It’s Thursday and we are officially over the hump! For most, today and Sunday are rest days. 😴 Though we encourage our athletes to workout three, four and upwards of five times a week depending on one’s goals, it’s important to know WHEN to rest if you’re training on back-to-back days. ———— As a general rule of thumb, taking a day off on the fourth day after going hard for three days in a row is ideal (though this always depends on the athlete and how the body is responding to training). On day one, we tend to feel pretty good. We typically feel some general soreness on day two and when we wake up on day three,💥BOOM💥, we begin to feel the effects of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). If we try to train going into day four, we may experience an increase in fatigue, a loss of motivation to train and our mechanics often take the hit. If that happens and we decide to train through it, we are INCREASING our chances of overuse and/or injury. ———— Try this: Instead of training on that fourth day or on days when you’re very sore, get outside and go for a light walk, jog, row, bike, ski, or swim for 30-60+ at a very easy pace 🚶‍♂️🏃‍♀️When you’re done, spend some time working on your mobility and take some extra time to stretch! We have pasted the first tests and pushed through to the 2nd part of the winter: yesterday we arrived at our altitude camp in Sierra Nevada (ESP). For the next 3 weeks we will work our ass off on the ergo and bike. After that we have a short stay home before we leave for 2 weeks to Sevilla to continue the fun & torture in the boat and to roll into the pre-race period of the season. . ELBOW PAIN WITH ROWS? — A standard barbell bent over row will require more grip demand than other row variations. When holding a barbell, it will naturally want to roll out of our hands, so to counter, we increase our grip- specifically in the front part of our forearm. For most, this is not an issue, but for those dealing with nagging elbow pain, this can be quite frustrating. — Rehab for this type of pain will include a variety of movements (person depending), so instead, let’s focus on modifications to reduce stress to this area. — 🔹Option 1: dumbbells. These will reduce overall grip demands (compared to barbell). If tolerable, start here for a few weeks and then progress back to barbell. . 🔹Option 2: kettlebells. The weight distribution of the kettlebell will be less demanding on forearm flexors. If the previous 2 options are too painful, start here. Over time, add in dumbbells and then barbells (if ultimate goal). — Exercise, strength, and movement are powerful tools which provide tremendous value to our lives. When we lose the ability to continue doing what we love because of pain or discomfort, we can become frustrated. Instead, find ways to audible, continue to move, and stay positive! — ✌🏼❤️ 🚣🏼‍♂️

Third week almost done! This is probably the 8th weight lifting workout of 2019 🏋🏻‍♂️ So yesterday I skipped training because I felt depleted🧟‍♂️ and I honestly cba ! And after a great conversation with @jancso92 about weight training I took his advice and lowered the volume of my training, so I don’t burn out quickly or worse injure myself! After taking his advice today’s workout was much better I was able to finish my workout without feeling any pain in my erbs palsy and also I still have energy after my workout Today was chest day, I did 5 sets of 5 but with the first 1 or 2 sets as warm up sets Bench press smith machine Incline bench press Cable flys Bar upright rows Lateral raises P.s I always warm up before workouts by doing 10 - 12 minutes on the elliptical, so my body is all warmed up and get the sweat going.
