ALCUNI SEMPLICI CONSIGLI PER INIZIARE AL MEGLIO Molte persone sono attratte da questo vero e proprio stile di vita che lo yoga ci offre, ma spesso alcuni pensano di non essere abbastanza flessibili, altri di non avere né letà né il fisico adatti, altri ancora sono intimoriti dal fatto che bisogna stare fermi in una posizione per molto tempo. Iniziamo subito a sfatare alcuni miti con dei piccoli suggerimenti che vi faranno sentire a vostro agio durante la prima lezione di yoga. 1️⃣Scegli lo yoga in base alle tue esigenze: Guarda diversi video di yoga su YouTube, quale stile ti piace di più? Ora prova a guardarti dentro, ad ascoltarti... Di cosa hai bisogno? Di ritrovare la calma interiore? Allora puoi provare un tipo di yoga incentrato principalmente sulla respirazione e meditazione: Kundalini Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Yoga del respiro. Il tuo corpo è arrugginito ed hai bisogno di più energia per affrontare la giornata? Ti consiglio sicuramente lHatha Yoga o Iyengar Yoga, due stili di yoga che mirano ad attenuare lo stress della vita quotidiana e a promuovere il benessere fisico e mentale. Se invece hai una buona padronanza del corpo e preferisci lavorare sulla tonificazione e coordinazione dei movimenti puoi provare lo yoga Vinyasa Flow, il Power Yoga o lhastanga Yoga. 2️⃣Non paragonarti a nessuno soprattutto durante la prima lezione! È normale se ti senti impacciato e nervoso, è tutto nuovo, goditi la scoperta e tieni a mente che gli allievi più bravi che vedi allinizio si sentivano esattamente come te. 3️⃣Cerca di arrivare dieci minuti prima dellinizio della lezione così potrai conoscere linsegnante e farle presente qualsiasi dubbio o problematica fisica (se presente). 4️⃣Indossa un abbigliamento comodo, possibilmente lino o cotone, evita i pantaloni troppo larghi perché potrebbero ostacolare i movimenti soprattutto negli stili di yoga più dinamici. Living with chronic pain can be exhausting physically and emotionally but there are things that can improve our lifestyle. I know from personal experience that pain and its limitations can influence our emotions and affect our relationships if we do not talk about that and our feelings with partners, family members and friends. Asking for help when feeling unwell can benefit both ourself and loved ones, who may not be sure how to offer support. There are also online or in-person support groups which can also play a role in our pain management. I cannot stress this point enough: consider alternative therapies. Acupuncture, biofeedback, relaxation training, meditation and hypnosis are the first ones coming to my mind but if you try to search for more you’ll find also other options to copy with chronic pain. Cognitive therapy may be also beneficial for identifying and changing potentially dysfunctional thinking, behaviour and emotional responses. I love to suggest to keep a chronic pain journal. By writing detailed notes it could be possible to identify what makes the pain better or worse, how long it usually lasts, how well pain medication is working, side effects etc. Moreover, gentle exercise, with the doctor’s consent, may also help with pain management. A low impact sport such as swimming or yoga could be an idea but the doctor is the person who can better suggest which types of exercise might work well for each of us, according with the health condition, the part of the body the pain is affecting etc. While its important to know our limits, we should also be careful not to let the chronic pain overshadow every aspect of our life. My suggestion is to keep having our hobbies and whether that is not possible just take up new hobbies! Relationships with friends and family are more important than ever in this circumstances, also meeting new people can be beneficial in pain management. And no material goods will ever make you happy. It is not these things that heal your soul. Only your passion for which your heart beats is able to do it. Dont make your life depend on your income. Ask yourself: How much material goods do I really need to live? Can I find a way to practice my passion as a profession? Or can I limit my expenses, so that I can reduce my workload and find more time for my passion? There is always a way. It is only through silent awareness that our physical and mental nature can change. This change is completely spontaneous. If we make an effort to change we do no more than shift our attention from one level, from one thing, to another. We remain in a vicious circle. This only transfers energy from one point to another. It still leaves us oscillating between suffering and pleasure, each leading inevitably back to the other. Only living stillness, stillness without someone trying to be still, is capable of undoing the conditioning our biologoical, emotional and psychological nature has undergone. There is no controller, no selector, no personality making choices. In choiceless living the situation is given the freedom to unfold. You do not grasp one aspect over another for there is nobody to grasp. When you understand something and live it without being stuck to the formulation, what you have understood dissolves in your openness. In this silence change takes place of its own accord, the problem is resolved and duality ends. Day 🔟 of #CollateralPractice with @cyogalife ➡️ Kneeling #Vasisthasana 🐳⛄️ . . This pose requires lots of leg activation, though it most seems like a stretchy thing only! Doing this few times (to get the alignment right, almost!) after a leg day... I can feel my quads are sore again! 😅 . #Repost @cyogalife (@get_repost) . . . Visvamitra and Vasisthasana are the 2 asanas that come to mind first when we think of working the ‘laterals’. We did kneeling Visvamitra a few days ago so now it’s Vasistha’s turn. There are a lot of common elements between them like, for instance, keeping the hips as high as possible, above the base knee, base shoulder above its wrist and, as we turn, lift and project through the upper foot, we can move the gaze towards the ceiling. As I mention in Visvamitra, use a strap if you can’t hold the upper toes or if you hunch up quite a bit. Your biggest enemy here, and what you should avoid at all cost, is rounding the spine. Whether you hold the big toe or you’re able to extend the leg, is not ​that relevant and it’ll come with time (sooner than you think, once the back is properly activated!). Give yourself some room and push against the floor to engage, as usual this month, the side lines of the body. Curl back toes under to help you with that traction too. If you can do this kneeling version but the full pose is not accesible yet, try, from this one, letting go of the foot while maintaining hips high and both arm & leg VERY active, reaching enthusiastically (yes, put some enthusiasm, you can!) towards the ceiling. When neither the hip drops nor the leg lowers, chances are lifting the back knee won’t affect you and you’ll be ready for the full expression. Time to lift and shine, your turn!!

Handstands in churches ♥️ I’ve been awol from Instagram for a while just because I’ve been so busy with starting my new job, and moving into my house, I haven’t had time to document my yoga practice whether that be with videos or photos, but I’m back now! 🙋🏼‍♀️ so hello! As I make the move back into my old routines, Im focusing on backbends to symbolize that change and the way I feel about it. In this variation, Salabhasana looks like someone free falling just prior to pulling the ripcord to release his parachute. I want so badly to continue my free fall into a new phase of life, but like the skydiver, I must exercise a bit of caution, so Ill pull the ripcord this time.
