confession: I signed up for K-Pop Academy. They’ve flown in instructors from Korea who train the K-pop idols there. This summer intensive program is gonna be tough but hopefully by the end I’ll actually learn how to dance? At the very least, I’m getting some very excellent exercise!

For someone who never liked being told what to do, I sure have spent a lot of time letting other people make decisions for me. What I believe they thought I should do... What they would think of me if I did ‘x, y, z.’ I was doing a lot of assuming & listening to the voice of many someones who had not walked in my shoes. . I did all of the above unknowingly, of course - if you asked me, I would say I was a total bad ass & an independent woman and I would believe it with my whole heart. I had no idea that underneath it all, I wasn’t feeling in alignment with that. Isn’t that always the way?! Our subconscious takes control and we ride these waves of bad habits without even knowing it. Until we are asking ourselves where our buckets full of anxiety are coming from... . I’ve begun to gain the ultimate freedom as I have made myself more aware of my patterns. I remind myself daily that I am the boss of my own life. I get to decide everything.. what I do with my day, what I wear, what I put in my body, the words I speak - no one else has the power to choose these things BUT ME. Like, how freeing is that?! I get to do whatever will make me happy. Even if that means wearing flower crowns & tutus, sitting on a pool table, laughing my ass off. Hey.. to each their own, right?! . Sure.. this work is not for sissy’s. That’s why a lot of people don’t do it - it takes bravery and courage to seek the truth & face the parts of you that you don’t dig very much. & it’s a lifetime commitment. But, you are bigger than your pain points. There is so much power within you to discover as you move beyond them.

Did a bed of @wholefoods 365 spring mix topped with roasted potatoes, cauliflower and carrots ( coated them with @chosenfoods avocado oil salt& pepper and to the oven for 20 min at 400F) Micro greens, cherry tomatoes @miyokos_kitchen double cream cashew cheese( so gooood) and homemade sauerkraut (will post the recipe soon) And that’s a wrap. So many goodness in one bowl 😋 . . . . . . .

Here’s a dynamic warm-up to build better posture that you can do super quickly! I got the inspiration to create these videos when @francesandmax asked me for some quick tips. Feel free to message me if you need some new ideas too! —— 1)Peanut Lacrosse Ball release for the Chest The peanut is one of my favorite tools for doing some self-massage. Put the ball where the chest meets the shoulder. Females might have something (lol) in the way so you can put the peanut vertical to make sure you hit the chest! Find a spot that is tight and try to relax into it. —— 2) Bird-Dog Wing | 2 Sets of 12-15ea Side Instead of reaching your hands straight forward, bend your arms at a 90* angle and reach directly out to the side. Cobra Hold | 2 Sets of 45s Externally rotate your palms and keep your chest off the ground. Keep your hands just below the armpit region to work on your shoudlers —— 3) Kneeling Founder and Pull | 2 Sets of 8-10 Breathes Squeeze your hands directly in front of your chest, Inhale the arms forward and as you exhale pull your arms back. Kick-Outs from your Back | 2 Sets of 16-20 reps Arms flat on the ground, kick towards your palms. This will work on your thoracic rotation Crab Kick Outs | 2 sets of 16-20 reps Hands go horizontal, press your hips up and then kick one leg out at a time #getcreative #movefreely

I love the bright summery colours and BOY does it make me want to scoop up my girls and go on vacation lol. I used the @sweetsugarbelle shapeshifter sea set for the flamingo and hibiscus flower and I love how they turned out! I used @wiltoncakes ’Rose’ to make the colour for the flamingos. @the.gingerbaker gave the the idea for the airbrushing technique behind the hibiscus. 10 points if you can guess what stencil I used for the pineapple. 20 points if you can spot the minor ‘oopsie’ I made on this set 🙈 Happy Fri-yay! 🌺🍍🌴

Starting tomorrow I’ll be “out-of-office” (a.k.a. on digital detox) for the next 2 weeks, so I thought I’d share something a little bit different with you… ABOUT ME IN 5 PICTURES . (1) 👉HOW DID I CHANGE? I started my nutritarian journey when my youngest was 6-months-old. I followed @joelfuhrmanmd 6-week aggressive weight loss plan and lost over 21 pounds! After that I struggled going “on” and “off” the plan until I started batch prepping my meals for the week! As you can see, I love posting my prepped fridges here on Instagram! . (2) 👉WHO AM I? I’m Kristen, I’m 36 (wow, this is really feeling like I’m writing a dating profile), wifey (okay, not anymore), and mother to 2 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 beautiful kiddos! I’ve been a nutritarian since 2013, and I’m the only person in my family of 4 who eats this way. I write nutritarian articles, resources and recipes on my blog (link in bio)! . (3) 👉WHO WAS I? I was addicted to food, a regular binge eater—seriously I could tuck into a Costco-sized bag of chips and finish it up within a day (plus all my regular food for the day too). I was a junk-food-junkie. Weighing in at 268 pounds, I abused myself with hyper-palatable, super-processed, Franken-foods and I absolutely hated myself for it every step of the way. I was frustrated, sad and tired a lot of the time, and I was trapped. I wasn’t living my values and shame was pretty much my live-in bestie (you can hear more about this on the post before). . (4) 👉WHAT HAVE I LEARNED? I’ve been on this journey now for over 5 years and there have been SO many failures, disappointments, triumphs, and finally finding what works for my life. My biggest piece of advice: There is no “before” and “after,” there is no “start” and “stop.” There’s only the mad determination to live the life you want to live and the daily decisions needed to make that happen. It’s “your dedication to your path” as @elizabeth_gilbert_writer puts it. . (5) 👉WHAT AM I UP TO NOW? These high-fiber, low-sugar, refined oil-free Fudgey Banana Brownie Bars made with all real food ingredients make for the perfect Friday treat 🍌🙌. . Dessert tip: when possible, make it yourself! When you make your own sweets, you know exactly what’s going in them and will likely add much less sugar/sweetener, oil/butter, etc. than what is typically added in packaged sweets or those made in restaurants and bakeries.
