should use whatever means possible to educate ourselves and make changes in a personal level because if we wait for the government to do something, itll be too late. (From @telltalefood) . (3) When taking about how Brexit will increase food prices, it was noted that perhaps this will encourage people to use and purchase more sustainably? If food costs more, people will be encouraged to use the whole chicken for example, not throw away your last few mushrooms or the root of the celery. People will be wiser. (@telltalefood) . (4) everything has a flipside. For example, using paper bags are better for the environment, but they take more energy to produce. Or helping local businesses in developing countries to make a living by weaving rugs may mean buying cheaper and less eco friendly dyes to make it financially sustainable for them to live. So its hard to say categorically what is better for the planet. So pick something and believe in it. As long as youre making a conscious decision to live better and more sustainably, thats good. You cant win everything! . Super Easy Vegan Apple Crumble . .Peel and slice 8-10 apples and put them at the bottom of a baking shape. . .Sprinkle 1 tbsp of canella and 1/2 cup of sugar on top of the apples. Pour evently 1/2 cup of water on top of the apples. . .Crumble : 1 cup of oat mixed with 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tbsp of flour, 1 tbsp of baking powder and 1 tsp of bakingsoda. Chickpea Vegan Tikka Masala. One pot easy and quick receipe. . . .in 2 tbsp of olive oil add 1 diced onion and let it cook on low fire until transparent. Add two minced garlic and 1 tbsp of grated ginger. New calculations show that up to 90% of our reefs could die by 2030 if we make no change to how we are living. This is with only a 1.5 degree rise in temperatures. If we dont act now, these precious ecosystems may completely collapse within the next decade or two. Carbon emissions MUST drastically decrease in order to prevent this. Coal used for energy may need to reduce by 78% percent by 2030 to save the reefs. Doesnt look like our governments are making any large scale changes, so WE need to make a change. Step up, reduce electricity use, reduce meat consumption (a bigger contributor to emissions than all transport combined), take public transport/carpool/bike/walk, reuse and recycle, spread the word. The dessert is a speciality from the province of Quebec and it is delicious. . .Sauce : 1cup of maple syrup, 1 cup of boiling water, 1 cup of cassonade and 1/4 cup of vegetal margarina or butter. Whisk all together in a pot until it boils. . .Cake : 1 1/2 cup of flour, 2 tea spoons of baking powder, 1/4 of vegetal butter, 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of plant based milk (I used unflavored soya milk). . .Preheat oven at 325F° . Later on, you will bake the cake 45 minutes. . .in a bowl, mix the butter and the brown sugar together until smooth. Then, add the milk and the flour litlle by little and make sure that you mix the cake well before adding more. . .You are now ready to pour evenly the cake mix into a 13x9 baking shape. It seemed a bit ironic to think that the zoo was preserving the life of some bison but also supporting the consumption of others. - If you look closely at the sign, the Animal Care & Conservation Fund states that by purchasing prairie-fed, free-range bison meat instead of beef you are supporting the restoration of the bison and all the Great Plains inhabitants. It sounds like a good cause to support. However, language like: purchasing, instead, supporting, and restoration all conflict because they sway toward one specific opinion: eat bison, not beef. - In addition, I feel as though a message of this nature and coming from this particular source could be misleading to people of all ages because it encourages a demand for a specific market. - The bison population is nearly threatened which means they are not at a high risk for extinction. But if we can do something is try and learn from history. Since the first settlers arrived to the states the bison population went from 50 million, to a few hundred, and today about 500,000. Before I start flying here is another healthy vegetarian dish you can do for your dinner if you aren’t enjoying a BBQ ☀️ • • Sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry with cauliflower and cucumber garlic yoghurt 💪🏼😋 • • A low carb dish that’s nutritious 💁🏼‍♀️. Carbs aren’t bad but I’m trying to get back to a healthy BMI so I tend to reduce carbs in the evening 🍝 • • RECIPE: In a sauce pan heat 4 teaspoons of coconut oil and toast 1tbsp cumin seeds for 1 min. Add 1 medium onion, pinch of salt cook till soft. Add 3 garlic cloves, 4 tsp of grated ginger, 1tsp ground turmeric, 1tsp ground coriander and 1/4tsp red pepper flakes. Add 1 sweet potato peeled and cut into 1cm cubes, 1 can of chickpeas, 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 can of light coconut milk. Cover and simmer for 20-30mins. Stir in 1 bag of spinach and season. Serve with grains or cauliflower/ cauliflower rice with a lime wedge.

I am the only vegan in my family. One of my kids is vegetarian but the rest are not. Ive always wanted to let them make their own choices - although now (as Im better informed about the health benefits of a vegan diet) I wish Id raised them vegan - and I will continue to let them choose but Ive been gradually phasing in more and more vegan / vegetarian options and nobody has complained. (They are all big enough to buy their own food except one so Im not forcing anything on anyone). This week I bought only dairy free butter instead of one of each, nobody has minded, Ive switched their beef burgers for no bull burgers - a couple of weeks ago - , they love them, and instead of chicken burgers Im buying vegan and vegetarian alternatives which I think they actually prefer. I use veggie mince in their bolognese and Quorn chicken slices in their sandwiches. Yesterday my vegan kebab pieces got a thumbs up. For some people change has to happen slowly and some might never change their minds all the way but I feel that every step is a positive step forward for the animals and the planet, and sometimes, often, encouraging change, leading the way, is a better way than shouting your opinions at people. Yes it will not be achieved soon, but all actions to support veganism matters, and this is a big one, we were 800 peoples that care about the animals, I was proud to be a part of this. This March happens in 38 cities, 16 countries! Last year in Paris they were 3500 to protest against animal killed without necessity. Instead of going “cold turkey” to being vegetarian (pun intended 😂), I’m limiting meat to 1x or less a day. There’s so many benefits to eating a more plant based diet from environmental, health and social (we could feed more hungry people!)
