City Running Tour of the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC!! This was Saturday morning at 7h am because it is much better to run when tourists are not there yet...! I got a 7.2 mile run in today (on the treadmill, but tomorrow a snow run is in order!), a hot shower, and a decadent spaghetti dinner. The first picture was about an hour or so after it started snowing; and the second picture is snow stuck on a spider web. The third picture is 10-12 inches later and it had stopped actively snowing. I find snow like a peaceful, cleansing event, which inspires curiosity and playful joy. WHAT A WEEKEND! 💙 We made our way home from Millinocket today and made a few stops on the way. First up, this is me, eating what is known as a “lobby pop” at @highrollerlobsterco. If you thought, “That looks like 🦞 on a stick!” you’d be correct! It’s utter heaven 😇. Second, we stopped @bbbthreerivers in Milo today and made an amazing new friend, @mattpoursbeer. We spent 2 hours at the brewery talking to him and had the best time! Third, we had a wonderful time in Millinocket. We’ll definitely be back!

30k Sunday runday completed! I had initially planned to run 27k today but since the weather was really nice, I just had to try and push it a little bit more. Just awesome to feel my body getting used to running longer distances again. This has been the farthest I have run in almost six years. Usually after running this far I would be totally wasted. But this time, I recover very fast and still able to do some stuff after. I prepared and cooked dinner today after running 👨‍🍳. About this morning. Today was the 3rd year at the St Louis Hot Chocolate 5K Event and it was my most memorable yet! Although it was a cold 18 degrees at the start line, I got to race again with my friend @luke.sutton.9883 for the first time since earlier this year! We both experienced injuries from XC Season, but we’re both healed and finished off our road race season with about the same times we started back in February. We will only get stronger from here. I placed 3rd Overall Female out of 3,801 females and 1st in my Age Division with a time of 20:31. Luke placed 9th Overall and 6th in his Age Division out of 89 with a time of 19:08. My Dad @p_frosty finished 1st in his Age Division out of 122 with a time of 20:30. My Mom @manigordo2 placed 89 out of 352 in her division and with a time of 35:53. It was painful and cold at first, but as always it’s well worth it! You get lots of melted chocolate in a bowl with tons of goodies!😍 I think it’s the main reason why nearly 8,000 runners came out today to run this course!😂 I’ll get a nice 3rd place medal mailed to me within the next 4-6 weeks and I can’t wait to see it. We have 62 days until our next 5K and HALF Marathon in New Orleans so there’s no time for slacking now. While most people are winding down for the season, mine is just beginning and I’m ok with that. Completed my first official Ultra Marathon 12.8.18 5️⃣0️⃣ ✔️✔️ . . 50 miles in absolutely brutal conditions of cold and rain. Goal was to finish under the 10 hour mark. When it rains it pours. 😞 Below is what I had typed out to say on my way home from seeing family and friends this weekend, before life happened, yet again. Its been a rough month - my husband was in a car accident a few weeks ago and were still dealing with car repairs and insurance from that accident. Bad luck persisted again today and we were rear ended in my parents car that we were borrowing. 😣 Everyone is okay, but were pretty flabbergasted that this happened again. Not sure if Ill actually be doing my long run tomorrow as the seat banged my head pretty hard, but Ill wait to see how I feel in the morning. Si quieres comprender cómo funciona el crecimiento de la masa muscular, la anatomía es un buen sitio por donde empezar. Cada músculo del cuerpo se compone de muchas fibras, como cuerdas hechas de distintos materiales. Cuando estas cuerdas trabajan juntas como equipo, tu fuerza aumenta sin causar cambios físicos visibles. En otras palabras, la coordinación entre las fibras mejora con la repetición de ejercicios. Sin continúas entrenando, las células musculares aumentarán de tamaño (hipertrofia) y las fibras musculares se volverán más gruesas y fuertes. En este punto empezarás a ver cómo los bíceps se hacen más grandes y cómo empieza a salir el principio de una buena tableta de chocolate. La proteína almacenada en las células musculares es responsable de este crecimiento. Durante el entrenamiento de fuerza, el cuerpo piensa: “Este entrenamiento ha sido duro. Tengo que encontrar una forma de hacerlo más fácil la próxima vez”. El cuerpo entonces repara las mini lesiones causadas por el entrenamiento y al mismo tiempo añade más tejido para la próxima sesión. Si vas aumentando el rendimiento del entrenamiento y sigues dando más de ti, el cuerpo tendrá que continuar adaptándose para los nuevos estímulos. Podríamos decir que los músculos crecen justo después del entreno para ponerse a salvo y estar listos para la próxima vez. Otra cosa importante que tienes que saber es que el número de fibras musculares en el cuerpo se determina al nacer. Así que el entrenamiento no aumenta el número de fibras, sino su grosor y forma. Aumenta poco a poco de repeticiones con el mismo peso. Cuando estés fuerte, aumentas peso y bajas repeticiones, hasta que domines todo. Deja tu like y comparte.
