. Let me tell you about one of my best friends... . This girl right here has helped us piece our broken hearts together over the past 11 months after we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our other young lab. She has tested our patience and taught us what unconditional love is. Sheโ€™s full of sass, but super shy around strangers (I know, weird for a dog). Sheโ€™s independent, but loves to cuddle. . My favorite part about her? She always hangs out with me during my workouts. Sheโ€™s always waiting for me behind the door, no matter what time it is or how long Iโ€™ve been in a room. She even plops herself down and watches the trainers explaining the moves on the TV ๐Ÿ˜‚ . Iโ€™ve never had a dog that wants to chill with me, usually they have more of a bond with the men (my dad or my husband). Except this girl, sheโ€™s my side kick! Workouts, being sick, anxious, crabby, excited... whatever it is, sheโ€™s by my side. So very thankful for her and her unique personality.

I dont do cheat meals anymore because Im making this a lifestyle. I love flavors, cooking and experimenting in the kitchen so now a days I try to experiment in low carb healthy ways. But anyways instead of chicken breasts and salmon I eat everyday of the week I said Friday Im going to spike my calories a bit with a fattier protein and enjoy todays meal. Braised beef ribs! Recently, during a live, I shared a more in depth version of my health journey and my experience with different weight loss tactics. โ€ข Hereโ€™s the Readerโ€™s Digest version: โ€ข From the age of 16 to 22, I steadily put on weight. At my heaviest, I was 160 lbs at 5โ€™ 4โ€. I know a number on a scale doesnโ€™t define me. But my attitude, my perception of myself, my self-talk, my thoughts, my emotional well-being... those things do. And I was not in a good place on that front. โ€ข In addition to that, I was also dealing with constant GI problems, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Iโ€™d been to doctors, psychiatrists,... they all wanted to prescribe me medication to cover up the symptoms but no one wanted to address the cause. โ€ข Enter calorie counting. Did I lose the weight? Sure did. Did I feel better? Absolutely not. In fact, things started to get much worse. โ€ข Shortly thereafter came the discovery of my autoimmune disease - Hashimotoโ€™s. Track what you eat. There are a lot of great apps that help you to see just how much you consume in a day. Find one that works for you and get going. If you dont like that idea, just write it down in a journal or the note application in your cell phone.

The task at hand does not get easier. You get stronger. Little by little. Day by day. Step by step. Your diligence will pay off. I have been hard on myself. I tend to speak from my perspective and say things like...I havenโ€™t run in forever or I havenโ€™t strength trained in a long time but truth be told I have been able to maintain 5-10 miles a week and weekly strength training all year long. I guess since I have been doing this much more intensely for the last 5 years, this year feels much smaller. Itโ€™s brought me to a place of guilt. Iโ€™m slacking on me. But thatโ€™s not true. Iโ€™m not running marathons like I once did but I have also not given up. Sometimes the only change that needs to happen is your perspective about yourself. Celebrate the diligence. The victories. Happy Friday!! This is another #facetofacefriday! Photo on the left was actually a couple months into keto in September, so I had already lost about 15 lbs. Photo on the right is December. There is 20 lbs difference between these 2 photos. I am always amazed by how much fat was on my cheeks and jaw line.
