FOODS THAT HAVE MORE CALORIES THAN YOU THINK by @evolvetrainingsystem . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let’s agree on something. These foods alone are not bad and won’t get you fat . Some of these foods actually have some great nutrients . These foods are in a group of their own. They add on calories very quickly if you’re not aware of how much you are consuming. Kind of like peanut butter . The disadvantage of these foods are that if you are in a fat loss phase, they won’t keep you full for very long. And if they do, you probably ate a little too much, and it’s costing you your daily calories. Managing hunger may become a problem . On the flip side, you can use these foods as an advantage if you are in a surplus of calories, trying to develop muscle. I remember what Sunday’s used to look like for me. ⠀ I’d wake up feeling extremely guilty for the food I had on Friday and Saturday. I’d spend the morning beating myself up, obsessing over what I should eat the next week to make up for the bingeing I did over the weekend, and I’d adjust my calorie tracking app to show I was allowed less calories the next week. I’d also try on all my pants to see if they still fit. ⠀ Not a great way to spend a Sunday. ⠀ These days Sunday’s look a lot different. I get up and get some tea, meditate, possibly do some yoga or go for a hike. At some point during the day I usually do some beauty #selfcare and do some reading. ⠀ Every Sunday is a little different but the one thing that is constant is I don’t waste my time worrying about what I had to eat over the weekend. ⠀ In another life my weekday breakfast was nothing more than a single-serving yogurt cup. I spent years of my life focusing on just making it through the hunger until my next planned super low-calorie meal. ⠀ You deserve more than that. Made some froyo bites the other day that were delicious and came out to 72 calories each. Thought I’d share the recipe with ya guys! Divide one cup of lemon greek yogurt into 4 silicone muffin liners. Press 2-3 blueberries into the middle of each. Grind up half a graham cracker and layer atop each. Place in freezer for 3-4 hours. Before eating, remove from freezer and let defrost for approx 2-3 minutes, otherwise you might chip a tooth. 😆 They turned out yummy and really helped with my craving I’ve been having for froyo without all the calories. You burn fat by being in a calorie deficit and moving more. However, a major part of any diet is food choices. (Semi) compliant pancake/crepes. I really wanted to go or for breakfast this morning and eat all the foods! Instead I made some fairly compliant almond flour pancakes. I added pure vanilla extract and I don’t think that’s on the list, but still better than the alternative I would have gotten at the restaurant.

Why am I leaving Optavia? For those that have been following my journey, and just to document my why - this is it. First, I totally love and believe in the Optavia system. To me, there was no better start on this journey. I love my coach, @marnibell. Optavia and the TSFL community met me where I was and gave me the motivation, confidence, and discipline I have been missing for years. I was dealing with depression, obesity and many failed attempts to turn it around. I will never be more thankful for the life I’ve gained back in the last 100 days. The second photo on this is me in 2011, at my prime fighting weight, in the Army and loving my body. Over my deployment I lost 60 lbs, gained muscle and strength and felt amazing. When you are deployed, you have nothing to do but work and workout. I was away from home, temptations and distractions. While I gained so much health, I never learned to live that life among the distractions. Fast forward 7 years and I found myself severely obese. Thanks to Optavia, I’m ready to take my next step now toward building lean muscle and running again. I want to be a lean, mean fighting machine again, but in real life, with all the distractions. My phase 2 plan is going to consist of a 21 day carb cycling nutrition plan from @hiitburn, 5K training with #couchto5k, and a 12 week weight training plan from @diaryofafitmommyofficial . After 21 days, I’m going to try my hand at intermittent fasting in addition to carb cycling. I’m an athlete at heart and I miss being in the gym. I look forward to results and making my comeback. I’m 49 lbs away from my goal weight. This is one of my favs 😍 Get asked often how I build my meals without tracking macros & its pretty simple: _ 1) Start with some low carb veggies - Around 50% of your plate! I like to usually add at least one green veggie also 🥗 Some of my go to veggies are green beans, cucumbers, snap peas, bell peppers, zucchini, carrots & celery for meal prep _ 2) Add protein - I usually pick lean meats like chicken and ground turkey most often. Also really like eggs/egg whites. Will have lean beef on occasion + some seafood options (salmon or shrimp 🍤) My protein is usually around 25 to 50% of my plate depending on the meal! _ 3) Add a starchy carb - This is typically 25% of my plate and my go tos for meal prep are usually brown rice or sweet potatoes. A friend asked me today to help her by posting something to cheer her up. She has also had a major weight loss transformation and has had her ups and downs due to many internal/external hard ships. Many of her problems have been health related with some major set backs in the past few years. The thing that inspires me is her will to keep fighting!!!! Sure she could just use her situation as a crutch and give up. I asked her if all the pain and suffering was worth it in the long run. Its about staying the course and never throwing in the towel no matter how rough the times get. When people tell me Im inspirational to them I then ask them about their own story. I remind them that they are also inspiring to others around them and also to me! Positivity breeds positivety and it is extremely contagious. Having the right surroundings and people in your life can either make or break your spirits. So keep a positive outlook on life even if you are down for a short time. I may have a problem 😂😂 Made a pit stop at GNC for some of my favorite bars. With counting points with the old school smart points I have points to enjoy these.
