Oh, not much has changed. Just sprinting and stopping and generally annoying dogs and men on the bike path. . 1 up, 10 pickups with recoveries, 1 down. . Any funny stories of annoying things on the trail? I’m in need of some funny tales. The worst I did was startle some dogs, even though I politely warned them I was coming. They must not have heard me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . Oh yeah, it’s warmed up in Denver again. ☀️

I came home today after ending the day very well and I was tackled by my animals — Elsa & Hurley. I really believe they can sense my moods — today we bounced and zipped around the house. I spent a solid 20 minutes giving them lots of love — they did wait 10 hours to see me. I love my animals. 🐾

Vision always precedes strategy - M. Hyatt I have a bigger vision for what my training team can do and what they can represent. Weve had success this year in a lot of big ways but Im not satisfied with resting on that. Ive been studying and reflecting on all that Ive learned in the last year. Tis the season for letting things go. Im letting go of a few old training philosophies to improve the way I deliver training. I consider myself a strategist. When Im focused on something, I simply cant give up until Ive conquered it. This is really only the beginning. Leading in to spring marathon training, Im going to start a #tiptuesday post to help you refocus with me. Since were heading in to a huge fall racing weekend lets review a few race pacing strategies. 1. Review your training cycle to decide your goal before you toe the line. Did you have a perfect cycle and your ready for your A goal? Do you need to adjust so you dont crash early trying to keep up with an unrealistic pace? Be honest with yourself. 2. Set three different goals for the race. A stretch goal if you feel great and the conditions are perfect. A realistic goal. A goal that you will be happy with if its not an ideal race day. This last goal may not even be tied to a time. 3. The morning of the race, run through your familiar warm-up routine. This simple act will set the tone and help zone in before the gun goes off. 4. Stick to the plan. No matter how good you feel in the first few miles. 5. Evaluate during the run. Have a plan for the middle and finish if youre feeling amazing and have a back up if its not going as planned. 6. Commit to a strong finish. No matter how the day goes, you gave it everything that you had and thats something to be proud of. Finish with a good kick! ¿Qué es una rutina full-body? Las rutinas full-body o de cuerpo completo se caracterizan básicamente por entrenar todos los grupos musculares cada día. Esta característica condiciona todo el entrenamiento porque obviamente no vamos a realizar tres o cuatro series por grupo muscular, ya que el entrenamiento sería eterno, y por eso, en este tipo de entrenamientos, se priorizan los ejercicios multiarticulares o también llamados compuestos. #Tip 📝 Entrenamiento de PLIOMETRÍA🤾🏽‍♀️: la mejor manera de entender lo que es, es saber que se trata de un tipo de ejercicio cuyo objetivo es lograr que los músculos apliquen la mayor fuerza en el menor tiempo posible⏱ Y aunque hay varias, una buena manera de entrenar esta capacidad es mediante ejercicios de saltos continuos, es decir, tratar de volver a saltar lo máximo posible una vez que hemos caído del salto anterior. ➡️Y cuáles son los beneficios? Obviamente para cualquier deporte que implique saltos (baloncesto, voleibol...) es muy importante, pero también lo es para los corredores🏃🏼‍♀️, ya que ayuda muchísimo a ser más eficientes corriendo, a avanzar más y a “gastar menos”: a ser más reactivos con el suelo👌🏼. Por no hablar de que, siempre ejecutados correctamente, ayudan a prevenir lesiones!💪🏼

Still not quite over the fact I actually ran a marathon!!! I said when I finished I wanted to remember the pain I was in so I didn’t sign up for another until 2020 🙈 sticking to my guns at the mo but guarantee in a couple weeks I’ll be up for another. I am now reasonably relieved I didn’t get into London but I know by 2020 I’ll REALLY want it. I’m just not ready to commit to training for another full one just yet because I want to enjoy a few weekend lie ins and go get drunk more often after a while of not doing so 😂 . Soon, I’ll do being a first-impressions video review on these bad boys: nimbleToes and why you’ll want them to be part of your minimalist running shoe task force! So far, here’s a sneak peak! I took them for a short test-drive on pavement. To me, they feel a cross between the New Balance Minimus and the Merrell Vapor Gloves. Nice wide, 4mm thin Vibram rubber outsole that’s an easy flex. Very nimble, no over-built features, zero-drop (no elevated heel) and a lightweight package that felt, so far, pretty comfortable without socks. The upper is much heartier with more material density than other minimalist shoes, so the nimbleToes may be incredibly durable which high-mileage runners will love! Other than that, just with my brief running encounter, the nimbleToes have already scored high marks for encouraging a fast, responsive forefoot strike ride and based on the tread pattern and the feel of the rubber compound of the outsole, the shoes might have good latching power for the trails, too! 7 years ago I ran my first (and last 😜) #marathon. It was the HARDEST and most PAINFUL thing I’ve ever endured. 😭 Why was it so tough? Because I messed up and wasn’t prepared. ⠀ ⠀ What did I do wrong? 🤷🏻‍♀️⠀ ⠀ I “cheated” by opting for easier runs on a treadmill. ⠀ ⠀ I trained and ran alone, making it more convenient to skip a run or two... or three!⠀ ⠀ I didn’t prepare mentally for the stamina required or the unexpected cold and rainy weather come race day. ⠀ ⠀ This was a big lesson for me. For sure you can try and cut corners, but it will always catch up to you in the end. Shoulders back = power 💥 - Who has ever been the person above? Whether your standing around, sitting, or even exercising (running in particular 🏃‍♀️) we all have gotten into this position, but what’s happening when we do? 🤔 - When you allow your shoulders to collapse you’re taking yourself out of a power stance (shoulders back) where you feel and look strong, and you also are cutting off your access to your diaphragm, making breathing properly hard 😫 - A movement I love to strengthen the muscles around your shoulders to make it easier to keep them in position is the upright row. I use this throughout my running season in particular so that I can breathe better and stay in position as I exert myself 👍🏻 - 1. Stand with feet hips width apart and your weight primarily on your heels 2. Knees are soft, hinge your hips back 3. Row the bar into your hip crease.
