Ever finish a workout and have some sort of ache or pain? Have you finished a workout and had to take the rest of the week off from the gym? Well it could be the way your lifting your weights. . . . As you see in video one I just gripped and ripped that barbell off the ground without any midline control. One of the biggest causes of back injury is lifting objects incorrectly. During weight-bearing movements with a pull off the ground, during the loss of midline control the lumbar vertebrae are at risk for possible injury due to the force placed on the spine with the increased amount of stress on both ligament attachment and muscular attachment. In addition, loss of midline control when pulling an object off the ground can also increase the of intervertebral disk injury. . . . In the second part of the clip, you notice I took a second to between the burpees and pulling the barbell off the ground. By taking those extra few breaths between my transitions, it allows for better engagement and activation of muscles to be used to move any load and decrease the risk of injury.

Lots of technique work today. @euky27 and @eatwellliftwell helped me figure out my new foot position and helped coach me through getting big. We all lift big no matter how small! So I hit 84 kg (185 lbs) and then moved up to end on 97.5 kg (215 lbs) on my Snatch session. Moved on to clean and jerks and hit 111 kg (245 lbs) really solidly and then cleaned up to 124.8 kg (275 lbs). These lifts felt really solid today and like i had so much more in the tank. 185 3x12 my last set is always my best set. First two sets After 6 or 7 reps my traps and neck were shot. My pre existing neck injury has been greatly inhibiting my training. Before my last set I used @the.littlebeast hand held massager on my neck, traps, and scapula. I was able to complete my full set with ease. Finally being able to drop my shoulders and lock my lats. Looks like I’ll be getting a personal massager soon! . Side note if you swipe 👈🏼 you can see a side by side comparison of my waist 4 days apart. This video slightly discouraged me because my waistline looked bigger, however I had a cheat meal that day. Understanding what foods your body reacts poorly to in regards to boating and water retention is HUGE. My body is highly sensitive to gluten, and sodium, and I had both the day I deadlifted. Just a reminder to not be hard on yourself and nutrition is key to success if you’re looking to drop weight 🙏🏼

Take the dog for a quick walk around the block or just stand outside and drink a cup of coffee (or whatever you drink). Todays wet and windy day activities: A morning swim of 30 lengths (front crawl 🙌) and a fun little climb this evening 🧗‍♂️ 🏊 . Last winter I tried climbing🧗‍♂️ for the first time, and now its turning into one of my favourite winter activities (minus snow sports obviously 😏). Let us all take a moment to appreciate the new iPhone camera. Unedited, fresh off the block quality here. High-tech objects these days 🤯 Current weight fluctuating between 185-188. This is the strongest I have ever felt and the heaviest I’ve ever been. With nearly 40 pounds to cut, I plan on bringing my best physique yet for the year of 2019. In my 5 years of training, I believe this will be the most significant cut of my career and I’m truly looking forward to the results. The mini-cut is right around the corner, then the macros will begin to drop heavier as we break down the initial water weight. This is gonna be big, guys!

165lbs vs. 160lbs Say whaaaaaaa? Yup, totally being honest here. The left was me almost 2 years ago before touching a barbell. And the right was tonight, almost 2 years of powerlifting. I have bigger and better plans for 2019, and its already began. Cutting weight isnt necessarily one of those, maybe a little but more so to add strength and muscle mass and pull bigger numbers. 2019 is the year I pull a 315lb deadlift, a 225lb squat and a 135lb bench.
