🔵 Box Squats 🔵⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Another squat option and a variation used by some of the strongest squatters in the world 🌍.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ In the past I have used it as a reference drill to teach balance in the squat; however I also cycle it into elite athletes programmes to build static strength (this exercises removes the stretch reflex). I teach this move slightly differently than you might see on other videos, in that I do not encourage a roll-back movement in between the descent and ascent. For me, there’s just too much that can go wrong doing that. ⠀⠀ ⠀ I coach athletes to perform this they way I am demonstrating in the video: brace the core, lower with control, pause for a second keeping core integrity, then try to explode up. As the @patriots showed us last night ... It may not always be perfect and it may not always be pretty but you can’t beat someone who refuses to quit! 3rd day of my juice detox and my training schedule had me doing an hour and 20 minute long run. Not exactly a fun run, after 50+ hours of surviving on just cold pressed juices and water but I had a choice to make. Stay at home, relax and watch the game or record the game and go do at least an hour run. I’m glad I decided the later, completed 7 miles in an hour and while I wasn’t 100%, I took my time, got my training in and still watched the Rams make an amazing win against the Saints to clinch their trip to the Super Bowl. It’s easy to not workout when you’re not feeling 100% but that’s why a training plan and having a goal to work towards is so critical to success.
