I felt like 💩yesterday but it is absolutely amazing what 10 straight hours of sleep will do for you (huge thanks to my husband for letting me sleep in until 8 this morning)! 6.5 miles of short, speed intervals on the treadmill today before my long run tomorrow. My training plan has long runs of half marathon distance and longer for the next four weeks in a row before tapering to race day, bring it on! . A few quick miles after work today. My dog isn’t the greatest road runner I have to say. She is all over the place with the leash and likes to do sprints! As I wrap up my journey as a student, I’ve been lucky to focus on and refine my passions. One of my passions is women’s health. As a female, it blows my mind that women’s health is considered a speciality. Women make up more than 1/2 the population! Research has shown that women are over looked by both male and females physicians, often seen as hypochondriacs. Women are often excluded from medical studies because our hormones are “too complex.” Yet given the same treatments that were only studied on males. To wrap up my master’s degree, I wrote my capstone project on conservative approaches to dysmenorrhea (aka painful periods). As I start my career as a chiropractic physician in the near future, I’m excited to apply what I learned while researching this topic. Nutraceuticals can be very powerful against dysmenorrhea which impacts a vast number of females. There’s a lot safer options than what many PCPs recommend for the management of painful period. Attempting to start a 16 week half marathon training program! 😊 I say attempting because I have to see how my knee holds up. Mile 29. Heavy legs & High spirits. We knew we had this. 🙌🏼😄 We were so happy in this moment. The Dallas 50k was hard but our goal was fun + finish + “push” and we knew we had done it. 2.5 more miles and a chance for sub-5 hours. It felt like a really long marathon especially when we joined the marathoners at a big mile 12 sign but we had run 17 😜 Thank goodness Jess’s phone was blasting Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” to make us laugh! 😆

Got a nice 3 mile run in after CrossFit class this morning🏃🏼‍♀️ Mentioned to @northernlimitscoach that I was kinda bored with running around town in Shasta so he suggested I go run Stewart Springs Rd and that sounded like a good idea so on the way home from class I pulled off right as I turned onto Stewart Springs Rd and ran a little over a mile and half then turned around and ran back to my car and it was awesome to get to run in new scenery, I even ran into and got to chat for a minute to my buddy Steve Lewis who was out scoping some adventures! I’m really liking the randomness of where I’m running lately, i just get the urge to go run somewhere new so I drive and if somewhere looks beautiful and fun to run then I stop and run and it’s been a blast! • If the plan doesnt work Simply change the plan But never the Goal. • As 2018 ends I looked back at my goals I had set for myself, one being achieving a sub 2:10:00 half. The Hungry Turkey half was supposed to be my race to chase that PR, but of course life had other plans. Having to start back from the beginning has been a humbling experience. • Instead of merely surviving each training run, like what happens when training for a marathon, I am able to slow down and focus/appreciate the miles that I can do today. There is no number looming above my head, leaving me with guilt if I dont accomplish it. This run ALMOST didnt happen. I was feeling worn out and unmotivated today, and was coming up with every excuse to not go. Am I tired because Im a stay at home mom with 3 side hustles? Yes, for sure. Because it was nap time. It doesn’t take much space and it doesn’t take much time, to just move your body! One of my favorite moves : the jump squat. Never thought I would be a big fan of at home workouts but life has made it that way. Some days the gym is not an option so having basic workout stuff at home helps.... 💪🏾🏃🏾‍♀️🏋🏾‍♀️

Happy Tuesday! 👋 It’s been a while, but I have updates! Many of you may remember I was planning to go on a test run last weekend...and as you may have guessed by the lack of triumphant “I RAN” posts, it didn’t happen. 😢 It’s been four whole months since my last run, and since that’s the same amount of time it took to heal my last fracture, I figured I’d give it a go...until I went to see my physical therapist, @erinsrunnerdpt. She asked me to obtain a copy of my MRI report, and lo and behold, there were more problems than were disclosed to me by my doctor. In addition to my sacral fracture, I also have two torn tendons (glute min and glute med) and mild bursitis, which will require a lot more PT and a little more time off running. On the bright side, I’m getting STRONGER before I attempt to run, so hopefully I can keep these injuries away for a LONG time! 🤞🏻2019, I hope you’re ready for me. 😊Also, congrats to everyone who got chosen to run Chicago! Hands down @bowmar_nutrition is the BEST, HEALTHY Ingredients Supplements out there. First run back post marathon! 9 full days of rest felt amazing, but it felt great to get back to it! . Spent 30 mins of easy running remembering everything I could about this race. 💨 Run where the wind blows you! . I had a bit of a crappy month last month filled with bugs etc so I’m taking this month really easy and just exercising for enjoyment and health, not for any goals or challenges . And I love it!! . I enjoy running so much when I’m just following my nose and doing what I fancy on the day! It’s also good for your body to take some lower intensity training blocks - especially if you’ve been over doing it! . Do you like to stick to a rigid plan or are you more of a “play it by ear” kind of runner? . Whatever you do the main thing is that you turn up and get out there 😄 🏃🏼‍♀️ 🏃🏽‍♂️

“I don’t have time” is the grown up version of “the dog ate my homework”. So I’m making time and back at it at the gym today during my lunch break. Legs not up for running yet after my half on Sunday so I completed 20 minutes on the elliptical and then a strength training session - upper body and abs. 💪🏻 Determined to build a healthy and strong body, so I’m committed to showing up! 💁🏼‍♀️🏋️‍♀️
