Reverse Crunches- this exercise is great for anyone that is stuck in an anterior pelvic tilt, has tight hip flexors, or possibly feels low back pain. It can help to restore spinal flexion-your spine has a natural curve and doesn’t want to be stuck in any position. It also works your lower abs. Lay on the floor then hold onto a heavy dumbbell or kettlebell or a couch in my case. Create tension through your arms and try to bring your knees to elbows and lower them back down with control. The second video shows a regression. If it’s too much to bring your knees to all the way to your elbows, work on getting your butt off the ground and bringing your knees closer to your elbows. You want your lower back to have a curve. This exercise is the same as a hanging knee raise; however, it really forces to use your abs versus just your hip flexors. In celebration of Harry Potter 20 Year Anniversary, I bought myself a new water bottle. Plus I lost my other one 🤦🏼‍♀️. One easy way to fight hunger is to drink more water. Your body and mind isn’t always great at identifying if you’re either hungry or thirst. Gauge how much water you’re drinking a day, then add 10 ounces until you get to the point your pee is just slightly yellow (gross but easy tell). What’s your resting heart rate and blood pressure? I’ve always loved the blood pressure and heart rate monitors at the pharmacy that you sit at and stick your arm in and wait. There is something about that getting health information quickly and easily. It’s also about a number that you can easily monitor and check time from time. What should you know? Resting Heart Rate: This should be below 60 when truly at rest. The best time to take this is when first waking up. This is an easy test to check your cardiovascular health. Blood Pressure: Standard is 120/80, above is considered high. The top number is the systolic, which is how much pressure does your heart need to pump against when pushing blood back out to the system. And the bottom number is the diastolic, the pressure the remains in the vessels between heart beats. Embrace the suck In order to improve and make strides, you have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. And everyone’s comfort zone is different. For the beginner that comfort zone might be just walking into the door. Or maybe it’s lifting weight more than 5 pounds. For me, I love open sets of reps at a specific weight. I’m an experienced lifter, so I know my body and when, why and how to push. I try to pick a number of reps that is just outside my comfort zone and go for it. Here are reverse lunges at 135 for sets of 10. Improve Your Push Up Depth I like to do push ups to a target, this encourages you to go lower into the push up and also can help you keep your head, shoulders, hips stacked over each other. An easy way is to use a band right under your armpits. The band helps at the bottom of the range of the motion by providing a little pull up at the end. Overtime, you can decrease the assistance til you no longer need the band to get full depth on your push ups. Work for 2-3 sets of 8-10 reps. Today while having a conversation with a client, she said something to the effect of training is expensive. And she fully admitted that she doesn’t love exercise, but knows she needs to. I responded, no matter what you’re going to spend the money. The question is do you want spend it investing in your health so you are able to enjoy your life or at the doctor trying to figure how you can feel better. Instructional fitness training (one on one training, small group classes, small group training, online memberships, etc) is expensive. There is no doubt that it’s generally not a trivial amount of money. However, if you don’t enjoy exercise, scared of not knowing what to do, or have injuries, spend the time and money on a trainer that you connect with and invest in yourself. It doesn’t have to be forever, it can be a jumpstart to a healthier life. Honestly as soon as my college folders come out, Alfie is like a child wanting attention. He circles my feet, pushes my books or folders out the way, he climbs over my work. Its a college assignment kinda day today. Ive got about 14 assignments still to do 😫, Im 67% through my course work, however I have until Oct 19 to complete it. Emotional year 6 leavers assembly today for my middle baba. Its such a small village primary with less than 100 children, with just over a dozen year 6 children, the benefits of this is that all the kids are best friends & the teachers & TA know them & their personalities. Im so chuffed to have my hours upped & to be placed in the reception class in September. Ive spent the last 8 months working as a general TA & a 1:1 in yr 3/4 and a 1:1 in yr 5 . Ive loved every bit & Im lucky to work with a good bunch of teachers & TAs. Ill really miss the Yr 3/4 & running my lunch time football club but so excited to give those little ones in reception a go & working with new teachers. Tonight my friends,,, we played #rugby 🤔🤨😁 . We couldnt make our usual Tuesday boot camp ran by the rugby club, as it was our kids school play. So we popped along to their Thursday session instead, except I thought the session was about catching a ball & running to a line & running back, maybe a bit of throwing & catching with a partner etc.... Ohhhh Nooo 🤔 It was a bloody full on tag rugby game with 16 burly men. My god when theyre running towards you, they are like steam trains & Im 99% sure the were giving us a easy go. At one point I caught the ball mid run but was running too fast, i didnt have hands to catch my fall & just ran face first into a sweaty mans chest. If he wasnt their trying to tag me, I think Id have lost half my skin off my face in a lovely graze from the straw like dead grass. Back in the summer of 99 who knew Id meet the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with & have our 3 kids. Honestly, probably not 1 single person thought wed last & here we are. This mornings #parkrun was hot, as per usual I was a sweaty mess. I ran the 1st lap in record time & had loads of energy, I was actually doing more of a run than a jog at one point. Poor Lewis just wasnt feeling it today & on the 2nd lap walked most of it. I felt awful leaving him & after him insisting I jog on, I would & then would wait for him & we did this a few times. I dont mind him leaving me for dust but havent experienced me being ahead of him & it didnt sit well for me. I got to a narrow bridge & had 4 mins until my PB time .... I thought i could manage to get to the end in 4 mins & possibly get a new PB. But then I felt so guilty for leaving him & thought we should finish together. I waited on the very last bridge for what felt like ages (I was beginning to worry as he still hadnt came out from the trees & over the narrow bridge) I reckon 40+ runners passes me then I saw him & walked back to him. He kept telling me to run on, but we started together & even though hes 11 & his PB is 26 mins, 5 mins faster than mine. Id rather we finish together & Im happy that we did. Oh cr@p another lb on 🤨. Too many salted caramel ice creams, too many cereal bars & too many packets of crisps are to blame. Did I think after 2 weeks of gains from eating sh!t that Id some how miraculously lose this week??? Erm yes!!! Anyway I never want to see the dreaded 11s on the scales & its too close as Im 10st 13!!!! So as of today Im being good & cutting all the snacks out. I eat healthy breakfasts, lunches & dinners so Ill stick to just that & fruit as a snack. I know 100% its all the treats Ive been scranning down my neck & need to stop. As a side note... although I despise gaining weight & feeling heavier... my thighs & stomach skin actually looks better in appearance a little fuller & there for a little smoother. My elasticity has clearly gone & when I lose weight I think my body looks worse in some weird way. Maybe its just me??? Slightly concerned about this 1lb on ..... its too easy to think youre being good & not having too many treats or bigger portions when in fact its most days. I suppose I thought the running & booth camp would burn enough calories for me to lose last weeks 1lb but nope its gone the other way.
